Time graph for Amy Bento's All Cardio Hi-Low Knockout
Amy Bento combines aerobic favorites with higher-intensity bootcamp and kickboxing moves. It’s a non-stop fat-burner designed to keep you physically challenged without complex choreography. Each combo starts with familiar, large muscle-group moves like repeaters, jogs, jumping jacks and kickball changes (often intensified with overhead arm motions). That’s followed by explosive bursts of bootcamp and kickboxing — squat thrusts, jump lunges, side kicks and “double front kicks.” But no slowing down; then you’re on to the next combo. It’s all driven by Amy’s contagious energy and great pop-hits music (e.g. “Buttons,” “Truly, Madly, Deeply” and “Go Your Own Way”). Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2008. DVD has: 4 premixes (44-64 min), Chapter menus.

Amy Bento's All Cardio Hi-Low Knockout

Hi-Lo Forever Please!
Amy's energy is infectious and i love the non-stop movement throughout this workout. Some of the combinations are very creative and once you get them heaps of fun, but on my first few attempts, I would NOT have found it boring if Amy had broken them down more, particularly as during the learning phase the moves were not done in 32 count brackets. Having said that... it's still hard to beat a great hi-lo floor workout especially when there is so much variety on offer these days - posted by Helen on 8/19/2008
Good
Great music, nice tape. Modified burpees using the step (do not like too much in my head as I get older). Giving it 4 stars as modifier could have been used more. Other wise a very good tape. Recommend it. - posted by Luli on 7/31/2008
I LOVE MY AMY BENTO!!!
I have about 3 of Amy's workouts and I love each of them. I love high impact aerobics and she is constantly moving the entire time. Her energy is contagious and the music is always great! I look forward to doing her workouts. If I'm not drenched in sweat, I don't feel like I've done a great workout. I never have to worry about that with Amy's workouts. Straight to the shower for me!! Love ya Amy - keep 'em coming! - posted by Stephanie on 7/28/2008
Loved it!
What a great workout! Really got my heartrate up without sacrificing on the choreography. I got most of it on my first try. I'm sure after 2-3 more times I'll have it down perfectly. I will have to agree with the reviewer that said that knockouts 3 and 4 are not as hard as 1 and 2 and that my heartrate did come down after the first half but it was still excellent. The combos were challenging enough to keep my heartrate high enough. I love her energy and her enthusiasm. She's great without being over-the-top. Also, the core work was excellent. What innovative moves! I really feel my core working. Very happy with my purchase. - posted by Adina on 7/28/2008
love amy bento
as an advanced exerciser i have to say that amy's workouts are the only ones i always find challenging every time. no one else really gets my heart rate up to the right intensity for me. and i like the challenge of learning the complex choreography. i've done this workout 5 or 6 times now and have finally mastered that kick ball change thing! yes! this is a super fun, challenging workout -- i think that's my tag line for all my reviews of amy bento's videos! - posted by annie g on 7/18/2008
great music
This has the best music I have ever heard on a workout video. The choreography was very creative with easy moves, but, you need to watch a few times before doing, she does not break down the moves much.It is one of my favorites. - posted by melinda magness on 7/17/2008
This is fun and the music rocks!
Overall I like Amy's hi/lo and enjoy the fact that she isn't repetitive. I do like the choreography in this one and thought the first half was the best. My heart rate was way up there after the second knockout drill. I really have trouble with some of her fast feet moves, like the kickball change, but I substituted for moving knee lifts and it worked out better. I really didn't find her off beat at all with the music. I think it's just a little awkward at first, until you learn the choreography. The music selection was great which gave me more energy. Her knockouts for combos 3&4 were pretty lame and I lost my heart rate for most of the second half. I think I will change those up a little to keep the heart rate. I'm not thrilled with the core work. I felt it in my neck and shoulder (straining) more than my core and I used a set of 5 lb weights. Cathe still rules when it comes to the abs. I find no one can top her. Of her 3 hi/lo's, I still like Hi/Lo Dome the best. This and HLX are tied for second. I will embark on this often, just not the core work. - posted by Cam on 5/23/2008
Good,BUT!!
Great music, and choreography, but Amys not on beat with the music. The phrase, you know, 32 counts. Drove me crazy. If you teach it might be difficult unless you can ignore the phrase.Iv'e been teaching for 18 yrs., so it's hard for me to ignore. When I audition instructors, I check to see if they can teach on beat. It's one of the fundamentals of teaching aerobics. - posted by Vicke on 5/23/2008
Great music
As usual, Amy made a winner here. The music is the best I've heard in a long time and it really gets you going. I would consider myself to be an advanced exerciser, so I found that the first combo didn't get my heartrate up as much as the last three, but I sure was sweating buckets by the end. I didn't think the choreography was so challenging that I couldn't get it by the third try, which is good because I usually find that if I can get the choreography on the first try that means I'll be bored of it a lot sooner, and there will be no problem with boredom with this one. I really enjoy her two back-up exercises, you can tell they have practiced this workout many times because they are always right on cue. You definitely won't regret buying this one. - posted by Amanda on 5/14/2008
Very intense workout
For those of you looking for a very intense , cardio only, workout this is it. As an "advanced" person myself, I was looking for something that would really challenge me. I have run 2 marathons and am in great shape, cardiovascularly. This workout had me sweating buckets 20-30 minutes in. It is a little bit tricky for those are not too coordinated. Amy does not slow down to "walk you through it" so you have to just jump right in and try to follow. It took me 3 times doing it to really feel that I got the moves down. Once you have it though, it is pretty simple. I also have Cathe's cardio fusion and this one is just as , if not a little bit more, challenging than that one. Amy has great enthusiasm and the music is great too! - posted by Carri on 5/11/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
