Time graph for Dance and Be Fit: Abs Burn
An elegant series of sensuous, core-focused dance moves (“make it big, make it graceful, make it fluid”). It’s a time-efficient program specifically designed to help you burn calories as you tighten your abs. The aero/tone segments feature an energizing fusion of ballet, Latin and modern dance (all core-muscle-driven — the stronger your core, the more powerful the moves). For variety, they include lots of turns, tempo changes and body-position options. The floor toning sections are also unusually flowing and graceful; they work all four abdominal muscles plus your lower back. ©2009. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option, Wide screen.

Dance and Be Fit: Abs Burn

Best Ab Workout Ever!
First of all, over the years I have collected a large variety of exercise video programs, starting way back with Jane Fonda, Richard Simmons, Charlene Prickett and Gilad, etc. (By the way, I will buy a Gilad workout just to look at him). Anyway, I have some really good ones that are my favorites. However, I must say this particular ab workout has to be right there on the top. I could tell a difference after just practicing during my initial previewing of the program. Total floor ab workouts have never helped me. Although, I have other standing ab workouts, this workout is unlike any work-out of its type that I've ever tried. Of course, there is a little floor work. I was a little slow with some of the movements at first, but they are getting easier. But, I have learned not to give up and if you do any exercise consistently, you get better at it. Besides, I do not like a workout that is too easy. This is the third Jennifer Mullen Brazilian workout that I have and I hope that she makes more. I think that throughout all my exercise experiences, I have mostly used the same instructors. They were like my comfort zone. Sometimes I did not always get good results. Therefore, it has really worked for me to really check out the videos and try something new like Jennifer's Brazillian workouts. Whether you are a dancer or have two left feet, there is something about dancing, particularly, Brazilian workouts that lift your spirits, make you feel beautiful, and just make you smile, even at 6 A.M. Exercise videos are great to do that especially in this fragile economy. At least you can feel and look good. I love reading everyone's critiques because they are like your support system. Of course, they help you to make a decision about the work-outs, such as the voice-over's that Jennifer has on her work-outs. Well, I happen to luv them!!! I can concentrate on the actual work-out better. Within the last month, I have been able to wear three outfits that I had started to give away. I am getting emotional just thinking about it. By the way I love the bonus features because I buy more workouts. ...and as always, thank you Collage for giving us so many choices and allowing us the previews. - posted by Nancy/South Carolina on 9/8/2009
Love IT!!!
Abs Burn is a fun and effective dance workout that is refreshingly different than other ab dvds. I have learned how to isolate my hips and torso to create a beautiful shape for my entire mid-section while dancing! Thank you Kimberly. I love this DVD! - posted by Beth on 7/21/2009
Nice add-on for a change of pace
This is the first Kimberly Mullens workout that I did. I have done it a few times now. Actually, the one that I do is the dance workout. It starts with floor abs then moves into standing/dance. I have used it on days when I didn't feel like working out but wanted to do something and as an add-on. I really don't work up a sweat with this one unless I do it after another workout. However, the routines are easy to follow and the moves are new to me, so I have fun. The music is nice as well. One major problem that I have with this DVD and the other Kimberly Mullen DVDs is that the cuing is terrible. It might be because it is provided via a taped voiceover, but they really need to fix this in the future. It can be very frustrating and distracting. - posted by Bellaalma on 7/18/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
