Certified instructor description: Five complete 26 to 31-minute workouts, each featuring just one Latin dance style. It’s a focused approach that lets you completely immerse yourself in the rhythms, movements and music of each dance (Cha Cha, Salsa, Merengue, Samba and Rhumba). Lisa Nunziella is an energetic and inspirational instructor. She starts with the basic foot patterns, then quickly adds in the fun stuff — pivots, slides and swivels … double steps, hip shakes and tempo variations. To maximize fat burning, she never really slows down (beginners can “learn on the go” or use the 15-minute tutorial). On-stage drum music. DVD also includes a 14-minute bonus segment that combines all the dance styles. ©2007. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Dance with Lisa: 5-Day Latin Dance

not enough instructions for me
Maybe I am not ready for this. I found the instructions for the steps almost non-existant. - posted by angela on 5/10/2012
A real dance video
Lisa is a great dancer, her moves are authentic and her style very Latin. The music is also the real thing. The video is well-organized into 5 dance segments and extra segments that break the steps down a bit. The pace is pretty fast, though, very high energy. A lot of fun if you love to dance. I'm now a senior and I do less Latin dancing, so for me the pace is a little too quick and the mood a little frantic. But if you're moderately fit already and like the challenge of a dance routine, this is a great video for you. - posted by Rebecca on 4/19/2012
Gets your heart pumping!
I am in my early 40's and I have no dance background; my workouts have mostly consisted of strength training/toning type DVDs, but this one is great because it is challenging without being too difficult and it really keeps you moving. I wanted pure cardio and this definitely hits the mark; I love the way the DVD is organized so that you can see the step instruction separately from the actual routine, so you don't waste time with every viewing on the instructions like other DVDS often do. Some other reviewers have commented on Lisa's New York accent being distracting, but I didn't find that to be the case at all, because I was too busy having fun with the dances. Yes, it takes a little practice and concentration to get the steps down, but its not that hard and if it was too basic, then there would be no challenge at all and I would be bored. You can start with one of the easier dances, like the merengue and then work up to the more challenging ones. Overall, I am very very happy with this DVD, and look forward everyday to working up a sweat to one of the 5 different workouts, which I also think is a great value for the price. My hips, core and legs are definitely feeling the difference. I work out on a hardwood floor and would not recommend this for carpeted floors. - posted by Karen on 4/15/2012
Disappointing
This DVD as some good points such as it is fast paced with shorter segments, and a potentially good workout with interesting music. But - there were major drawbacks for me. To begin with, the music and moves weren't different enough from one segment to the other. The workouts consist of actual Latin dance moves which can be good or bad depending on your situation. If exercising on a good dance floor with proper dance shoes, it would be good. If exercising at home in your usual rubber sole exercise shoes, and especially if on the carpet, they can't be done easily or comfortably since there are foot swivels etc. This is a DVD that I will use only occasionally for a change of pace. - posted by Claudia on 3/15/2012
Moves are backwards
I have been a salsa instructor for 5 years. This video should really only be used for people who are experienced with latin dance and can pick up moves quickly. These are real dance moves, not just workout routines, and she dances them well. Unfortunately, she does not mirror the moves for us, so our muscle memory will have learned all the moves backwards. She faces you without flipping the steps. So either do everything backwards to her, or learn the entire dance on the wrong feet. - posted by Meri on 3/14/2012
Good Sweat
This is the first time I order a Lisa Nuziella workout and I must say that I really enjoyed it. I have ordered previous dance workouts that did little to nothing for me, but this one is no game. Yes, she is fast, but she explains each step. It is just a matter of practicing the steps before you venture out doing the exercise. I do feel that her moves seem to be a bit too repetitive, but some may like that. She is tough but great!! - posted by Audi on 3/12/2012
Where's the music?
In my opinion this should be labelled "complex choreography" to describe the fast footwork and pace- not for me. The video is poorly produced- what's the use of having a drummer on stage if you can't hear him or the fun music, just the shouted instructions? - posted by Mary on 2/20/2012
Definitely a good one - fast, fun, and gives you a good workout
As some others have already said, this may not be for someone who has never done an aerobics or dance type workout before. Lisa does go fast, and you have to be comfortable with feeling a bit silly because you won't get the steps right out of the gate. But with repetition, they do begin to gel. And she does offer a section to break down the steps more slowly that you can practice if you wish before diving into the routine at faster tempo. This is one of my favs in my workout library. - posted by Jennifer on 2/4/2012
Nah
Again, another video that if you really want to learn the routine you'd keep it and keep at it. I guess I didn't like it enough to keep it. It's going back... - posted by Rebecca on 1/7/2012
Stick with it
This is a fun exercise program, and it is unique because you learn the real dance steps. It's difficult at first, but I would encourage those who didn't like it at first to stick with it. At first you have to accept you won't stay up and you may feel lost, but going back and forth between the "Explain the steps" feature and the workout, it gets easier and more fun. As you master some of the moves, it seems like she slows down. Eventually, you're really dancing with some fun steps. I've been working through one dance at a time, doing the same dance for every workout until I'm pretty good before trying a new dance. It's a good workout, especially if as you improve you focus on activate your core muscles - standing tall and pulling in stomach - as you improve. The warmup starts a little fast, so I start with the "learn the steps" and then the warmup or I do my own thing for the first minute or so. The cool down at the ends is very good. Now that I am competent at two dances (Cha Cha and Salsa), I can get a good hour workout doing them both, or the 30 minute option. 5/22/12: I had to add to my original review. A surprise benefit of this workout for me is that it relieves tension in my shoulders and back. I spend a lot of my day at the computer and shoulders get tight. I'm not sure why, but this workout loosens them up. - posted by Bev on 1/7/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
