Certified instructor description: The moves are yoga-based, but the goals and attitude are pure gym-style strength training. These programs are designed to build lean, strong muscles, not “mind-body tranquility.” There’s no rest and no slowing down. The on-screen countdown timer and Bob’s “aggressive” cuing keeps you constantly in motion (“You’ve got 15 seconds — do as much as you can, as fast as you can!”). The moves are well-designed and effective — a true fusion of toning and yoga (e.g. “a down dog” that smoothly morphs into a classic shoulder press). The second program features mostly traditional abdominal toning like curls, bicycles and planks. ©2010. DVD has: Wide screen.

Bob Harper's Yoga for the Warrior

A great yoga workout and fun!
I love this one. I find it to be a great workout, but I still feel stretched out and relaxed at the end of it as well. It definitely helps to keep me in good shape and stay strong. The music is nice and moves the pace along. Bob has a nice rapport with Robert and "his girls" as he calls them. But they seem as if they like him and they are so strong with those amazing yoga moves they do, I guess they could kick his butt for calling them that if they wanted to! I got this DVD in December and still enjoy coming back to it. Hope he does another one like this! - posted by CM on 5/21/2012
Excellent! More yoga than Biggest Loser
I love Bob's Biggest Loser Yoga DVD and was thinking why buy another when I'm happy with that one? Well I'm glad I bought this Yoga for the Warrior. It is a comprehensive yoga workout covering the best strength, stretch and balance poses that are DOABLE. Therefore, I would actually rate this DVD as intermediate rather than advanced. There are advanced modifications offered for some poses. I am not flexible at all and I have a very weak upper body and was able to do this DVD. I do agree with other reviews that the Biggest Loser is more challenging but it is not as yoga focused as this one. His Biggest Loser DVD I highly recommend, but that has a separate pilates and strength section to add on to the yoga therefore not as fluid. Plus you need add'l equipment for those sections. I frequently just did the 25 min. yoga. In summary it had more plank holds and less balance poses than this one. Warrior is one long fluid YOGA workout that is superbly cued with good transitions. The music is motivating and not sleepy. It goes hand in hand with the level of exertion. Time flew. This is a great one hour yoga session! I did not do the 15 min. abs because he works the abs toward the end of the yoga, before the final stretch. I didn't feel more abs conditioning was needed. Good full body strengthening and excellent stretching. No equipment needed other than a mat. My Biggest Loser Yoga DVD may begin collecting some dust. I am very pleased with this one! Bob is awesome! - posted by Lisa on 4/21/2012
try it
Asa hard core gym rat I was a little hesitate to get into yoga. I figured as I got older I needed more stretching, so here comes Bob. Wow what a great workout, I felt like I was working out and stretching at the same time. I will continue to do it 3x a week until I can get all the poses down. It was great to change up my workout routine with this. - posted by debbie on 3/22/2012
Love this workout!
Bob's cuing is terrific, he really leads you from one move to the next. The cast struggles right along with you. It is very easy to follow and challenging. I am new to yoga (within the last year) and this was just what I have been looking for - more athletic-style yoga, less new-agey stuff. I want to feel like I have worked out! I hope that Bob does more yoga workouts like this. - posted by Victoria on 2/2/2012
Love this workout!
I have been doing Power Yoga/Ashtanga Yoga for years and Bob's video is a great addition to my DVD collection. It's not the toughest yoga dvd I own, but it is tough enough and has quickly become a favorite. - posted by Vicky on 12/22/2011
Not for the beginner!
I've been doing yoga for years and I've come to like power yoga the best. I like the high pace aspect of it and the strengthening aspects of it. I've tried Rodney Yee's Power yoga but it was way to slow for me. I have Jillian Michaels Yoga as well and I liked it a lot. Exactly what I wanted and I wanted another workout like that. This is my first Bob Harber workout and I like his style and the moves. I was able to do the whole workout with no problems and still felt a bit challenged. - posted by Michelle on 12/14/2011
Not my favorite
I like Bob Harper, and I like a more athletic approach to yoga, but I did not particularly like this workout. Bob promises at the outset that this will be a yoga workout like no other, but it's not. It's just . . . yoga, with fairly standard poses (except for a few really, really hard poses that only bendy yogis with decades of experience can do). With the name, the promises at the outset, and the advanced rating, I kept waiting to sweat or wobble or feel really challenged, but it just didn't happen. Instead, I kept watching the clock and waiting for this to end. Pity. I really enjoy the rest of Bob's Inside Out Method DVDs, but this one will not receive a lot of play time. - posted by Amy Lee on 11/22/2011
Great workout!
This is a really great, intense yoga workout. Also, unlike a lot of yoga workouts out there, this one really worked the core/waistline. Despite what the others say, I don't think that Ben was too bad during the corpse pose section. While it wasn't completely music with no talking, I don't think he was annoying in any way either. - posted by Julie on 9/24/2011
Enjoyed this yoga workout
I liked this yoga workout. I like Bob's style of guiding me through the moves since I can't be staring at the screen the whole time. I couldn't do all the moves because I am not flexible enough so I followed the modifier and still felt like I got a good workout. I prefer to do yoga videos that are a little more fast paced and this one fits the bill. - posted by Heaather on 8/31/2011
For the devoted yoga practitioner!
At the beginning of this video, Bob promises that it is like none other--which this no-longer-young and no-longer-supple lady found a little intimidating. The practice consists of a series of stretches, strength-building poses, flows, and a nice cool-down. Upon completion, you feel energized and relaxed. There are poses in it that I cannot do, but they are easily adapted. Bob's consistent encouragement and challenge to his audience motivates me to do this video at least once a week (among others that I do). The filming is edgy and the music is not irritating. FIVE STARS! - posted by Carol on 8/19/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
