Certified instructor description: Two ultra-intense, “hard core” weight training workouts. You’ll reshape your body with time-tested, gym-proven techniques — Supersets and Pyramid Training. You’ll begin with 12 reps of lighter weights, then 10 reps of mid-level weights, then 8 reps of the heaviest weights. That’s repeated “down the pyramid” to 10 reps and 12 reps again (but the DVD also offers a “just up” or “just down” option). The supersets only add to the challenge — each muscle group is targeted with at least two different exercises. The combination is absolutely guaranteed to fatigue your muscles to exhaustion (which allows them to rebuild even stronger). Both programs end with a short stability ball segment. Cathe Friedrich’s cuing is superb; she offers tips, keeps you on-pace and provides inspiration (e.g. her “light” barbell is 40 lbs!). Includes some recognizable songs like “Cold as Ice,” “Crazy on You” and “Miami Vice Theme.” Requires a barbell, a stability ball and at least three sets of dumbbells (e.g. 5, 10 and 15 lbs.). A 14" high step is also used. ©2003. DVD has:
4 premixes (40 to 41-min. alternate workouts),
Chapter menus.

Cathe Friedrich's Pyramid Upper & Lower Body |
One of Cathe's best weigh training workouts |
| If you're "stuck" on a plateau and not really sure what to do to ramp up your results, this workout is the way to go. I found that, despite years of Firm workouts (the classics from when the Benson sisters owned the company), I was a bit bored and wanted something new. I'm not a fan of Cathe's cardio workouts because, in all honesty, I don't want to think that hard about choreography when I'm working out. I'd rather go for a run or a bike ride. But her weight workouts are better than a gym and this one will really shake things up. Talk about muscle "confusion!" A must have for your workout collection. Cathe is a marvelous instructor. - posted by Pamela on 5/5/2012 |

    A good challange |
| I'm not sure if I like the pyramid method, but it's a straight forward DVD. Good ole classic moves you can do along with Cathe. She's likeable but a tad boring. I like that you can make it as hard or as easy as you want based on what weights you use. And no complex or awkward moves. - posted by Stefanie on 5/3/2012 |

    Love It!!! |
| I have been lifting weights for several years. I would say I am an advanced exerciser. Even though it is not one of her newest videos, it is fantastic! Her cueing is always perfect. Good music. Challenging, and great for those days I want to really concentrate on upper or lower body. The pyramid approach to weight lifting is one of several that I enjoy. - posted by Robyn on 4/19/2012 |

    I love this one |
| I absolutely love it. I am recovering from a broken ankle so I have to modify a few exercises. I have gotten quicker results from this than some that I have bought from the TV infomercials. I would highly recommend this workout. I am ordering more Cathe today, that's how much I love this one. - posted by Leanne on 12/27/2011 |

A must have in your collection |
| I have soooooooo many workout dvd's I have lost count. But this is one dvd I use more than any other for weight training. Time and again this model for weight training produces definition in my arms immediately. It's quick but tough if you use heavy enough weights. I love the pyramid concept. It's very effective and is behind the body for life system. I would never part/trade this dvd. worth every penny. - posted by cathefan on 11/6/2011 |

    Requires sooo much equipment |
| This was my first Cathy weight training video. I always been reluctant to try her because her workouts are so long and I like 45-55 minute workouts but I was looking for a challenge. Long story short, I liked the video, the exercises weren't particularly innovative but I like the pyramid system and felt like I was getting a good workout BUT I live in an apartment and it would take up about half of my living room if I actually had all the equipment necessary to do justice to this workout. I only have dumbbells, I would have needed at least 3 more sets of that to say nothing of barbells. And even if you only plan on using dumbbells, then you have these long pauses where everyone changes weights. So good workout but entirely too much equipment necessary. - posted by Tessie on 8/25/2011 |

    Great workout video |
| I love Cathe! I'm an advanced exerciser and i work out 4 times a week. This video is great for toning legs and arms. The abs section is not long enough though. Really good instructions on how to do each move. It wasn't complicated or too fast and it made my muscles sore the next day!! - posted by christy on 8/11/2011 |

    Killer Upper Body |
| My husband and I are both using this for strength training. So far we have mostly done the upper body half, and we think it is awesome. Makes sense, and we can feel (and see!) the difference in our muscles. It is pretty equipment intensive- we don't really have all the weights we need for the leg half yet, so I can't speak to that to much. Definitely a great addition to our library! - posted by Rebecca on 6/23/2011 |
