Time graph for Ilaria's Abs & Pushups Plus
A short-but-intense workout that delivers exactly what the title promises — alternating segments of abwork and pushups. It’s a fabulous way to target your shoulders, arms and abdominals. The pushup segments are the most challenging and unique. With three sets of 10 pushups in each set, the variations include “cobra pushups,” “reverse cobra pushups” and “spider pushups”. The slightly easier ab sections are more traditional (e.g. crunches, oblique twists, reverse curls). Excellent transitions and superb form. Modifications are shown for most exercises (e.g. pushups on your knees). ©2008.

Ilaria's Abs & Pushups Plus

Back to basics
Every fitness video these days seems to try to be innovative. Here comes a video from Ilaria that seems refreshing for sticking with the familiar. Ilaria sticks with staples - various ways of doing pushups and standard crunch-style ab-work. I surprised myself by liking it so much. She keeps the sets short and keeps the workout moving with hardly any downtime. I was worried it would be too tough. It is challenging and definitely advanced, but doable. It is a no fuss workout. Pull out a mat, pop in the dvd, get down to the floor and crank out the reps. Before you realize it, you are done. Glad to have bought this workout. - posted by Vee on 12/18/2009
Sneaky Hard!
This is a very good workout that incrementally gets hard. In the beginning the exercises seem familiar enough but when put together they really ADD UP! I just did it for the first time today and I'm hooked!!! - posted by Nyd on 11/5/2009
This is great!
I love this DVD! I do it once a week, usually weekends after a good cardio workout. Very challenging, but the instructor is wonderful. - posted by Eileen on 10/14/2009
Not what I expected
I consider myself an advanced exerciser. After reading the other ratings, I purchased this video and expected this would be a challenging abdominal routine. I was disappointed. The upper body is challenging, but again, not what I expected. - posted by Sandy on 10/11/2009
The Real Perfect Pushup
Perhaps you've seen those Perfect Pushup infomercials. Well, if you want to see a real "perfect pushup," just do this workout. Ilaria demonstrates excellent form, challenging you with several tough pushup variations. I have done many Navy/Marine style workout, and consider myself to be an advanced exerciser. Nevertheless, this workout was a good challenge, with no nonsense involved. You get 30 minutes of pure exercise; no boring chatter or lengthy rest periods here. The ab segments are good, too. If nothing else, they give you time to recover from the pushups, which can be fairly strenuous if done properly with perfect form. Something Ilaria definitely has! - posted by Sean on 9/5/2009
Great workout and no equipment is required!!
I would consider myself an intermediate/advanced excerciser. This DVD was a great challenge. I can continue to go back to it to improve. I did the workout this morning and this evening I can already feel the soreness creeping in (and I consider that a good thing - muscles are being built!). I think my favorite thing about this video is that it requires no equipment (except a towel or mat), so it will be great for traveling. Push-up and ab sets alternate during this 30 min. workout. Not much of a cool-down or stretch is offered at the end, but I didn't mind. I usually like to do my own stretches anyway. I highly recommend it. Even my husband joined me for the video and thought it was a good workout. - posted by Jessica on 9/1/2009
Pushup Intimidated
I've always had the love/hate relationship with pushups. I am an advanced exerciser so these are intense but what we need to really build upper body strength. This workout gives so many variations of pushups plus is a great addition to any DVD library. The ab section is very motivating and advanced and is different than the average routine. I highly recommend this DVD. - posted by Denise on 8/22/2009
Boy Oh Boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was I in for a surprise? I ordered this DVD 2 days ago & I got it tody... sooner than I expected. So I previewed the first 5 minutes & thought oh, I can do this. Wow, what an intense workout in such a short time. Ilaria is a no-nonsense trainer & it feels like I have a personal trainer right there in my living room. I will stick with it & see how far I can go...I hope it pays off because my abs definitely get to work (hard). I highly recommend this DVD to anybody who wants a workout that targets the midsection! - posted by Teeteesma on 7/12/2009
Great and Different Workout!
I felt my core engage right from the get-go. Alternating between various types of push ups and more traditional ab work is a winner. Ilaria is great, and this workout has great variety and a perfect pace. I'm beginning to see Ilaria's brilliance. She really has a knack for designing a workout that is challenging and motivating -- just when you think you're about tapped out she changes it up and you're reading to keep going. I have a love/hate relationship with push ups, but Ilaria makes it a little more about the love. :) What a great way to spend 30 minutes. I am so glad I bought this workout. - posted by Marla on 6/30/2009
Something a little different- buy it!!
I am really glad I purchased this. I am focusing on building upper arm strength as a new goal and I think this will really help, accompanied with free weight work on other days. It was short, intense, but entirely motivating. I paired it with her Powerstrikes leg workout, my legs are very strong and I am feeling everything today. She's very likeable too. Thumbs up! - posted by Erica on 5/13/2009

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
