Time graph for Ellen Barrett's Yogini Workout
Classic yoga poses subtly intensified with Pilates and body-sculpting techniques. You get the flexibility benefits of yoga plus the firming benefits of muscle toning. Ellen begins each series with a basic yoga pose like cobra, down dog or warrior. Then she smoothly and naturally blends in the muscle toning (e.g. a warrior evolves into a lunge; a chair pose gets some pulses; a cobra becomes a plank). It’s all fast-paced and fluid with seamless transitions (and lots of relaxing between-move stretches). Ellen’s calm, thorough cuing makes it easy to follow. Quiet instrumental music. ©2008. Ellen Barrett's Yogini Workout

Truly Wonderful
I don't find this workout anything like Ellen's Crunch workouts. You get a stretch element, strength and cardio. You'll break a light sweat. And, you'll feel great when you're done. This is truly a great workout! - posted by Elaine on 5/6/2008
ELLEN'S GOT A WINNER HERE!!!
This one is, like the other poster mentioned, VERY DECEIVING from the clip! I was expecting a nice, relaxed, easy workout on my rest day, like Ellen's Crunch Fat Burning Pilates. WRONG! Very tough stuff!! My heartrate was elevated throughout and my arms are toast. Who says you can't combine cardio, strength & yoga all in one flowing workout?! This was GREAT! I don't have any of her other Studio workouts, but now I'm thinking I need to check them out! This one definitely rocks with the plank work and chattarungas---just as tough as any of my Rodney's I own!! I'm finding my fondness for Ellen once again, after being absent for awhile. She's great!! - posted by MRS on 5/4/2008
Deceptively Challenging!
First, because Ellen is so calm and the movements are so fluid, you don't realize how hard you are working. Second, because of the routine's seamless transitions, I stay to the end every time, performing the entire 45minute program - a miracle for me, since I have been prone to ditch my video workouts midway through! And lastly, Yogini Workout works the whole body and it's got plenty of cardio. Most yoga-type workouts don't have the cardio element, but this one does. I give it five stars. - posted by Sally on 4/28/2008
Another Ellen Barrett Repeat
I find that Ellen's videos are extremely repetitive. I work out a lot and use a combination of cycling, video workouts and classes, I am in pretty good shape! This video reminds me of part of a "set" of videos done by Crunch a while back, and sold on a TV special. I find Ellen's focus on squats and knee bends hurts my knees. I would recommend you try a Real Yoga DVD (Rodney Yee) or a Real Pilates DVD (Rael System). Ellen seems to be repackaging these ideas, without a close eye on safety or effectiveness. I would be careful doing so many repetitive knee movements. - posted by Jessica on 4/27/2008
Truly What I Needed
Wow. Whoever says you have to jump up and down to get a good cardio workout should be made to do this program every day for the rest of his/her life! I have worked out at home since 1983 (thanks for getting me started Jane Fonda!) and I have not yet had a workout that I enjoyed this much on so many levels the first time I used it! Ellen is calm, motivating, NORMAL and in some seriously awesome condition. Her cuing is right on and each move flows together nearly seamlessly, so you don't have to stop to reposition or look at the TV to get your bearings. My muscles were sore after my first workout (which says a lot at my fitness level) and my shirt was soaked through which hasn't happened since my first time through Mena Lessig's Fat Burning Workout years ago! A real KEEPER! - posted by Jenni on 4/24/2008
Awesome
I guess I am being a bit repetitive, but, this workout is awesome. You will literally feel wrung out after this. I am an intermediate exerciser, 30, and I don't like the tapes that make you feel exhausted after. Your core will feel immediately stronger, shoulders will relax without even trying!! (my biggest problem) The only thing I didn't like - maybe it's just because it's the first time I did the tape- was the pressure my wrists took. But I bet one could modify to my forearms. It's nice to have a workout where you don't need equipment, never mind shoes, and still feel like you worked out. Also, break a sweat. - posted by Christine on 4/12/2008
Sweating!
I love all of the Studio DVDs, but I think this is the toughest all around workout. You get a complete workout here--your heart rate is brought up, you are stretched and toned, and challenged. There is a lot of plank work in this workout, but those can be modified if they are a problem. I love Ellen's enthusiasm and constant encouragment. - posted by Anita on 4/11/2008
I am AMAZED
I too have all 3 of the studio workouts and this is by far my favorite. The other two will be excellent to rotate with this one; as others have noted in reviews of Fat Burning Fusion and Slim Sculpt, FBF has a lower body emphasis, while SS does have more of an upper body focus. This one works everything. I feel totally worked out, but very relaxed. Just wonderful! - posted by Debbie on 3/28/2008
The Studio workouts are amazing!
I have been an Ellen Barrett fan for about 5 years, and have all 3 of The Studio workouts Ellen's low-impact mind-body fusion approach to fitness is much-needed in our fast-paced society. Ellen also proves that low-impact is as effective and challnging as faster paced workouts. I am a daily exerciser with a ballet/pilates/yoga background, and am continually striving to incorporate all of these areas into my workouts. Ellen successfully combines all 3-plus more- into her trinity approach to exercise-stretch, strength, cardio. I look forward to The Studio workouts at the end of a busy day to unwind and get a good workout at the same time. Yogini is definitely the most challenging of all 3 workouts; however they are all equally enjoyable and fulfilling. Good job Ellen-thanks for bringing The Studio workouts into our homes! - posted by Lisa on 3/27/2008
Highly recommended
I just started to get interested in Fusion Fitness Workouts and I absolutely love this workout! I feel energized and empowered after doing this. I used to think that you had to really work hard and jump around to get a good workout. Not so with this, yes you are working hard and sweating but you feel good, not tired. I am seeing a positive difference in the way I look and feel. - posted by Lysa on 3/26/2008
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
