Certified instructor description: Fast-paced, high-energy moves; they range from grapevines, ponies and jacks to scissors, mambos and kickbox routines. The hit-song vocal soundtrack and Christi’s excellent cuing are perfectly designed to keep you burning fat. Christi elevates the intensity — and variety — with lots of pivots, turns, jumps and interesting arm patterns (while the back-row exercisers show easier variations). The all-recognizable music includes “I’m a Star,” “Joy to the World,” “Bang on a Drum all Day” and “Devil with the Blue Dress On” (Christi even choreographs and sings a few of the cues to match the music). Video ends with a how-to instructional segment for each move. ©2002. May come in a plain white cover. Note: DVD includes short bonus warm-up, cardio and abs segments.

Christi Taylor's Totally Hot Cardio

Fun and sweaty!
I've had this DVD with the original white and red cover for some time but never reviewed it. I LOVE CHRISTI TAYLOR! She cues really well and is very original with fun moves to the music. This is not my favorite Christi (which is Totally Cool Step, the sister DVD). I prefer her step workouts, but you must practice this DVD to get it all. That's why it's not for beginners unless you don't mind not getting all the moves and want to progress. You will sweat and smile. There are lots of bonuses I use too, like the bonus warm up and cardio. The bonus abs is the same as for the Cool Step workout, so I'm taking off a star for the repeat. I love a fun way to sweat and this does the job. Put this in your collection if you want more Christi in your collection. Get her step workout first if you never tried her yet. - posted by Andrea405 on 11/2/2011
Don't Like the Soundtrack
First of all, let me say that I have two other videos of Christi's and I think she is a great instructor and choreographer. However, although I'm old enough to recognize most of the songs in the video, I just did not like them or find them motivating. The workout itself was fine although it was very similar to one I already have so I returned it. - posted by Sonya on 8/18/2011
Good workout but tricky moves
Good aerobic workout, but the moves get a little too complicated, especially for the home audience trying to follow along facing a TV. - posted by Sharon on 5/26/2011
Great workout
This is the first time I have used a video for exercise. My gym cut back two sessions in a week so I went to the video. I bought 3 and this one is the best. - posted by Ted on 5/25/2011
Didn't like it as much as I thought I would
I bought this video along with 3 others and from the clip, I just knew this one would be my favorite. She had what seemed to be basic moves at an intermediate/advance level. On my 1st try I just found the cueing was a bit off, she did lots of counts of 3s instead of 4s and I wasn't crazy about a lot of her other moves. It was really fast paced and although I like her energy and may try another one of her videos before I write her off, this one was not for me. I'm looking for something with the moves of Charlene Prickett (she's now retired) or the basic moves of Leslie Sansone but at a much higher rate. - posted by Tashia on 2/17/2011
Glad I kept it!
I have had this workout for over a year, but had only done it a few times. And a couple of those times I didn't even do the whole workout. I was so intimidated by the complex choreography. But I recently pulled it off the trade pile (Yes, I was actually going to trade it away!), gave it another go, and while I still struggle in some parts, I so enjoyed the workout. Christie is a doll, is great at cuing, and no, she does not sing the whole time. She just makes it a fun, yet challenging workout. I do wish that some of the combo's were done a few times more, or that the modifiers were up front instead of in the back, but these are minor inconveniences. If your looking to burn some major calories while having fun, get this DVD! - posted by Melanie on 2/8/2011
Not A Fan
I think you have to like Christi and her style to get into this DVD. First off, the singing is just too much for me. It would be fine if she only did it a couple of times, but it is non-stop. The workout moves fast, and I found it hard to catch on even after attempting it a couple of times. If I have to do a workout multiple times just to get the routine down, then it stops being enjoyable. This one has just become a huge dread factor for me, so it sits on my shelf. I also do not understand why Christi has the two modifiers hidden in the back. At least move one of them up front. - posted by Bree on 3/11/2010
Good Cardio Workout
This is a good workout for burning calories. It will get your heart rate up. It is a little tricky the first time through, but that is what the Move Master is for. Watch it and follow along, and you will get the moves down. I for one, did not like the music. "Joy to the World", "Devil in a Blue Dress", "Tequila". Ugg!! Also, I don't care for Christi and her "singing" the cues. The bonus abs was a bit of a let down. Christi is off camera, so all you hear is her voice, while one of the other exercisers does the ab workout. It is very basic and not challenging. - posted by Ashley on 2/9/2010
Fun and heart pumping
I did this one twice and really enjoyed it. The first combo is a little tricky, but I watched her tutorial which helped. I really enjoy Christi's Hi/Lo. I like it on days where I don't want intensity drills, but just a nice paced cardio workout. I took this up a notch in some places to keep it advanced. But, I find with her workouts you can make them tougher if you want. I have fun learning her combos and I thought her cuing was pretty good. The more I do it it will be come easier. I did not find this too repetitive, but just a lot of fun. I think Collage should really give the choreography a complex rating, just because there are a lot of turns in this one and she moves quickly through the combos. - posted by Cam on 9/6/2009
Fantastic! Love it!!!
I am an advanced stepper but wanted to start incorporating floor aerobics just to mix things up. The only Christi dvd I have ever done is solid gold step which is fabulous so I thought I would try this one. I watched it twice through first, before doing it, which I highly recommend. The moves are fresh, fun and fast paced but not too difficult to learn. Christi, as always, is fantastic, with her cuing being spot on. She does not miss a beat. I like all of the options with staying low impact with the girls in the back ( who are easy to see) or doing higher impact with Christi and the front girls. She teaches each pass, practices it a few times, and then moves on by adding a new pass to it and piecing it all together, so there is no dread factor at all. Your heart rate will soar, you will be sweating buckets, every muscle will be worked, and you will love this. What more can you ask for from a cardio workout?? Bravo Christi- great job!!!! - posted by Jill Sherry on 6/23/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
