Time graph for Denise Austin's Yoga Body Burn
It begins with fast-paced Vinyasa poses and then continues with slower body-part-focused exercises (all structured to achieve specific results using classic yoga exercises). The first section really flows — lots of quick pose-to-pose transitions. It includes some more challenging postures like “crow” (squatted forward, balanced on your hands). The abs and leg segments have more controlled, “mindful” moves. These sequences use carefully chosen exercises that precisely target a specific muscle group. The final section is a quiet, relaxing stretch. Denise’s instruction is very thorough (and, as always, very enthusiastic). Pleasant set, quiet music. Segments can be played in any order. ©2007. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Music only option, Region 1.

Denise Austin's Yoga Body Burn

Loved it!!
I'm still fairly new to yoga, but know the benefits of it, so I wanted to see what this workout was all about. It is fabulous! I think Denise gives clear intstruction, the set is nice, music flows, and boy, do you work up a sweat! It's a great alternative for days when you don't want to lift weights, and because you are using your own body weight as resistance, I find it to be just as effective. Can't wait to do this again. I highly recommend this workout!! - posted by Krista on 7/15/2008
Yoga
Did not like it. I didn't think it flowed well. Was to fast paced and didn't give enough time for each strecth. - posted by Denise on 6/26/2008
My favorite yoga workout
I greatly prefer this workout to the two Shiva Rea yoga workouts I have. I think Denise's workout just flows. I can also add the abs and stretch portions when I finish a cardio workout, if I like. The dvd is very flexible (you can program it to play in any order) and well done. Denise's instruction is calming and clear. - posted by Sandra on 4/20/2008
Way to Go Denise!
I am really surprised this was given a beginner/intermediate rating. I think it is definitely at least an intermediate workout. Although I am not a huge Denise Austin fan, I loved this workout! It was quick-flowing and energizing and you definitely could feel its effects. Although I have taught yoga for years, I am often bored with the very slow-moving, mystic speaking, long-holding poses one often sees in yoga. This had all the wonderful benefits of yoga while moving right along and keeping it interesting and creative. I think Denise's instruction was actually very clear and easy to follow. Its also great that you can break it down into shorter time frames so you can add it on to another workout if you choose. I love it & will do it regularly. - posted by Shelley on 3/20/2008
Enjoyed!
I really like Denise Austin. I never dread her workouts including this dvd. I agree with everyone else about it being very quick but it feels good. I am intermediate/advanced yoga practioner. This is not for the very beginner. Overall, a nice pleasant workout. - posted by Christy on 2/24/2008
Not for beginners
A true beginner would find this workout very hard to follow because Denise often cues using the name for the pose, rather than instructing on proper form. Plus, the poses, especially in the first section, flow so quickly from one to another, that I always felt I was being rushed. I would no sooner manage to get in the right position than I would realize she'd moved on a different pose. For a beginner to power Yoga, I would recommend The Firm's Power Yoga which moves less quickly and has more precise instruction. - posted by Rosanne on 2/4/2008
Fast Forward
I really like Denise, and wanted a yoga video that would feel like a real workout. I borrowed this with the intention of buying, and gave it back so quickly that I sort of think I should have given it a second chance...then I remember what I disliked. Maybe the idea of an "athletic" non-mental yoga defeats it's purpose - it's not like the yoga classes that I took regularly for 6 months. This workout was just SO fast paced that I couldn't settle into the poses properly. Especially frustrating were poses that require balance: without a certain degree of stillness going in, all I could manage was a wobbly mess. Even the relaxing stretches were too fast for me to feel their effectiveness. I wish I liked this one, but it didn't work for me. I'm somewhat experienced in yoga, but the cueing really left me needing to turn to the screen too often to be in the proper form. - posted by Kari on 1/27/2008
Denise Austin Yoga Body Burn Review
Quickly becoming one of my favorite streching workouts for home. If you are new to Yoga, or prefer a slower-paced session then this may not be suitable. I manage to work up a nice sweat and feel completely stretched after doing this DVD. My only complaint is that the corpse pose at the end is a little on the short side. Would recommend highly. - posted by Sydney H on 1/24/2008
Way way way too fast
I agree that this video is more moderate to advanced than beginner. I also think that this video moves extremely too fast....otherwise I think it would have been a great video....the moves were challenging. I understand the whole point of moving fast is to burn more calories but you didn't even get to hold some positions for more than a second or two. - posted by Lisa on 1/21/2008
Burn,Baby,Burn
This is my first experience with yoga and I felt the burn.As an inter/advance exerciser I didn't think it would be challenging and I was wrong. I was the good sore the next day. If you are not into the mind/body connection stuff and just want a good yoga workout, this video is for you. I would highly recommend this video to anyone. - posted by Emily on 1/16/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
