Gilad in Jerusalem

so much fun
I love this workout. It's just so fun and entertaining. I just love Gilad. I think he's the only instructor I can face every day and not get tired of or bored of (or feel like throwing something at the TV.) The camel and the dancing as well as the scenery keep you interested and the workout goes quickly. I do this workout on days when I don't feel excited about working out because it always makes me feel better. - posted by KK on 4/16/2012
Fun but Easy
This is a fun video, but it's definitely for your "easy workout" days. Gilad is always likeable and the whole travelogue aspect (with goofy shots of dancing girls and camels) will leave you smiling, if not sweating particularly hard. I always like to have some easy videos for days when I'm not feeling primo, and this fills the bill. - posted by Toni on 2/2/2012
Once Again...
Once again I purchased a DVD by Gilad thinking that I may be disappointed and once again I was so WRONG! This workout is great, well cued, fun and different! A really good cardio workout and the abs are great. A keeper FOR SURE....thanks, Gilad! You're one of my favorites. - posted by E on 2/16/2011
a new favorite!
If you like Gilad's straight-forward videos, this one's for you. I enjoyed the glimpses of the old city, the live band, dancer, and especially the camel--but after all, I buy a video for the workout, and this one is easy to follow and effective. Gilad's enthusiasm, and his obvious delight at revisiting Jerusalem, make this a fun, fast-moving hour. - posted by mira on 1/27/2011
Gilad in Jerusalem
I am really enjoying this video. My first Gilad video was "Best of Bodies in Motion on the Beach" and it was my all time favorite...but Gilad in Jerusalem is a great video that works all body parts, gives 30+ mins of aerobics plus the floorwork all women need (abs and thighs!). Totally recommend for anyone who wants total body workout! - posted by Lori on 1/27/2011
Still fun
I haven't completed this workout for at least 10 years so I wanted to review this again. No, this workout is not for Intermediate/Advanced. Beginner or low intermediate would be more apropos. I use Intermediate/Advanced videos, but I still love this workout. If you want a fun workout with great music and a lovable instructor, this is the one. - posted by Anita on 1/6/2011
One of my favorites
I've had this video for over 10 years, and I still love it! The camel always makes me smile! I have a huge collection of exercise videos, and very few of them motivate and give quick results like my Gilad in Jerusalem. The aerobics really make me sweat, and I like doing the floorwork segment with 1 lb. ankle weights. All Gilad videos I own are awesome. I find this one the most entertaining. You can never go wrong with Gilad! - posted by Becky on 9/5/2010
Lots of fun
This workout is very entertaining and fun. - posted by elaine on 6/10/2010
One of his best!
I love Gilads no nonsense workouts and this one is my absolute favorite! He is obviously having a great time, his routine in the aerobic session isn't quite as regimented as his other workouts and you can tell he loves being in his homeland. The live eastern music has a captivating beat and adds to the ambiance. The little imposements of the camel, Desert Man, Coffee Man and as always his mom Ora make the whole scene complete. Everyone is having fun, it's sweaty, no complicated steps, just his usual good mix, but the time goes by so quickly you think you've just started and it's over. I have so much fun doing it. It deserves about 10 stars in my opinion. - posted by Marty on 12/30/2009
Love the music
The music is the best part. It is exotic, fast-paced, and exciting. I also like Gilad's basic, non-dancy choreography. It gets your heartrate up and keeps it up. I do wish the workout had better camera angles and wish that the cardio was longer than 24 minutes. But overall it's very good. - posted by Marianne on 9/13/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
