Time graph for Dance Off the Inches: Dance it Off Ballroom
Taught by an authentic ballroom dance professional, you get moves derived from Cha Cha, Samba and Jive. It’s a great way to burn fat as you practice a variety of fun, flirty steps you can take to the nightclub floor. Each dance style is taught in a separate segment. Within each segment, you also get a lively mix of movement variations (e.g. the Cha Cha “triple step” has a completely different pattern than the usual Cha Cha). Kristina Milova’s upbeat attitude and easy-to-follow cuing is exceptionally motivating. Lots of foot-movin’ music with a solid beat. DVD includes an 18-minute dance step tutorial. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus, Region 1.

Dance Off the Inches: Dance it Off Ballroom

Great dance workout!
This is really fun and includes real dancing (unlike some "dance-inspired" work-outs). In each segment you learn a routine based on a different style of ballroom dancing. The instructor is great--very engaging. Cuing is good and the step guide at the beginning is very helpful, since the instructor slowly breaks down each move. Even with that, I couldn't follow the entire video on the first try but I'll keep working at it. One final note: when I started the DVD I only intended to do the cha cha segment, but I was having so much fun I ended up going through all 3 segments. - posted by Anna on 7/20/2010
Love the music
Love the music and seeing the women dance. She mentions in the first that we need to Learn the steps. It sounds like there is an instruction book or it's on the DVD, but they are not on mine. A front end instruction and slow pace would help those of us that don't know the steps. I still tried to follow, but it was difficult. I won't give up until I can do it. It is a great workout even if you are only trying to keep up. Also works the brain. - posted by Lynn on 3/16/2010
I loved it!
I loved this video, it was so fun! It was over before I even knew it and I worked up quite a sweat. I even ended up rewinding it and doing some of it again. I hope they make another ballroom video. - posted by Bobbie on 6/24/2009
Very Fun Workout!
I've had this video for a week and really like it. I especially love the Jive section; it's so much fun to do. The Cha Cha section is a little too slow for my taste. I haven't practiced the samba section yet much because I keep skipping to the Jive section. I wish this instructor would produce more videos. She has a style of dance that is different from most other instructors I've worked out with, so it's a lot of fun to learn these new moves. I consider myself at an intermediate level, and so this DVD is comfortable for me. I recommend this for anyone who loves to dance! - posted by Kate on 5/10/2009
Good for Light Days
This is a fun tape for your light workout days! One of my favorite "Dance of the Inches" videos. While it's not the calorie burn of hardcore aerobics or kickboxing, it is a feisty dance video and enjoyable to do. The three dances-cha cha, samba and jive all have some high energy steps in them and a variety of moves you haven't likely seen before. The instructor is very good, with good cuing. There's a separate step guide for people who need the extra time to learn the basic moves. My only regret is that there is not an extra bonus dance or two--wish the tape was longer. I'd buy another video with this instructor. - posted by Robin K on 2/24/2009
Fun, Keep you moving dance work-out!
I really enjoyed this work-out...it has a step guide you can use until you get the steps down and they are easy. then the workout comes and it is fun and i got a good sweat out of it. The instructor and her instruction are perfect! The samba, cha cha and jive have lots of hip movement, jumping and turning. A great cool down segment with dance moves instead of the same old cool down moves on most work-outs. I will be using this work-out weekly! Great purchase! - posted by Marti from Beaverton, Oregon on 2/16/2009
A Good Dance Workout
I really enjoyed this DVD as I have enjoyed all the DVDs in the "Dance off the Inches" series. This instructor is really good, she explains the moves well, has a nice pace and encouraging personality. It is definitely one for the easier days as I barely broke a sweat, but that is one of the reasons it is a good DVD it is just fun and refreshing, not strenuous. I am glad I purchased this and am looking forward to getting the "Dance off the Inches Country Line Dancing" DVD, also. - posted by Lori on 1/12/2009
Dance it Off Ballroom is FUN
This dvd is so much fun. The dvd starts off with a warm up then goes into the cha cha, samba then the jive. Kristina is very upbeat and spices up the workout. You can learn some sexy ballroom steps in this dvd. If you are having trouble, there is a separate, 18-minute step guide that shows you the 10 moves, one by one. I would suggest you start off that section before you do the workout. As a result, even with the Step Guide, you may not get all the moves right the first few times around, but this workout is so much fun that it shouldn't matter. This dvd can be used on light days. - posted by Glossy01 on 12/14/2008
What the Dancing With the Stars workouts should've been !
This is a really well done DVD. It's what the Dancing With the Stars workouts should've been. The cueing is really good. The lighting is nice & bright. The flow of the workout is really nice. Each step just blends seemlessly one into another. The step guide is really well done, which is good since some folks will really need it since they hop right into dancing, no explanation in the workout itself. That's not to say it's that hard to follow. It's not. It's very basic, but some folks with no dance experience whatsoever would do well to look at the step guide first. It may help to have a dance background, ANY dance background - you don't have to be a ballroom dancer, but it's so repetitive that even if you don't view the step guide first you could eventually get the steps. That brings me to the repetitive nature, which could be a negative to some, but was not to me. There is ALOT of taking it from the top, and I do mean ALOT ! She gives you a new step, take it from the top. Adds another step, take it from the top, and so on. So, it is highly repetitive. The music is pretty bad, but I've heard worse. There are alot of turns & pivots, so if you workout on carpet you may want to do this workout barefoot, or with socks that are carpet friendly, or a pair of dance sneakers that can pivot on any surface. The intensity of the workout, as far as fitness pace, would be high beginner to intermediate. If I were to rate this on dance experience difficulty, I'd say intermediate. An intermediate level dancer could hop right in. Beginner level will need the step guide, or could learn the steps eventually due to the repetitive nature of the workout. I really like this DVD. I think it's very well done & is probably the best Dance Off The Inches title available yet. - posted by Melissa S. on 12/12/2008

Reading a Time Graph

Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
