Certified instructor description: Four workouts, originally released on three VHS tapes, are now available on DVD. It’s nearly five hours of step intensity. "Step Til You Drop" features three excellent instructors with three distinct personalities. It begins with a series of non-dancy, sports-style routines like basketball and soccer kick. That’s followed by a series of more innovative aerobic/anaerobic moves. Finally, you’ll complete this aerobic series with 30 minutes of fun, hip-shakin’ advanced step cardio. The lower-impact "Two Workouts in One" has a martial arts-oriented kickbox program and a back-to-the-basics step workout. The inter/advan-level first segment features true boxer-style exercises; they’re focused on technique, balance and agility. The second workout is an intermediate level step program. It uses proven classics like repeaters, straddles, turn steps and lunges. "Step 2 B Fit" is a straight-forward medley of inter/advan-level step favorites. After the fast-paced, on-the-step warm-up, you’ll move into a non-stop series of varied choreography (using the step from every direction,). ©2002. VHS version does not include Two Workouts in One. DVD has: Narrow screen.

Really good step video
This gives a huge bang for the buck as there are so many different step videos and different instructors. It has the fun challenge of learning several new routines. This makes the time fly and gives a sense of accomplishment when you begin to master them. Highly recommend this one. - posted by Lesa on 11/1/2012
Old fashioned
I wanted a different variety of step workout, but this one disappointed. Almost returned it. Only liked Ann's segment. - posted by Eileen on 10/25/2012

Great Stepping and Boxing
Step to B Fit is my favorite step workout of all time. Philip cues the best of them all. He uses good music and all his moves flow very well from warm-up to cool down. It is not the hardest cardio-wise but it is so fun and great for days when you are tired. I think the choreography is good in the Step Til You Drop, but I find that the step speed is slow in all three workouts, and it feels draggy. Anne's workout on Two Workout's in one is a solid step workout with lots of interesting combinations. The boxing on this tape is one of the best ever made( Debbie Burns). Like Philip's step, I still do this one and it never disappoints. The music and moves are great. Very high energy. - posted by Mary on 12/23/2011
Challenging Moves
This is definitely not a workout for beginner exercisers. Even advanced exercisers may have problems. For me, the best thing about the compilation is the kickboxing and the first and second half of the Step Til You Drop Series. - posted by Marie on 8/6/2009
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Narrow screen
X
When played on a widescreen TV, this program will show black bars on the left and right sides. On an older 4x3 ratio TV, it will fill the entire screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis

Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Step aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The step aerobics segments involve stepping up and down on a platform. The moves range from simple stepping to more choreographed exercises. These segments require a step bench platform. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
