Certified instructor description:
Classic hip hop dance moves and live, on-stage music by the legendary Sugarhill Gang with Grandmaster Melle Mel and Scorpio. Everyone is movin’ and groovin’ in this video, from Donna and her “homegirls” right through to the singers themselves. Like an exciting urban night club, the loud rap/hip hop music has a motivating, contagious energy. Even if you’ve never done hip hop, Donna’s expert cuing, “one combo at a time” instruction and “sure you can” attitude make this workout both do-able and fun. You’ll burn fat to 80’s and 90’s dance favorites like “Roger Rabbit,” “Running Man,” “Snake,” “Ride the Horse” and “Temptation.” ©2003.

Donna Richardson's Old School Dance Party

What Fun
I had a total blast and a fun time. - posted by Christa on 12/9/2011
Fun and effective
This is a fun workout with good old school music. There were a few moves that were a little tricky the first time through, but after doing the video 2 or 3 times I think I have a handle on the moves and it is a great workout. - posted by Julianne on 12/9/2011
A great idea for a girl's party
I love this DVD! It was great reminiscing with Donna and the Sugar Hill Gang. I was having so much fun, it doesn't feel like a traditional workout. It's still a challenge trying to dance like I did back in the day. - posted by Vickie on 11/13/2011
Very Disappointed
Have tried many products from Collage; first time trying a Donna Richardson tape and was not impressed. Great old school music but the movements were so repetitious and tended to be boring. Returning the tape for a jump rope. - posted by Robin on 8/8/2011
very irratating video
I really couldn't get into this video. Donna instructional style annoyed me. Look I know Sugar Hill Gang was very influential to the hip hop we know today. Donna kept saying their name over and over again as if I forgot since the last time she said it. Also the camera kept cutting to close up of the band. This is an exercise video not a music video the camera should stay on the exercisers. If your not familiar with the moves your going to get lost every time you loose sight of the group. - posted by sarah on 7/21/2011
Old School Dance Party
My sister and I enjoyed listening to the old school music, of course we were born in the 50's. So it was nice working out and enjoying it. Thank You (Fort Lauderdale, FL) - posted by Avis on 6/25/2011
Not My Fav But It's Okey
Not my favorite of all my dance workout dvd's. The only thing I can say is that, it doesn't have much challenge as she keeps repeating the moves which makes is a little boring..but it's okey to include on my rotation schedule workout to give me variety of moves... It still makes me sweat... - posted by Ester on 4/30/2011
Surprised by how much I dislike it
I normally love Donna's videos, and I love dance aerobics. This one did not come through for me. I am really surprised by all the positive reviews. Many of these moves are just plain boring and repetitive. There is a lot of just walking or stepping from side to side. The other moves I can't possibly do on carpet. My feet just won't slide like that. I didn't feel like I was getting a workout. I actually came to check this website in the middle of it to see if I was Beginner level. I'm sad, because I wanted it to be fun. I will definitely be returning it. - posted by Mandi on 3/31/2011
The Most Fun Workout!
This is probably one of the best workouts for the person who considers working out a necessary evil (like I do), because you get the workout but your attention is never on the workout. When I first used this dvd, the only reason I knew that I'd gotten a workout is that at when I was done, I saw that I'd broken a sweat. Donna is high energy, pleasant and encouraging, cues very well and looks like she's having fun. The only couple of drawbacks are that once or twice, the music is louder than her voice so you can't hear the cue and at the end she has a freestyle period...I use dvds because I need guidance while exercising so I don't care for the freestyle. Overall it's a great workout. - posted by Sherry on 3/31/2011
My new favorite!
I have a couple of Donna's older videos and now that I've started using videos to work out again, I am catching up with some of the classics that I've missed over the past 10 years. This definitely fits the bill of CLASSIC! It is so much fun and easy to follow. Even though I was born totally without funk, I have fun trying to do the funky moves and just do what feels right to me. I love the music and the fact that the Sugarhill Gang gets involved in the workout and seem to be having a great time too. I feel so FLY! - posted by Megan on 3/14/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
