Certified instructor description: Salsa, hip hop and retro — everyone is groovin’ in this high-energy fat-burner. With three dance styles and lots of tempo and directional changes, the variety is sure to keep you movin’. Jennifer Galari always begins with the basics and then adds in the complexity and intensity (so it’s fun and easy to follow but never slow). You’ll start with a salsa medley — mambos, cha chas and sways. Then it’s funky hip hop where you’ll add in some attitude and “get low.” Finally, you’ll be dancing back to the 70’s with an upbeat series of motivating disco tunes. ©2004. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Crunch: Fat Burning Dance Party

Not sure...
I wanted to like this. I will definitely give it another go but the second half of the workout was really confusing. I've got rhythm but am seriously uncoordinated after doing this workout. I did fine for the latin portion of the workout. Once Jennifer got into the Funk, Hip Hop, and Disco I was LOST! I did work up a good sweat though so from a cardio perspective it was a good workout. It was also fun until I started tripping over my own two feet. I just didn't find the cues in the second part as good and the changes were too fast between each one for me to catch on. I'm sure I'd get better if I kept doing it so I'll try it again. It does have fun factor. - posted by Kiesha on 7/7/2011
fun
This is a fun cardio workout. I like Jennifer Galardi's videos- she makes them fun & enjoyable- though I was an aerobic instructor 20 years ago- I am getting back into working out & back in shape again- since having a few surgeries- so I am at the beginner/intermediate stage- though I think if I was at the advanced stage I would still enjoy this workout. - posted by Donna on 5/21/2010
One of my favorites
For me, this is super fun and a solid intermediate workout. Once I learned the steps, I could really up my energy output by modifying the moves to make them harder for me. My favorite section in the hip hop. Sure Jennifer makes some corny scripted comments in this video, but still comes off as a genuinely nice and fresh person anyhow. - posted by Ledette on 5/21/2010
Holla!
I can't believe this does not have more stars! This is by far my favorite cardio only workout. Even though I can't always keeps up, it's something for me to work up to. Someday I'll get it right! I love that there are 2 dances for each "party", so you always know where you are in the workout as a whole. Her cuing is AWESOME and I love her dorky enthusiasm... it keeps me so motivated. I will definitely get another Jennifer workout. - posted by Mandy on 4/4/2009
One of the Crunch's best!
I really liked this video! It is a lot of fun and I was surprised that I worked up a sweat and got my heartrate up. Do not think that because it says dance video that you won't work. You will! Jennifer is an excellent instructor who cues very well. I wish that she made more videos like this. I would love it. Let me add that I am not a teenager. I am in my 30s so do not think that this is geared towards teens. I enjoyed it very much and I am adding this to my rotation. I have this on vhs but I am ordering the dvd version. I give it five stars. A few of the moves may seem difficult but they are very easy to catch on. I got them all on the first time I did this video. The music is great and there isn't the whooping that are in some of the Crunch videos. I love Jennifer. She puts you at ease and her body is flawless! It is very nice to have a video that doesn't seem like it's a workout but it is. Lots of fun moves and choreography. Crunch pretty please make more videos like this!!! :) - posted by Jonica on 9/23/2008
Awkward moves
I have used this video multiple times (mostly because I did not own a lot of other videos). The three different sections are unequal: whereas the salsa and retro dance parties are at a good level of intensity for me (beginner/int), the funk part (second dance party) I found excruciatingly difficult. I enjoy the retro dance party the most. However, the salsa party always makes me feel like answering back to Jennifer: “No, the hip movement alone does not make this a latin dance!” The “salsa” moves feel awkward, and nothing about this choreography feels latin at all. Still fun, though, and a nice change from my now growing collection of exercise videos. - posted by Eve on 8/8/2008
Definitely a beginner/intermediate video
This is a video that I used in my rotation to shed the weight that I gained during pregnancy and to get back to exercising 4 to 5 times a week like I was doing pre-pregnancy. It is definitely effective and it will get your heart pumping. - posted by Michelle on 3/28/2008
not so much
I am a big-time Collage Video supporter and typically only write reviews for videos I have kept, enjoyed, and used over a long period of time. However, I would have wanted to be warned before I ordered this video. I tried this workout on three different occasions, and I was displeased every time. It seemed to burn very few calories, was not enjoyable (and I love dance workouts!), and the instructor's attempts at cuing and teaching the moves were incredibly annoying. If you want an enjoyable, calorie-blasting dance workout, I highly recommend videos by Lisa Nunziella. If you want a less intense but still solid workout, I'd recommend the Vanessa Isaac videos, especially the Brazilian Dance Workout. - posted by Amie on 1/15/2008
Fun!!
Ok so I am a teenager and I am working out so i can loose a pant size or two. I really enjoyed this workout, it was fun and I broke a sweat. I am in sports so I am used to hard practices but I thought that this was a good dvd. I especially liked the latin and hip-hop dance parties. I did though think that the retro dance party was hard to do on carpet and I didnt really like it. Over all I thought it was a pretty good workout. p.s. i've been doing this for a couple of weeks - posted by Taylor on 11/29/2007
It started out fun, but...nah
This one didn't hold my interest. I love dance workouts, and usually keep them around for 'easy does it but do something' days, but this is not my cup of tea. I liked the Salsa sections, but hated the other sections. I didn't think the moves flowed well, I didn't raise my heartrate much, and some of the moves are tricky on carpet. Jen is great, I'll keep the Prevention dance workout she leads, but this one has a better home elsewhere. - posted by GLB on 11/13/2007

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
