Time graph for Ilaria's BodyStrikes
A straight-forward program totally focused on lower-body toning. You’ll quickly reshape your legs and buttocks without using any equipment (your own body weight provides all the resistance). It’s a smoothly “choreographed” sequence of exercises that works your legs in every direction and in every plane. Each section gets progressively more challenging (e.g. slow squats become fast squats that gradually evolve into even faster left/right squats). The moves include front lunges, reverse lunges, leg lifts, roundhouse kicks and even diagonal “corner snaps.” Ilaria Montagnani, a quietly-intense instructor, constantly emphasizes form and technique. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Ilaria's BodyStrikes

Excellent! Tough workout, without dancey choreography
Great cues and form, and because of that, was great for my core without any crunches or being a direct 'core workout.' Excellent strength-builder for legs, knees, hips, glutes, & core without being tough on the knees. Faster paced than I expected, but I love that it is not dancey with lots of complicated choreography. You might have to turn the volume up a tad and the accent is a little tough to understand in some places, but no big deal after you do the video a few times. Just a great, solid, tough workout. Excellent pick, this one's a keeper! - posted by Ruby on 10/22/2009
Not What I Expected
I found this routine to be very different from a traditional kickboxing workout. It's all legwork; punches and jabs are not really part of the equation. However, I did enjoy adding something a little different to my rotation. It is very repetitive though, so if you like a lot of variety you may be disappointed. Also, the sound quality on this dvd is a bit off. I had to turn it up for that reason, as well as Ilaria's accent can be a little hard to understand at times. - posted by Suzanne on 10/18/2009
The Best!!!!!!
Ilaria truly is the best out there! Her Powerstrike 5 is awesome as well. Her cueing is spot on, her reminders about perfect form are second to none, and she does not move at a frenetic pace like some of the other kickboxing workouts. She goes at just the right pace where you get the most out of each punch, and kick, and can get full range of motion which you cannot do in the frenetic kickboxing workouts. You work your entire body, and I promise you will feel it the next day for sure. Keep 'em coming Ilaria! I am a huge fan, and you will be too. Get this one!!!! - posted by Jill Sherry on 10/5/2009
Great kick-boxing workout!
I love this workout! I just came back into working out after a long absence and I wanted something different to get me going. I enjoyed other kick-boxing dvd's, so I thought I would try this. It is great! I love the instructor, very calm yet personable. The workout is tough but not too tough. I enjoyed it and put it in my weekly rotation. - posted by Eileen on 9/30/2009
Superb workout
Ilaria is a true professional at what she does, when I look for a kickboxing dvd I want someone that lives and breathes it. Not someone that got a certification to teach a class. Her cuing in on point, her energy is inspiring without being over the top, and her form is perfect. I like that she builds on the combinations and the workout isn't too dancey and all over the place. This is a no nonsense workout. I have never felt my hip flexors until using this workout. I have a problem with flexibility in my left leg and I know this will increase my strength and flexibility. I definitely plan on buying the rest of her dvds. - posted by Jocelyn on 9/30/2009
Great for hip, knee and core strengthening!
This is just what I needed! This truly is perfect for strengthening the lower body the right way. I have weak knees, yet work out religiously, including using an eliptical at highest ramp and resistance, along with lunges and squats and an array of total body workout videos. This video targets often overlooked muscles that help support your body, yet still gets your heartrate up (unlike pilates/yoga)! My hipflexors were definitely worked (didn't realize how weak they were) along with my core (essential for balance). Her cuing is phenomenal and she is very easy on the eyes and ears. Can't wait to try her upper body video. She knows her stuff! I'm very happy I got this video and highly recommend it to those looking to develop a healthy body. I plan to keep this up to help prevent future aches, pains and injuries! - posted by Lisa on 9/9/2009
Really Enjoyable- More Please!
Ilaria's Bodystrikes is great. It is a mild to slightly moderate cardio workout, which simultaneously works the lower body and abs/core. I like the way she builds the combinations. The only complaint I have was that I felt like I was just getting started when the workout was ending, which I guess is also sort of a compliment. I wanted more repetitions of that 4th combo, and would have enjoyed at least two more "exercises" (the small combos she calls "exercises," and then she puts the "exercises" together to form longer combos that are all of the "exercises" she has shown to that point). I can tell I will get good use out of this- Ilaria is pleasant, her voice is soft, and she is low-key and relaxed, which I like. She quietly describes form, but more importantly demonstrates great form, which to me, means more than long, verbose descriptions of good form. I would like to see Bodystrikes, the advanced version, come out next! - posted by w.o.w. on 9/5/2009
A well produced, well choreographed routine.
I own over 40 fitness videos and am very impressed with this one. It is very professional - both in production and execution. Ilaria is a great instructor with perfect form. I hope to see more from her. If you really put 100% effort into this (with marching between reps, going deep on squarts/lunges) you will get a cardio workout too. I have seen great results from this workout. This workout costs a little more than others, but it is worth it. - posted by Kelly on 8/11/2009
Great form; great workout!
This is my first workout by Ilaria. I was looking for a change with a routine where I could focus primarily on my form and use my body weight only. This met all of my expectations. Her cuing is precise and to the point. I felt the effects of this workout immediately. The combos are good and not difficult to learn; they are repeated a sufficient number of times. Her accent is a little heavy, but I didn't mind increasing my volume to hear her more clearly. This one has quickly become one of my favorites. It is great alone or as a warm-up for another routine (which is how I used it initially). - posted by Anita on 7/15/2009
Hello Lean Legs!!!
I did Ilaria's workout for the first time today. WOW!! I enjoy this one just as much as the ballet workouts for lower body. I think they go great together. I was given bad advice on more than one occasion regarding leg workouts. I was told to lift heavy as possible for my legs, which is a huge mistake. My legs are short and stocky, so I prefer lighter weights with higher reps. Look at llaria's body. She's very well proportioned and muscular....but still feminine. I would love to have legs like hers. Of course, I wouldn't mind the arms either...HA HA! Great video, and I look forward to purchasing more from Ilaria. I like her personality. Her moves were easy to follow, yet challenging enough to give me a great workout!! - posted by Brenda on 7/11/2009

Reading a Time Graph

Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
