Certified instructor description: Two styles of Brazilian dance plus a Capoeira martial arts segment. You’re sure to be motivated by its authentic Brazilian feel (rhythm, energy and passion). You’ll start with Maculelê — familiar fitness moves infused with tribal stomps and Latin sensuality (e.g. double step-touches blended with sexy hip pops). Samba Reggae is next. It features varied Carnival-style Latin dance moves combined with more bounces, sways and chest-pops. The Capoeira section is truly unique. It blends fast-paced stick-fighting cardio with non-traditional floor-based toning (e.g. “the spider”). Great drum music in a jungle-inspired outdoor setting. ©2008. Dance and Be Fit: Brazilian Body

Light and Easy
This is so much fun and very easy. You can go all out or if you have injuries like I do, you can take it easy and still get a decent work out! - posted by Eva on 6/5/2011
Brazillian body.
This workout was just what I needed. I had had stiffness in my hips and poor posture. This strengthened me. I sit tall and feel more like a willow than a rusty gate! - posted by Amy on 5/22/2011
Fun but HORRIBLE cueing
Just did this for the first time. Overall it will probably be a fun workout after I do it a few times. The voice over cuing wouldn't bother me if she actually told you what was coming and what the count was going to be. Ugh! The production is great, scenery beautiful and the dances are fun. But it's one that you will have to watch and do a few times before you can get the full effect and learn the moves. The moves aren't difficult, but until you can figure out her counting style and what the moves are - it will be a challenge. I have many other dance workouts that were easier to learn as the instructor shows you the moves and tells you how many reps you are going to do and at what tempo. I have been using at home workouts for 20+ years and can learn choreography fairly easy. - posted by Brenda on 4/4/2011

Very energetic. Love the music-Some moves I'll have to work on but will get it down after repeated work out. I like this gal and hope to see more like this. - posted by joyce on 4/2/2011
Great workout...
alot of fun. i found muscles i forgot i had. learning the dance moves kept me interested and the workout was done before i knew it. i will purchase other similar titles to add to my collection. - posted by Jessica on 3/31/2011
The jury is out
I'm not sure about this workout yet. On the plus side, it's innovative and the production values are first rate. The outdoor location is beautiful. I really like some of the arm strengthening moves. My big complaint is the cuing. I often see Collage reviewers complain about voice-over cuing which typically doesn't bother me. On this video though, it's an obvious liability: cuing is sporadic and sometimes comes late if it comes at all. The instructor's counting is hard to follow. If you can get past your impatience for the first several times, it might get much better. I found the cuing most glaringly bad on the maculete segment. There is also an odd sequencing of moves in the capoeira segment. It starts with stretches which blows whatever cardio steam you had gathered, moves to floor abs work then back to standing Brazilian martial arts moves. I am guessing this is some kind of traditional order. It would be preferable to have all of the standing work followed by floor work followed by stretching. Not sure if I'm keeping this yet. - posted by Vanessa on 1/27/2011

A little hard to follow at first, instructor assumes you already know all the moves! Sometimes cues are poorly given. But after dancing a couple of times, it became easier. A nice change of pace when you want a little variety. I do this one at least once a week, and it does give me a good workout. - posted by Donna on 11/6/2010
Great Idea- poorly executed
The dance and be fit series was a major disappointment to me. I tried them all. There are mistakes (not equal presentation of left versus right) and they are voiced over rather than led, so unless you plan on memorizing the workout prior to doing it, they are terrible to follow- Save your Money!- Do Not Purchase these particular videos if you want a fun and effective workout, I would suggest some of the others that look much better. - posted by Amanda on 10/16/2010
Who Knew?
I've accumulated a lot of exercise CDs and videos over the years, but this is my new Number One. I mean I REALLY liked it and I don't say that lightly or often. But I also like dance exercise videos. If you're not moderately coordinated, it's probably not for you and it's certainly not for those just starting to exercise. But I loved learning new steps from a different culture and getting a taste of Carnival. It will take a couple more tries before I internalize the turns and moves, but I thought the cueing was just right. And I loved the settings and the variety of fast and slow exercises. I liked this so much I started looking to see what else was available from this company. I give it a high five! By the way, I'm 51. - posted by Pat on 9/9/2010

I love this video! It's refreshing and I like the beautiful scenery. Step out of the box and try this work out video! It's positive and fun...and most of all you get great results! - posted by Collette on 8/11/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
