Certified instructor description: An easy-to-follow, walking-style workout that varies the tempo and movements to maximize results (and minimize boredom). This program gently builds in intensity while constantly rotating the speeds and fat-burning techniques (e.g. pumping arms, higher knee lifts). Anyone can do these super-basic moves — simple marches, lateral steps, lunges and heel taps. Debbie’s calm, knowledgeable cuing is exceptionally motivating. She’s like a coach training an elite athlete — she keeps you mentally focused while explaining what to do and offering positive encouragement. Filmed in Hawaii, you’ll feel like you’re exercising in a tropical garden (it even has a relaxing segment of just Debbie’s cuing as you enjoy the Hawaiian scenery). Note: For your time-crunched days, this DVD also has a pre-programmed 32-minute version of the same workout. DVD also includes an 8-minute "Meet Debbie Rocker" segment. ©2006. DVD has: 1 premix (33-min. alternate workout), Close captions.

Debbie Rocker's Walking for Weight Loss

I really enjoyed the workout!
I thoroughly enjoyed the workout. It is the first time I tried a Debbie Rocker workout and she really knows how to get the burn without going too far. She pushes you to keep going. It has a great variety of exercises and I really like having a person show options for lower impact workout just in case it is needed. I always find that a helpful tool. - posted by Kay on 4/10/2010
Why the bad reviews?
I actually like this workout. It starts out a little slow, and there is that segment where you are just watching scenery and walking in place. It is gorgeous scenery though. I wear a weighted vest when I do this and it takes the intensity up a little. The squats, lunges, and knee lifts add intensity as well. Overall, this is a good low impact work-out, and Debbie shows you that you don't have to be jumping like a maniac or sweating buckets to get a nice workout. This is great for walkers and runners who don't like to go outside in bad weather but still want to move. I'm keeping this in the rotation. - posted by Mary Anne on 3/7/2010
Not what I expected
As a beginner, I've been doing a lot of Leslie Sansone's workouts and am enjoying them. But I wanted to try a bit of variety, so I tried Debbie's. I guess the old adage is true: If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I just didn't care for this DVD. First, it didn't get my heart rate up as I expected. We marched in place quite a bit. Second, there were some toning moves that were more challenging, but all those lunges are hard on my knees. Lastly, Ms. Rocker is even MORE chatty than Leslie! I know she was trying to be encouraging, but it just didn't work for me. It wasn't all bad...the scenery is lovely and I liked the skater series. But I probably won't do it again. - posted by Krista on 3/5/2010
Great way to waist your money! Throw it into the trash or buy this dvd!
I loved waisteing my money on this dvd. Debbie treats you like a toddler, i am 59, no toddler here. She claims that her dvd is a INTERMEDIATE, but really my mother in-law could do it, it is lower than a begginer. She talks all the time, never shuts up. I under stand that you have to let your readers know what to do and keep them intrested. But, i cannot beleive that i am saying this, but music is prettier than her voice. She just yaks away and you cannot even foucuse on the moves. .She will say to do something "now", then after a minute of wasted time marching, she starts the new move without even telling you. I don't know how much time her group had to spend trying to figure out when to start the exercises, but i do know that it was a waste of stress. So, buy a prevention dvd, or one that still motavates you, but lets you foucuse, one that isn't this chatty mouth. - posted by Leonia on 2/25/2010
Fantastic Program!
I have been training as directed by Debbie for the past two weeks. I'm 66 years old, and I had avoided physical education for the last several decades. At my age I was wondering how to restart. I bought this video because of the catchy title, as I was interested in losing weight (220 lbs!). I think Debbie is a fantastic trainer and I'm now beginning to lose weight and to develop the habit of training daily. I've lost 5 lbs so far, and as Debbie says, the weight loss becomes a secondary objective. The real benefit of the training program is the way the training is structured in different levels of intensity, and the the way Debbie takes me through. Thank you so much Debbie - I'm really grateful!! The best to express my thanks is to recommend this everyone I know. - posted by Harry on 12/29/2009
great workout but too much talking
I thought this was a very good workout. When I finished, I felt like I had walked for a long time and had gotten an excellent walking workout. I really wish, though, that there would be an option for music only. I found myself getting really annoyed with her totally nonstop talking and repeating herself about how she is going to take us all the way, she's the coach, etc. Not necessary. I'll continue using it, though, because of the quality of how the workout is set up, i.e., intervals and also lower body toning moves. - posted by Laurie on 9/1/2009
Great workout
I really, really love Debbie Rocker. I have her Am/PM workout and it's one of my favorites too. I just got this one and tried it right away. She is a very matter of fact, no nonsense kind of instructor. She talks too, but is far less annoying then Leslie. I plan to get all her videos as budget permits. I hope that she creates some more. How about a step workout? - posted by Gisela on 8/18/2009
Could not even do the workout- too much chatter!
I'm sorry to say, but Debbie talks way too much. She takes the first three minutes just to explain what she is going to do (so you will have to listen to this intro every time) and after that, she just keeps talking! I thought Leslie was bad, but this lady is worse. I think this has the potential to be a good workout- too bad there is not a "music only" option to silence her chatter. - posted by Anne on 8/8/2009
My First DR workout and I love it!
A friend told me about Debbie Rocker's walking videos and I started with them this past spring. I LOVE Debbie Rocker! She is so encouraging and yet she gets me to do a very good workout. I haven't used the DVDs much yet, but in my opinion, the CD workout that is included is well worth the money. My daughter put it on to my MP3 player and away I went. I am toning up and just loving my walks. Specifically this Walking for Weight Loss workout has helped me to firm up. I have lost inches and I feel so good. I'm not at my goal yet, but I am getting positive comments and "what are you doing to get those results?" Thanks Debbie! - posted by Dawn on 6/15/2009
Good workout!!!
I really like this video because of all the squats and lunges because of this my heart rate goes crazy and my legs are getting a nice shape. You get out of it what you put into it. Some reviews complained that the right, left cuing was off. I've worked out for many years and have worked out with so many video. I know the drill so if an instructor is off, that doesn't bother me because I'll just go the other direction.....it's really do big deal especially if you been working out for years, I know how to improvise...it can be a problem however for a beginner because they are just learning the concept and are following everything to the T. Over all great walking program with lots of lower body toning...which is so good for your metabolism. - posted by Amy Campos on 6/7/2009
