You go girl!
Excellent workout! jsut when you thought you're gone die if you move once more - you are done! Goes by very fast, and Ilaria builds on layer by layer - you need to do it a few times to find your timeing and pace but ---- Phew-hoo! you get an all around workout. I do have to say that your balance and coordination have to be at a mediocre or above level to not feel to our of place. Ilaria is a workhorse! - posted by Maria on 11/29/2013
This is a good lower body and core workout. It starts slower and gradually intensifies ending with a cool-down. Ilaria offers options on how intense do you want to work. It is a kick boxing style. I have kick boxing dvds, but I really like hers. Ilaria cueing is good and they are all sweating with you. The idea is to burn calories and reshapes a more powerful lower body. As a women who doesn’t like that idea. I think Itaria is one of the best instructors that you can get on a dvd. - posted by Nancy on 9/8/2013
Great workout and an awesome instructor
Ilaria is one of my favorite DVD workout instructors (along with Amy Bento, and Cathe Friedrich). She is an excellent cuer, and she develops great workouts that get the work done without any additional fluff moves included. I'm almost 46 and have been working out since I was 19 years old, and I studied martial arts when I was in my mid-20's. I love Powerstrikes, because it takes the martial arts moves I loved to do when I was younger and turns them into an advanced, low-impact, no-nonsense workout that gets the work done. It's fun, easy to follow, with precise instructions on the proper way to execute a move as well instructions on how not to do a move. The first time I did this workout I was sore for several days, but I love it! Several of my co-workers have also tried it and enjoy it as well. This is a workout that truly works and will get you results if you stick with it. Ilaria is a very motivational instructor....she is a joy to workout with from my side of the DVD player :-) - posted by Nancy on 3/13/2013
Liked but returning
I really enjoyed ilaria's style but got quickly bored because she keeps it very simply and just does the same few moves for the entire time. - posted by Cindy on 2/8/2013
Gets the job done
This is the first Ilaria DVD I tried. Given her style of instruction, it won't be my last. This DVD isn't complicated to learn, the exercises build on intensity, but this is not a very physically challenging video, in my opinion. I have been working out a l-o-n-g time, and endured what can be considered torture in Cathe Friedrich DVDs. So, in comparison, this one is easy. Actually, what I like about this workout is that it ISN'T torture, and I use it when I feel like concentrating on my legs. If you aren't used to a lower body workout, you'll probably have some soreness after this--in a good way. I also like that this workout is 45 minutes. It's a little on the boring side, as far as repetition is concerned and the music leaves a bit to be desired, but I can deal with this. I'm not knocking the workout, I'm just trying to give an honest assessment. I like Ilaria a lot--she is encouraging and easy to follow. I would like to try another DVD in her series, probably one that incorporates more upper body. - posted by Lisa on 1/25/2013
Simple but effective
This is my first Ilaria video and I liked it from the start. It is easy to follow but challenging to me. I do have some issues with my knees from time to time, but doing this video didn't cause me trouble with the knees. I did have to modify just a few of the routines but that is because I still need to build up my strength. I like that this video targets the lower body specifically. - posted by Holly on 12/29/2012
A really good lower-body workout that also gives a cardio effect
|I thought that Bodystrikes by Ilaria Montagnani is a really well-done lower-body workout. It is around 45 minutes long and you work all 45 minutes non-stop. I like it because it is an awesome leg workout with a variety of moves - kicks, leg lifts, squats, lunges - in four segments that are all put together into one routine at the end of the workout. The choreography, for lack of a a better word, in this workout is easy to follow, and the transitions are easy too with no awkward steps or counts.
Ilaria is in front of five back-up exercisers in a well-lit studio and they are set against a bank of windows. It all gives a light and airy feel. There is not modifier. However, throughout the program, Ilaria describes and presents a modified version of each move for beginners or those with problem areas (like knees or back issues). I had no problem with knowing what modifications I wanted to do. There are times when Ilaria how NOT to do a particular move along with why it is a bad idea. As a visual person who likes lots of detail about form, I like knowing the "why" because it helps me in my overall knowledge and fitness performance.
Each of the four segments is introduced move by move and is drilled before putting it together and moving on. The moves are straight forward and the combination of moves are comfortable and logical. The segments get more challenging as you do them with tempo changes and additional twists to the moves. The moves just flow for me because of their sequence and Ilaria's incredible cueing. And, this is a really is a truly low-impact workout that keeps your heart rate and intensity up with continuous, non-stop movement. I also found it to be aerobic and strength oriented at the same time. If you are looking for running, jumping, punching or anything other than the lower-body combinations in this workout, Bodystrikes is not the DVD for you. If you are looking for a great low impact and high intensity leg workout that gives a definite cardio effect, check out Bodystrikes. - posted by Laura on 12/28/2012|
Great, simple workout
This is my favorite workout DVD. It is simple and effective. Iliaria's personality is fantastic- she is straightforward, down to earth, and cute. It is an easy to follow lower body workout that concentrates on toning the thighs, behind and abs. I would say that it can also be cardiovascular, as I work up a sweat every time. I am always training for marathons and this a great way to keep my legs strong without relying on weights and fast moves that could cause injury. It also is perfect for someone who must travel and does not have access to weights or other equipment. - posted by Liesel on 9/4/2012
Ilaria is an exceptional instructor with precision cueing. This is a tough work out that will make one sweat and not injure your joints. I am 55 and have been working out since my 30's with Kathy Smith, Karen Voight, Gilad, The Firm and Ilaria now brings new moves that are fun, fluid, and effective. I am pleased to see more instructors use kick boxing with a ballet flare.. it really works the legs. I like her music that has a great beat that sets the mood to want to work hard. Thank you for a great work out! - posted by Sandy on 8/27/2012
Ilaria teaches great form
|This is what stands out for me with this video: Ilaria teaches great form. She has perfect posture and for me watching people moving properly is the best way how I learn form. She too is one of the few instructors who use the "left and right" cueing which I really appreciate in a video instructor. When she moves to "her" right she says "left" because that is where I the one watching her moves to as I mirror her.
This workout also gets me into a great sweat and pushes my limits. Nice! - posted by Sylvia on 7/29/2012|
