Certified instructor description: A solid total-body-toner, co-taught by the founders of New York’s famous Exhale Spa (Elisabeth Halfpapp and Fred DeVito). This program features a fusion of Pilates, yoga and athletic-style stretches (with a strong emphasis on body control and mindful movement). You get five 10-minute segments; each works a different body part with different exercises. But it’s the overall “feel” that makes these Exhale programs unique — calm, low-key instruction combined with an intimate, spa-like setting (plus a personal-trainer-style focus on breath and alignment). It has lots of between-move stretches and some unique “stillness” exercises (e.g. just holding your legs up during a core routine is tough). Includes level options. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option, Narrow screen.

great workout
I love everything that they do, and this is no exception. There is always great instruction on form. - posted by susan on 9/16/2010
Pain in the neck - literally!
A tough workout that totally strains my neck. No kidding, I had to call my chiropractor after this one. Also, the abs positions are extremely difficult to do if you are short-waisted like me! - posted by Dee on 9/3/2010
Not for bad backs
If you have a bad back I would suggest avoiding this video. I am in pretty good shape, and can handle a lot of Pilates programs. But this one I find very painful. - posted by Angie on 3/23/2010
WOW!
All I can say is WOW! I just bought this today as apart of a 3 DVD Set and I am so glad that I finally did. I have long debated whether or not to bc of the clip. The clips IMO, do not do this DVD justice. This is the same principle as the 10 Min Solution Series, with 5-10 minute segments. Each segment as some element of Core focus along with other muscle group focus. The first 4 segments include an approx 1 min warm up of knee raises before the pilates workout begins. The toughest segment is the Wall Segment which you balance on the wall while sitting trying to both keep your core tight and balanced while doing small range movements with the legs. I am fairly new to pilates and this one is different from the other Pilates DVDs I have tried from Mari Winsor and Gaiam. The Cueing is voiced over and it does slightly lack as they don't give a count do or advanced warning of position movement; can be difficult when you are not facing the TV. A few times of doing this though and it won't be an issue. Both Instructors take turns cueing different segments and showing a modified version. There are some positions were beginners like me may need to modify further to work up to the more challenging poses. I felt my entire core engaged during the first 4 segments. The last is perfect, it's more like yoga and is very relaxing. You get a nice stretch to all of the muscles as each muscle group in the body has it's own focus throughout the DVD. The background was warm and relaxing, cueing and music is gentle and inviting. Great purchase and I look forward to doing the other workouts! - posted by Julia on 2/15/2010
Terrible!
This is the 2nd. Core Fusion DVD I tried from my library. I was not impressed with the first one, and now, I've learned that the whole series is the same and so booring! I hardly broke a sweat at all, and like the previous reviewer says, the cueing is terrible. Sometimes when I read reviews, I like to have an idea of who is writing it, so here's a bit about me...I'm 5'3", 120lbs and I workout everyday (advanced). I typically like anything by The Firm, 10 Minute Solutions and the Crunch Series. The Core Fusion is so unmotivating and I felt like I was listening to a teacher in school rather than an inspiring coach. - posted by Julia on 9/18/2009
Not a keeper
This is a testament to why you should only order from collage. I bought this DVD (after reading the great reviews) in a bookstore and I DON'T LIKE IT. The set is dark. The cueing is terrible. You would have to be staring at your TV every second and during some of the moves that isn't possible. So while you are doing one thing they are doing something else. The exercises themselves aren't original. Not that they are ineffective, but personally I didn't "feel the burn" during ANY of it. Other videos of this type are way better. Element's Ballet Conditioning has similar exercises that are challenging, and fun. Get that, don't get this. It doesn't have an arm section per se (other than holding your arms up for 40 minutes which is tiring believe me)but the arm section in this DVD is the worst out of all the sections. I can't even return this because I bought at a store. Darn it! - posted by Melissa P on 9/15/2009
SUPERB!
I love this workout! I have been a taebo follower for many years and unfortunately due to neck problems I made the decision to stop doing taebo (giving me discomfort in my neck) and to begin doing pilates. I came across this dvd and the body sculpt workout and decided to order. I made the right decision all five workouts are superb and you can really feel every inch of your muscles working. I like the fact that there are modifications to some of the challenging exercises. I love the music, the setting and the clam and well cued instructors voices. I will be continuing this and the body sculpt workout alongside doing Mari Winsor (Pink Workout and Reformer workout). Core Exhale made me notice how strong my body could become. I absolutely love it. The thigh and bun workout is challenging especially on the body sculpt dvd OUCHHH!!!. I will definitely be purchasing the new thigh and bun workout asap. - posted by Cee Doyley on 8/13/2009
May just take you to the next level!
I've been doing both Exhale core fusion workouts: Pilates Plus and Body Sculpt for two months now, and I must say, "These workouts produce results!" I've noticed a tremendous increase in core strength and overall stamina. The instruction is incredibly thorough and helpful and the exercises are the ticket for a long, lean, stream-lined appearance. The Flat back section is tough, but invaluable for training the core! Couldn't recommend these programs enough! I only do Barre type workouts since discovering Fluidity and Bar Method two years ago. While they are exceptional workouts as well--Tracy Effinger's "Squeezes" included, Core Fusion took me to the next level in strength and stamina. - posted by Amy on 4/20/2009
Nice, Effective Workout
This one will definitely go in my favorite pile. It's beautifully done, and it works. I was really sore the day after trying it. I waited a day and tried it again and was sore again ... which means it's working and a keeper for me! - posted by Barb on 12/30/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
