Time graph for Gilad's 45-45 Split Routine Workout
Two workouts: cardio and toning - they’re no-gimmicks, easy-to-follow programs filmed on a Hawaiian beach. "Fat Burning" combines basic athletic moves with high-energy aerobics. Starting easier and becoming more intense, you get a little of everything: marches, lunges, jacks, kicks, knee lifts and even a few simple dance steps. "The Toning Workout" is equally straight-forward, It features a medley of non-dumbbell standing and floor body-sculpting routines - from squats and lunges to ab crunches and push-ups. Both programs feature non-stop movement and lots of focus on correct form. ©1990. Not available in stores. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Gilad's 45-45 Split Routine Workout

Great Work out
This is a really great work out.... the toning part is a tad tough & seems like it goes on forever but its worth it.... - posted by Lanie on 3/30/2008
BORING
This is good workout, but very boring. It seems to last forever. - posted by Anna on 3/25/2008
cardio workout
I have been doing this workout since 1991. I have literally worn out my VHS tape and am ordering the DVD. I've done lots of different workouts over the years, but I always come back to this one! I love the cardio! And yes, some parts are cheesy-my family has memorized those parts and tease me when I'm doing the workout! Just makes it all the more fun! Love it! - posted by marcie on 3/1/2008
Boring
This workout is just plain boring. - posted by marsha on 2/11/2008
Easy to follow
I bought this for my husband and I'm the one that uses it. It's easy to do low impact or change and do higher impact. I always laugh when I see certain parts and the muscle toning segment will let you know your muscles are being worked. - posted by Margo on 7/28/2007

good, motivating change of pace
I tend to do a lot of step. The aerobic segment on this workout gives me a good, hard workout without requiring a lot of floor space--always a plus for the home exerciser without a home gymnasium. The strength training requires no additional equipment. The high number of reps really makes me feel the burn. - posted by mirajotom on 1/31/2007
Great Cardio
The Collage preview does not do the Fat Burning workout justice. The preview makes the workout look cheesy and boring - its not! I consider myself a low advanced exerciser (I also do Cathe) and this workout still gets me sweaty every time. This video is a great alternative to step. - posted by Jen on 3/12/2006
Okay cardio, great toning
I'm not a huge fan of high intensity cardio. Gilad's moves can be hard on the joints and knees, but they can be modified to soften the impact. The moves are a bit repetitive but guaranteed to get you sweating. The toning segment is great, if you don't feel these moves you are definitly doing something wrong. I'm a huge fan of Gilad and although it's a tad bit dated (nice leotards) you are sure to see results after the first few workouts. - posted by m on 3/1/2006
Gilad is great!
I used to do his tapes on VHS 10 years ago! They were a little cheesy---the workouts on the Hawaiian beach--but they were fun and they kept me in great shape. His facial expressions and comments are really funny sometimes. He's also very motivating. I'm thinking about buying the DVD! - posted by JP on 9/1/2005
Love Gilad
I am so excited to see this workout on DVD! I already have the aerobic routine on VHS and I absolutely love it! I have been doing it for years and I still get results. This is one I would highly recommend! - posted by Kristy on 6/20/2005
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
