Certified instructor description: A sexy, fun fat-burner that feels like you’re actually dancing, not “working out.” Jennifer Galardi’s friendly, clear cuing makes it both effective and easy to follow (the DVD also has an 18-minute, step-by-step tutorial). You get three different hip hop dance segments. The first features lots of chest pops, stomps, throws and rhythm changes. The second focuses on adding your own style with some new moves. The third section — “smooth it out” — is slower paced with some standing corework isolations. “Light” hip hop instrumental music. ©2010. DVD has: Chapter menus, Region 1.

Dance Off the Inches: Cardio Hip Hop

One of the better dance videos
I've tried a few dance videos and returned most of them. However, this one was a lot of fun. I didn't think I'd get much of a workout, but if I really concentrated on using my body the way the dancers do I couldn't help but work my body. I'm glad that I bought it. I would have given it five stars if it had been a little longer or been even more of a challenge. I'm an exercise fanatic so, don't let my four star rating discourage the average individual. - posted by Margo on 2/19/2011
Just ok
I have the Hip Hop Party dvd as well and enjoyed that one more. I thought the music was better and the moves flowed well. The music on this one doesn't seem to mesh well with the moves, at least not for me. I have to enjoy the music to be able to get into dancing. The moves on this one are little more difficult to learn, however, I didn't do the tutorial - just wanted to jump into the workout. I've done it twice and I still don't have all the moves down and just didn't think it was as much fun as Hip Hop Party. As always Jennifer is a great instructor and her workouts are fun, this one just wasn't one of my favorites.I am holding onto this one though. I want to go through the tutorial and then give it another try. Maybe it will grow on me :-) - posted by Brenda on 2/18/2011
A bit tricky, but fun
This was a bit tricky to get at first, but the breakdown of the moves tutorial is helpful and I have to admit, I had forgotten how much energy dancing takes. It was definitely a workout and a lot of fun and the nice thing about dancing is that you are so focused on getting the moves that the time just flies! - posted by Joanne on 1/29/2011
a fun workout
This workout is so fun. You don't even realize you're working out. When I started using it I was so focused on getting the moves right that I didn't realize how hard I was working. Plus, I enjoy going out dancing so it's given me some added style. The first section of the video, I would say, is definitely more "intermediate" than "beginner-intermediate". I consider myself an intermediate exerciser and I definitely broke a sweat. The second section is a little easier and less intense. The ONLY thing about the video, for me personally, is that I have to remember to maintain a good posture. Otherwise my back is a little sore the next day (although this is probably due to all the chest pops and hip thrusts.) Also some of the moves require you to be a little hunched over. But other than that, it's an awesome workout!! - posted by catherine on 12/5/2010
Jennifer is great, as always
She is one of my favorite instructors because I actually enjoy her great routines. This one didn't let me down! - posted by Karen on 11/27/2010
at first
the choreography was a little difficult to pick up (because I am very poorly coordinated and have NO background with dance or aerobics AT ALL lol) but each successive time I used the video it got easier and easier. I really ended up enjoying the video and Jennifer is just fun to train with c: Good good workout and nice for staying in shape during cold Alaska winters! I would highly recommend :) - posted by Myranda on 11/18/2010
A Good Sweat Dance Workout
I love this dance routine. It was hard at first but by the third time I had it completely nailed. Practice makes perfect. I work up a great sweat everytime. Also, I can feel my core and butt getting worked. I will try Jennifer's other dance workouts. She has a really good teaching style. - posted by Tiffany on 10/18/2010
As Always, Jennifer Delivers
This is a fun hip hop dance DVD with fresh new moves. And I certainly broke a sweat by the end. The ONLY down side to this DVD, as well as other Dance Off the Inches and 10 Minute Solution DVD's, is that they never put ALL the sections into one big dance at the end. That would be a great way to finish all of these series of DVD's. It would make a great "bonus" section. I would really like to see that in the future. - posted by Sandy on 9/22/2010
Fun Dance Workout
This DVD offers a tutorial step guide and if you are a beginner or have two left feet you will want to start off with this first. I have done several of Jennifer's dance workouts and know her style so I did not do the step guide. I won't claim to have had an easy go of it because of that however. That is just fine for me because I like to be challenged and have something to work up to. Jennifer does a great job breaking the segments down and she uses metafores like "the lasso" and "lawnmower" to explain how you should be doing the move. As far as intensity, it's not extreme high intensity - there are some moves that have jumping if you do not like high impact - you could just modify with your own move if you wanted to. It's a lot of fun and as Jennifer says in the workout - this is dancing not aerobics. - posted by Missy on 9/20/2010
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
