Certified instructor description: A balanced program that gracefully blends Pilates techniques and weight-room style toning. It’s an effective format that stretches and lengthens your body as it shapes and tones each muscle. Classic gym-style exercises are “softened” with more fluid transitions and a greater range of motion. For example, instead of a standard start-then-stop lunge, you’ll lean into the lunge and then gently pull back (so the muscle stretches on the “lean in” and strengthens on the “pull back”). Upper-body moves have a similar feel (e.g. large, diagonal motions like a Pilates “pulley arms” routine). The floorwork features mostly classic Pilates core exercises. Ellen’s cuing is clear and refined. Requires 2 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2007.

Ellen Barrett's Slim Sculpt

Love it!
I just did this disc for the first time last night and I think it just became my new favorite toning disc! The workout is very well instructed and easy to follow(if I say it's easy to follow then you know it actually is because I have two left feet lol. Don't let appearances fool you, this workout is deceptive in that it's more challeanging than it appears to be. - posted by Liz on 5/10/2012
Love This!
I was looking for something that was very similar to the workout Ellen Barret used to do on All Star Workouts called Zen Sculpt. This was very similar but a bit more challenging and I love that! And everything is explained and demonstrated well. It's up tempo enough and incorporates the lower body constantly that you get your heart rate up and maintained. For an all over body workout that also strengthens while it stretches this is it! Also I loved the efficiency in which the ordering process from Collage Video. I received my videos very quickly too! - posted by Jena on 3/27/2012

Excellent workout!
Just finished the workout and I must say it's wonderful. The moves are fluid and effective. Wasn't sure I was going to like working out barefoot - love it! I'm getting ready to order more of her tapes. - posted by Nikki on 3/5/2012
Title Says it All
I just bought this to go with Skinny Sculpt and the 6 other ones I use in a rotation. All 8 of them are a little different workout but with alot of the same moves. I feel like I can pick up any EB workout and immediately do it and feel like I have worked out. This one stands out with the use of the weights. My upper body really gets a punch. - posted by Angi on 3/1/2012
Great workout
Ellen Barrett's workouts are strenuous but low impact. Great pacing - just when your arms are tired she transitions to lower body work to raise your heart rate and tone and stretch your hips, and thighs. When your heart rate is up and you are really breathing, she goes to some upper body work that allows for some recovery. The floor/core work is good with some stretching to finish. Well paced 45 min workout - I wish I had this a long time ago. - posted by Keira on 2/16/2012
Tougher than it looks!
Her "big movements" really get your heart rate going, with or without light weights. I must confess that I scoffed at the lighter weights...only to put mine down half-way through the first time I did the workout. Ellen is a friendly, professional teacher who always lets you know ahead of time when there is a change, and almost always has an alternative (if you're feeling winded, etc.). Highly recommend. - posted by Wendy on 2/13/2012

I have several of her workouts and they are all great. I love her "big moves"! She really keeps you in check with your positioning and keeps you focused on your workout. Just great. - posted by Pam on 1/26/2012
Slim Sculpt
I already have a copy of this DVD. It's one of my favorites so I bought it for a friend who just retired. It's a good cardio workout and also excellent toning at the same time. Exercising barefoot feels wonderful. I have knee issues & this tape is one I do almost every week without being achy afterwards. It's low impact but a very good total workout. Ellen has a wonderful, positive & encouraging style. All in all, it's one of my favorite workouts. - posted by Linda on 1/5/2012

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
