Certified instructor description: A solid total-body-toner, co-taught by the founders of New York’s famous Exhale Spa (Elisabeth Halfpapp and Fred DeVito). This workout blends traditional muscle toning with ballet, Pilates and isometric exercises. You get five 10-minute segments; each works a different body part with different exercises. But it’s the overall “feel” that makes these Exhale programs unique — calm, low-key instruction combined with an intimate, spa-like setting (plus a personal-trainer-style focus on breath and alignment). You get lots of between-move stretches and plus some unique “stillness” exercises (e.g. just holding your legs up during a core routine — it’s tough!). Includes level options. Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option.

Exhale: Core Fusion Body Sculpt

Kicked my butt!
I am getting older and finding out that my body doesn't recover as quickly as it did when I was doing serious weight training. I started going more into yoga and tried this body sculpt DVD and it seriously woke up muscles that I did not know that I had. The ab workout is amazing along with the arms and legs. I really enjoy this workout because you definitely feel it afterward. - posted by Tracy on 5/26/2011
Best of the Best
I did this for the first time today, and the time just flew. I rarely do an entire video all at once, but I just kept doing this one section by section. I like the set, the voice over, and I find the instructors to be very appealing. Plus--the exercises are great--i.e. for me they were tough to get all the way through. I highly recommend this workout. - posted by Carol on 2/9/2011
much harder than I thought
being a diehart Cathe/Amy fan, I didn't think I would like or get results with this video. Boy was I wrong!!! You really feel it and the ab segment.....all I could say is OUCHHHHH!!! The only downside to this is the voice overs which I personally hate. I also felt the instructors were cold and acted to forced. It is also very boring for me, but I'm keeping it because it's such a great workout. - posted by quincy on 10/14/2010
Wish they had more modifications
The workout is tough and you will definitely get a good workout. However, I wish they had some more modifications for some of the moves. The ab portion really strains my neck and causes a lot of pain. However, this is my favorite DVD of the series and I have them all... - posted by Dee on 9/3/2010
Great workout
I really liked the new way of working out. At first you find out about muscles you hadn't been working in more traditional workouts. Then their stretching really helps with the soreness. - posted by Dorothy on 7/22/2010
Proven results!! 5++++
My husband and myself both do this video - and both agree that this is one of the best videos there is!! You can increase or decrease intensity very easily on any segment - clearly get what you put into it. Instruction is exceptional - and form is easy to learn. I have osteoarthritis of the knees and still got results (which I didn't expect). My husband loves his increased flexibility which has helped his sports. If someone doesn't see results with this one, they are not doing it right! Exceptional!! (and I have tons of exercise videos)!! - posted by Nancy on 11/29/2009
It grew on me a LITTLE
The first time I tried this workout I HATED it. I tried doing it straight through and IMO the arm section is terrible. The cuing is not good in that section, and there is wasted time throughout the whole DVD. The set is dark and it's pretty boring as well. BUT the thigh and glute sections are good. My legs were shaking like crazy and I felt it after, in a good way. I was going to sell this but decided to give it another chance. I don't particularly care for the abs either and didn't do the stretch (my baby said I'd been exercising long enough!) I will definitely put the legs/glutes in my regular rotation. Even if you hate this the first time you try it, do it again- you might change your mind. - posted by Melissa on 10/12/2009
Too slow for me
This wasn't the right one for me. Two things bothered me: The trainers never talk to the camera. The audio is all voice-over, so it's like they're in they're world and I'm in mine. Sometimes they're not even doing what the voice says to do. Like another reviewer, I also felt this one was too slow and contemplative. There are very few movements in this video and sometimes you just hold the same one for a long time. It isn't easy and I didn't think it was a lot of fun either. - posted by Shawn on 8/24/2009
Excellent workout!
I absolutely love this workout. Just as excellent as the pilates plus and I'm feeling the results straight away. The dvd is challenging and you end up with a good soreness. My thighs feel firmer and I am standing and sitting taller. I love the stretches at the ending on both dvds, the setting, the clear cueing from both instructors. Highly recommendable and it is work wonders on my neck and shoulder area from doing high impacted workouts; which I've had problems with for years. I have ordered the bun and thigh workout, try to get all three if you can it is worth the money for a lean, relaxed and strong body. - posted by Cee Doyley on 8/14/2009
Exceptionally well designed program!
If you want a more stream-lined appearance with a tight core and firm everything, this is your workout! Switch it out with Exhale Core Fusion Pilates Plus, Bar Method Accelerated workout and Tracy Effinger's Squeezes and you will have a well rounded exercise program. With this DVD you get excellent and thorough instruction and innovative routines that will keep your exercise regime fresh and invigorating. Love the set and the instructors--makes you want to take a class! Excellent, well designed program! Disagree that it moves too slow. If your working as they instruct you, you will appreciate the breathers! - posted by Amy on 4/20/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
