Time graph for CIA 2603: Criss-Cross Cardio
High-energy kickbox aerobics plus a unique, Brazilian-inspired toning/balance series. The fast-paced hi/lo really burns the fat while the toning segment really challenges your lower body. There’s no slowing down; Sherri Jacquelyn’s well-designed cardio is totally non-stop. She’s already cuing the next sequence as you’re finishing the current one. Or she’s adding an anaerobic plyometric “burst” to propel you into the next combo. The all-standing toning section is based on Capoeira martial arts moves. From Brazil, it’s a powerful and effective technique that keeps your core engaged as your gluteal and leg muscles gracefully move your body. ©2006. DVD has: Chapter menus.

CIA 2603: Criss-Cross Cardio

Speedy!
She throws those punches fast and hard! Very high energy, fun, and the time flies by. The instructor has a great personality and puts her all into it. My only complaint is the "back-up" exercisers look like they don't want to be there - like they would rather be having a root canal. As long as you ignore them it's a great DVD. - posted by Laura on 2/28/2009
Sweaty, different and fun!
I agree with the reviewer who said that Sherri is a rough diamond, but I think the freshness of her workout and her enthusiasm makes up for her lack of polish. This DVD is different and lots of fun. It's almost worth buying for the Capoirea section alone - I'm in awe of the person who said it was a bit easy! This DVD is a great addition to anyone's kickbox library. - posted by RedPanda on 8/22/2008
Good workout
This workout has nice combos - yet between them there's too much "pausing" (that's why I can't give it full 5 stars). The workout is energetic and fun - and Sherri is a good, motivating instructor. I would not rate it "advanced", it is more intermediate, I'd say. Altogether, an ok workout. - posted by Maria on 7/12/2008
Could of been better
What I enjoyed most about this workout is the segments where you were actually doing cardio- or something to maintain your heart rate...but there is too much slowing down between moves, and I wish there were more kicking, and less combos. The background exercisers did not have great form at all. - posted by Mandee on 11/19/2007
More instruction, less counting!
My body is happy with this workout, but my mind is not. It does kick my butt, but the more I do it, the more I feel the lack of any meaningful instruction from Sherri Jacquelyn. She does the moves and counts (and says Awesome! a lot), but does not clearly instruct and explain. Some of the kickboxing drills are too fast and confusing, but I just keep moving and do my best. It makes me appreciate the excellence of Cathe Friedrich, Jari Love and Patrick Goudeau in some of the other advanced videos I bought around the same time. I find the poor form of her "backup" kickboxers distracting. - posted by Susan on 7/12/2007
I like this workout a lot!
I wasnt sure about this video the first couple of times-it seemed a but choppy, But I love the way she mixes things up and never stays to the point of boredom with one combo-my only complaint with some of Amy Bento's stuff. Sherri is a rough diamond-not always that poished in her delivery but she instructs with a lot of enthusiam and a sense of fun-I also like the Capoirea which I find interesting if a bit easy-except for that last move which always knocks me out - posted by Trish on 7/2/2007
Where's the kicking
Too much punching and not enough kicking for me, get Cathe Freidrich's kick punch and crunch. The cuing is much better. - posted by Delores on 6/26/2007
AMAZING
It is truly one of the best kickboxing exercises I have ever done. Sherri is full of energy and the exercises are more creative than standard kickboxing videos. This DVD truly transforms your body. It really ranks up there in my higher standard of consistent workouts for cardio. I use this DVD every other day. - posted by Karen on 6/26/2007

Fun workout
I recently tried this workout. I liked it-it was fun. The one thing I would say is to make sure you have a lot of room-I was almost kicking my tv! - posted by Chap on 3/23/2007
Classic kickboxing with hi impact intervals that's intense and fun
I really like this workouts because it's intense, fun with good combos of punching and kicking. There are hi impact intervals (with a low impact modifier) between the kickboxing that get your heart rate up. The pace is fast and I love it! The choreography is tricky because of the punch/kick combos. It took a few times before I got the moves down but when I finally did, It was a lot of fun because I could go all out and intensify the moves! The standing abs segment and capoeira segment will work on your core and legs. It's good and really works on your balance. Thumbs up in my book and a great addition to my kickboxing collection. - posted by Chynna on 1/8/2007

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
