Certified instructor description: Two 20-minute aero/tone interval segments followed by a flexibility routine. The variety is endless — from dance aerobics and kickboxing to sports drills and vertical leaps; from pliés and lunges to chest presses and curls. The high energy and counted-out reps are boot-camp-style, but Denise is never “in your face.” Instead, she motivates you with a positive, enthusiastic attitude (“use your power,” “you’re a winner”). The first section is fat-burning-oriented with lots of fast-paced cardio bursts. The second section focuses on functional fitness; it’s designed to build the strength used in everyday activities. Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2006. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Close captions, Region 1.

Denise Austin's Boot Camp Body Blast

Just right, actually!
I've recently come back to this video and it is wonderful! It really makes you sweat and I really feel stress relief after doing it. I also feel like a fat burning machine! Do either workout followed by the stretch and you will be amazed! - posted by Jennifer on 5/1/2012
Terrible
Denise can't stop talking! Her cueing is off, the moves can be awkward. I have another of her videos that gives me to option of turning off the chatter - no such luck on this one. This one will go to the Thrift Shop soon. - posted by janet on 4/13/2012
Just Boot Camp Enough
This is my kind of Boot Camp exercise video. It is challenging, but not to the point of feeling that it is too much! - posted by Cynthia on 3/4/2012
Good One by Denise
I do a lot of Jari Love's bootcamp style workouts, which are a lot harder than this one, but I still like this one as well. Denise's moves are all good, easy to follow bootcamp moves. I like this DVD mixed in with my other DVDs for a variety of intensities. A solid workout! - posted by Holly on 1/27/2012
Really great workouts!
Easy to follow and understand! Denise delivers! - posted by Kris on 12/15/2011
Boring? Anything but...
Boring she is not! As a veteran fitness instructor, Denise has been my media mentor over the years through both her Lifetime show and countless DVD's. She has one of the best, most uplifting personalities I have ever seen! She is educated and informative, uses proper body alignment and strives to make you look and feel your best! I really enjoyed this DVD simply because it has a lot of easy to follow cardio and some no nonsense all holds bar kickbox that "revs up the metabolism". She is clear in her direction/cueing and just has such a darn cute personality, you want to tune in each and every day to just listen to her cheering you on and to feel those endorphins kick in! A great way to start or end your day and all at your leisure. Believe me when I say, if she can't motivate you, no one can!!!! - posted by Laura on 3/6/2011
Intermediate+ cardio, but beginner strength.
So, this was my first with Denise. Her attitude is pretty good, not too hyper. Plus she is in wonderful shape herself! I liked that it showed quite a few people performing the exercises. Having said that, I am an intermediate who has fallen off the bandwagon and I was getting bored during this video. The strength training particularly, was far too easy and nothing special to me. I didn't feel like my body was worked out enough. I am not sure if an extra couple of sets might have made it seem intermediate enough. - posted by Danni on 1/19/2011
This makes me feel like a fat-burning furnace
I love this DVD because it really makes me feel like a fat-burning furnace. - posted by Mark on 1/4/2011
Denise Austin Boot Camp Review
I reviewed this video and expected it to be more of a challenge. But when I worked out with it - it was a challenge! Nice surprise! - posted by Kelly on 10/28/2010
Tough but fun
A tough workout, especially since it's only 20 minutes long. Very good instruction. - posted by Wendy on 10/12/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
