Certified instructor description: Elmo shows your 2 to 5-year-old child that exercise is fun. Everyone is off to Elmo’s Exercise Camp, a fun-filled place where your kids and the Sesame Street muppets will bend, stretch, twist and hop their way to feeling good. Perfect for young children’s attention span, the segments are short and not too “structured.” Elmo and Monty do provide workout guidelines, but the emphasis is on enjoying the movement and learning how to be strong and healthy. Lots of great new sing-along tunes (including a guest appearance by Cyndi Lauper). Comes with a 10-page booklet of simple parent-child exercise activities. ©1996. DVD has: Chapter menus, Narrow screen.

Elmocize

Highly recommended as an intro to a healthy lifestyle
I'm a 25 year old mother of a 23 month old girl. My daughter has watched this video every morning since i bought it for her 6 months ago... she is a very active child but i still want her to get used to exercising on a regular basis... she knows all the exercises by heart now and loves dancing and moving along with the other children... i also use this video for mommy/daughter time... i move and exercise along with the video in order to be a positive influence on my child... children imitate what we do... do it with them... also, it's a great exercise for her and for me.... i really feel the burn... A+ - posted by Melissa Fajardo on 5/8/2008
Not worth it
I thought this video was very boring. It did not make my daughter want to do anything but just watch it. I expected more action and not so much talk. - posted by Angie on 11/12/2007
not that great
It's basically just like any Sesame Street or Elmo episode. My kids didn't seem to really think they needed to get up and exercise like a traditional exercise video. They watched it like they would any Sesame Street. It has good information and some kids might get up and try some of the exercises but it's not really structured or instructional. The one part I really don't like is the segment with Cyndi Lauper dressed very innapropriately...too much cleavage! - posted by Amber on 7/27/2007

Great!
I bought this for my 3 1/2 year-old daughter, and she really enjoyed it. It's not too structured, which is great for her age. She danced around and did alot of the moves and it even tired her out a little bit! I would definitely recommmend it for the 2 1/2-4 year age group, but it may be a little young for 5 year olds (unless they still enjoy Sesame Street). - posted by Jill on 10/20/2002
Elmocize Fabulous
My two year old loves this video and she and my husband and I have danced to it and we all enjoy it. She loves Elmo and the Mcee, whom she calls "Mr. Body." Highly recommended. - posted by Lea Haravon Collins on 10/12/2002
Not Impressed
My daughter is 5 and has was totally bored by this video...in fact she asked me to shut it off. This might be ok for very young children but not above the age of three years. - posted by Nicole on 9/2/2001

Elmocize is perfect for very young children. It is an unstructured format showing different clips and songs from Sesame Street. We watched this video so often it wore out! - posted by Molly LaLone on 3/14/2000
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Narrow screen
X
When played on a widescreen TV, this program will show black bars on the left and right sides. On an older 4x3 ratio TV, it will fill the entire screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Specialty: Kids
X
Workouts especially designed to get your children moving. They range from true "workouts" to playful games and just-plain-fun activities.
