Certified instructor description: The video that made Callan famous. It's a unique series of "deep muscle exercises"- exact, controlled, "pulsed" movements of your large muscle groups (e.g. precise leg lifts of one inch, not 12 inches). Designed to shape your entire body, these exercise video classics are personally taught by best-selling author, Callan Pinckney. With a gentle, soothing voice she carefully demonstrates each move and modification. They use a ballet barre; a high back chair will work. Quiet instrumental music. ©1986 DVD has: Chapter menus, Narrow screen.

Callanetics with Callan Pinckney

Excellent!!!
I was very eager to try the original Callanetics. I have Callanetics Evolution, and I really enjoy that one. Sure, the outfits are dated, but the exercises are effective, yet gentle on the body. I'm able to make do without a ballet barre. The hour goes by quickly, and I feel energized afterwards. I've read many positive reviews about how Callanetics makes you slimmer, so that motivated me immediately! I also purchased Quick Callanetics, and AM/PM Callanetics also, so I can rotate them for variety. I like that if I only have 20 minutes to work out, I can do that. I look forward easing into turning 50 yrs old this year, and in addition, easing into a smaller dress/pants size as well! Great workout that doesn't pound your body! - posted by Brenda on 5/19/2013
So Glad It's Back
Not only does it work, but Callanetics makes you feel so relaxed and strong after a session. The DVD goes by so quickly and I remember the old familiar moves. I get a great stretch and feel I am strengthening my body by the minute. It simply works. - posted by Laura on 5/9/2013
love it!
I am enjoying this workout. It is low impact, slow moving but powerful. I need to make some adjustments to some of the exercises to maintain alignment and protect my back but it's worth it. If you are a yoga and/or Pilates person, this might be a fun option for you. I like it. - posted by sasha on 4/29/2013
Thank You
I appreciate that the DVD came in a timely manner and I have begun to put it to use. My mother used to have this on tape and it worked wonders for her. I look forward to having the same results as she had. - posted by Shasta on 4/26/2013
Only exercise program that truly delivers
I used this back in the 80's and after seeing this advertisement I plan on starting back tomorrow! I would dare anyone to make the claims Ms. Pinckney makes AND be able to carry though and meet promises! Great program for ANY age!! - posted by Sara on 4/14/2013
Great Workout
Yes, the video, music, and wardrobe are dated, but the workout produces great results and does it very quickly. It also doesn't take a lot of time to do, you only have to do it 2-3 times a week, and you don't work up a sweat. I'm more toned than I've ever been and will continue doing this workout. - posted by Julie on 4/14/2013
Love it!
I used to do this workout a long time ago and lost the tape. I love this workout! It's easy on the back and you get results fairly quickly. - posted by Christina on 4/5/2013
Thirty Years Later
Loved this workout when I did it faithfully thirty years ago. Not so easy now after not having done it for so long, but it still is a fantastic workout for the whole body. - posted by Patricia on 4/4/2013
Okay
Callenetics has really good butt and hip exercises. The sit-ups are bad on my neck and the leg stretches seem useless. She spends a lot of time talking and is quite impressed with her body. She does have a great body for a 47 year old. - posted by Catherine on 3/31/2013
Amazing!
I did these in the 80s and 90s and the results were as fast at firming your body up as Callan promised. They were so effective, that in all these years I never ever bothered with aerobics or anything else, other than walking. Because I knew that anything else could never compare. I want to get back into this again, now that I am 52 and need to firm up again. These exercises made me very firm very quickly, and my body was sooo tight and firm. Also energizing! - posted by Ronda on 3/27/2013

Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
