Time graph for Gabrielle Reece's Complete Pregnancy
A truly challenging program that features a different exercise series for each month of your pregnancy (plus another 3 months of post-pregnancy routines). Not for beginners, this is an intense workout designed for already-in-shape women. Each 15-minute segment features month-specific activities (e.g. Month One is no-nonsense total-body toning while Month Nine has gentler birthing-oriented moves). Gabrielle, a professional volleyball player, does the exercises while her personal trainer encourages proper technique (so a few routines show a workout partner, but solo options are also described). DVD has four warm-ups and cooldowns plus the twelve individual month segments. Requires a stability ball, dumbbells and rubber tubing. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions.

Gabrielle Reece's Complete Pregnancy

Great exercise video during pregnancy
I disagree with a lot of the previous comments. Do not think this video is too hard for an intermediate exerciser, and you are encouraged to "take it slow" and stick with what is comfortable for you. I will admit the transitions are quick, especially because there is equipment involved, but all you have to do is pause the DVD and get yourself set up. No big deal. I like the variety of having different exercised every month and seeing Gabrielle getting bigger right along with me in her own pregnancy. Recommended as a nice workout to stay toned and continue strength training during your pregnancy (BTW, am almost in my 8th month as I write this, so I feel valid in reviewing it). - posted by Hope on 8/4/2010
Only so-so
This did not provide the challenge I was expecting. I am 6 months pregnant and excepting some time in my first trimester when I was just ILL, I have remained active throughout. The advanced rating does not seem accurate to me. Each workout is only 15 minutes and did not leave me feeling worked out at all. I suppose knowing the length ahead of time could have clued me in to this but the reviews and the advanced rating compelled me to expect otherwise. Many different exercises with maybe 10-15 reps performed. Gabrielle and her trainer talk a lot and leave me feeling bored. I have never come close to breaking a sweat using one of these segments. Another complaint I have is I don't have anything sturdy enough to anchor my band to; even my desk and coffee table moved when I was trying to do so. They move quickly from exercise to exercise without allowing really any time for the viewer to get situated. Even knowing what to expect with repeated use did not help out with this. It just isn't that user friendly. There are a lot of props used, although I would assume an advanced home exerciser would have these items available as I do. It annoyed me more that the exercises are organized (or not) in a completely random fashion that has you standing, then on the ball, then standing, then on the floor and so on. All in 15 minutes. Have only previewed the postnatal workouts but I am still holding out some hope that I will have a use for 15 minute workouts with both a brand new baby and a 2 year old at home. These seemed less chaotic. Otherwise I would already have given this away. I am unimpressed. - posted by Melissa on 8/4/2010
Disappointed!!!!! - you need someone there to help with the workout
The workout itself is great, but there are many props needed (mat, towel, chair, multiple weights, heavy chair, balance ball, elastic bands, oh and a trainer or another person to help with the elastic band portion of the workouts). Further, there isn't enough transition time between props to set up, so again you almost need someone there to help you just like Gabrielle's trainer helps her. In other words, it was very frustrating to do without the help of someone. Would NOT recommend. - posted by Natalie on 7/8/2010
Best pregnancy video I have found yet
If you are not a woman who consistently worked (or works) out at an intermediate/high level do not think that at pregnancy you will be able to do a video labeled advanced. Most pregnancy videos I have found are mind numbingly boring and slow and I don't see how they would help maintain a healthy weight, but I personally prefer a more challenging workout. This video did/does make me feel like I'm exercising. I do have a few complaints however. 1. Her trainer preps and hands her the weights, ball, etc. which is nice but we need to pause to get prepared to do the exercise. 2. It feels a little rushed and uneven at times. For example, the warmup. A few head rolls and shoulder rolls doesn't feel like enough and there is no counting reps so not sure if each side is being worked out equally. Because of this I make sure to count out reps so I know each side is being worked out equally. Lastly, I know I'm pregnant but 3 lb dumbbells isn't going to do much for anyone unless they have never been active their whole life. I usually use heavier weights and actually add different weight bearing exercises, mainly upper body ones, so that I feel like I'm exercising. Overall, as a pregnancy video it is the most challenging I have yet to find. The absolute BEST thing about this video is that there are sections for each trimester. - posted by Geo on 5/24/2010
Loving It Until Today
When I found out I was pregnant, I immediately purchased this video-I would consider myself an advanced exerciser and was excited after reading some of the reviews that said it was a good burn. My only complaint came this morning when I popped it in all ready to do my seventh month. As I get slower I found it really hard to keep up with all the equipment changes and when you have to go "find a wall" again it could be me I am slowing down a bit but I felt that this workout was a bit too fast so I didn't get as much out of it, by the time I was set up the trainer was saying "okay one more rep" overall though I have loved this DVD-let's hope months 8 and 9 are better. - posted by Jen on 5/22/2010
good video
Good, hard toning workouts. It does get you sweating in a short amount of time. Not for a beginner. I think the workouts would even be good for non-pregnant ladies. I just wish they had made the workouts a little longer in length (just a few minutes longer) so that there was more transition time between the different moves to get equipment ready. Also the commentary is hard to hear at times and I wish there was more explanation of why the moves are modified the way they are. Lastly, sometimes it gets annoying how the trainer holds equipment (there is a lot of different equipment used: chairs, balls, dumb bells, bands) for Gabrielle in the video. I work out alone so I have to make up my own modifications for those moves. - posted by M on 5/14/2010
Way Too Hard, Even For Advanced
I bought this workout, all excited to have something a little more intense than my other pregnancy workouts, and found myself wondering if I'd hurt myself. The first trimester workouts are way too intense for someone with increased blood volume, and the second trimester workouts challenge your balance, not in a good way. I traded this one away. - posted by Hippie on 5/14/2010
Happy with purchase
Great workout to keep me motivated during my pregnancy. Would definitely recommend to someone who is pregnant but wants to stay in shape. - posted by Shamim on 5/1/2010
Amazing video!
I have been a fitness instructor for 13 years and I am currently 3 months pregnant. I loved this video because of the emphasis put on using the proper technique (which is not always the case in fitness videos). Yes, some exercises are advanced but the level IS advanced so you know what to expect. I used these exercises in some of my classes because they are not only for pregnant women. This is one of the best videos I have bought in years! - posted by Olivia on 3/25/2010
Where Was This Video During My First Pregnancy?
This video is the best pregnancy video I've come across. It's short and sweet and makes you feel you are accomplishing something while being pregnant instead of throwing in the towel and sitting on the couch for nine months. The workout focuses on balance and multiple muscle exercises that keep you strong (even with light weights) and moving throughout pregnancy. The best part is that each month has a new workout, so it helps to beat the boredom. I have and will keep recommending this video to anyone expecting. A definite winner! - posted by Melissa on 1/10/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
