Certified instructor description: Lots of layers and patterns in two very different fat-burners — a step section and a hi/lo program. Kim Miller’s fresh choreography and non-intimidating approach make both workouts fun and surprisingly do-able. All the layers are “deep” — fast-paced, eight-count combos that smoothly build in complexity. You’ll begin with the basics. Then, piece-by-piece, you’ll layer in the interesting variations (e.g. spins, chest pops, pivots, zig zags and hip thrusts). They’re all wide-ranging with a “theatrical,” hip hop feel — like a dancer, you’ll just be movin’ to the music (but Kim also shows some more “athletic” options). DVD has premixed shorter workouts. ©2007. DVD has: 6 premixes (22 to 29-min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus.

CIA 2702: Aerobic Euphoria

Fun choreography
I like Kim, I like her creativity, but I hate her outfit because I can't really see what she is doing. The tassles on her pants, her long sleeve shirt, and the fact that her hair is down all distract me. I like the workout though. Dang it, I wish they would call me before making production decisions like that, but I don't think that they have my number! - posted by Alisha on 5/2/2012
Hated it
I found this workout boring and Kim is really annoying. - posted by Janine on 1/26/2012
Flawlessly Smooth and dynamic
As a long time AAFA certified instructor, I am a challenging customer to satisfy. I know exactly and precisely the type of work-out I want, and what my specific needs are. I needed a fast-paced, (no endless break-downs), choreographically advanced, and expertly cued step and hi/lo routine. With Kim Miller I was not only not disappointed, but extremely impressed and delighted. (She actually has me smiling). Her step choreo is fresh, inspired and keeps me engaged. Her cuing is so expert, and on-time, that I need not look at my screen, and can listen instead, thereby intensifying my performance. Her creativity and personality lend a warmth to this dynamic program. The hi/lo routine is powerfully up-lifting. It is joyous and celebratory as dance fuses with athletics to supply a heart-pumping, pulse-throbbing extravaganza. Her music choices, limited as we instructors are by copyright laws, are nevertheless strong and well integrated, providing often times precise emphasis on specific portions of choreo, thereby increasing the feeling of mastery that the participant experiences. The step and hi/lo mixes included in the program provide a great option for a more targeted need one may have, and I have loved mixing these barely broken down versions into my total daily exercise plan. Thank you Collage for providing exercisers of all types and experience with such a vast library, and thank you for Kim Miller. - posted by Diane on 6/2/2011
Sticking up for Kim
Kim is a great instructor. Her personality and style are very refreshing. If you like basic moves that you can have down in one session, this complex choreography is not for you. The two workouts are equally challenging. She has very good cueing and moves that fit the music. If you like Deirdre Morris and Rob Glick, you'll enjoy this challenge. I keep hoping to see another video by Kim. - posted by Kate on 12/29/2010
Don't think so
This instructor moves like a klutz. I tried both workouts but had to turn them off pretty quickly, I could not handle looking at this instructor. She moves as if her feet were cement blocks. It's like watching someone trying to dance that has no talent. Very non-motivating to say the least. She also could use help in the cueing department. I was very disappointed because of the good reviews and I also own many other CIA videos that I like quite well. Everyone's taste is different, but for me, this DVD was not one to waste my precious workout time with. - posted by holly on 8/30/2010
Great step workout
This is a great step workout with some staying power. I'm a high-intermediate exerciser and have been doing step for 15 years, so I like complex step workouts that don't get boring. This workout has been a regular in my rotation for the past couple of years and I'm not sick of it! Kim is a a sweet, engaging instructor and the music is great. The complexity is comparable to Gay Gasper or Keri Anderson, but a bit more dancey with some moves I haven't seen elsewhere. The intensity is pretty good too; by adding some jumps and high energy I can get my heartrate up. I wish Kim would do more videos. I tried the floor segment a few times but it didn't catch on with me. - posted by Colleen on 3/11/2010
I LIKE IT BUT NOT IN LOVE
I like the dancing, that's all cool & fun but I was a little confused about that one move she kept doing over & over the sache - I think I could do better with just a few saches in the mix - all in all the workout is fun & never really a dull moment - the instructor is bubbly & fun but somewhat lazy & I notice her backup girls were getting just as confused as I was with all the twirls & saches - this is my first CIA workout & I might be willing to purchase more - it was a refreshing change of style - posted by DINO on 4/30/2009
Class act
Love this dvd it has to be one of my favorites. My only argument is that the step workout is a little short. I would love to see Kim do a full length step dvd.The movements are quite easy to follow and each move flows beautifully into the next. Kim is quite delightful ,chatty, easy going and full of fun. Oh yes and the music is fantastic, highly motivating.Go buy! - posted by Ann Marie on 10/15/2008
Makes me feel like the dancer I always wanted to be.
I'm always looking for a new, truly "advanced" workout and this has two terrific workouts on one dvd! The step routine is jazzed up with interesting combinations that are a challenge to learn and execute but make me feel like a dancer by the end. Kim's not kidding about moving your furniture. You'll need a lot of room for the hi-low section and it works best on a wood floor. I look forward to getting and intense cardio workout and having fun doing this. - posted by Sara on 7/24/2008
Tough but good!
It is very complex! I am really good at picking up dance routines, but did have trouble with this one. I only completed the first 20 mins of the step routine. This one is a keeper, it will just take time and practice to make this effective (instead of watching the workout while standing there). There is a lot of going over and around the step while doing turns and multi-step moves. - posted by Julia on 3/11/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.

You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
