Certified instructor description: A kickbox-inspired program that blends the aerobics right into the toning. With its limited set of simple moves and steady state pacing, this workout lets you “get into the zone” and and just have fun. No "cardio bursts," no "punch/jab" combos. Instead, this fat-blaster is totally lower-body-focused — lots squats and burpees, plus endless kicking variations (crescent, roundhouse, front, side, high, low...). You get four combos that gradually build in intensity. Taught add-on-style, they all feature similar moves, just arranged in varying sequences and patterns. As always, Ilaria is a no-nonsense, “give it all you've got” instructor. ©2012. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Ilaria's Bodystrikes Volume 3

Fun fun fun
I really liked this workout. It was fun and the instructor and music are inspiring. - posted by kristi on 4/18/2013
It's good but...
I'll start off by saying Iliara is fun to watch, a really enjoyable instructor, I watched the preview before ordering and somewhat knew what to expect in regards to the drills. I am an advanced exerciser, but not advanced at choreography, so sometimes I found myself behind (mind you this was my first time) and trying to remember the next part of the drills from the beginning of the workout got me frazzled. However I got a good sweat, but I did not find this as hard or intense as I had expected from prior reviews, Michelle Dozois Peak 10's and Cathe's KPC workout are much more intense given they aren't the same exact styles as Ilaira's. Also, I was hoping to sub this in as a cardio style, high rep no weight leg day to stimulate the glutes/quads, which it does, but again, I have other workouts that do so more efficiently in my rotation. This is not a replacement for leg day.... Just a good low intensity endurance style kickboxing workout, if that's your thing, go to it. If you like something more intense, higher speed and isolate the legs (rather than the hips) harder, this probably isn't want you would be expecting as an advanced exerciser. I am on the fence about returning because I don't think this will find it's way into my rotation often along side my running, barre, circuit and heavy lifting days. - posted by Soobies on 4/12/2013
Great workout
This is a wonderful workout that provides a routine with exercises that are tough but fun. I have many of her DVD's. You will sweat!!!!! and burn calories. I love the music. Ilaria provides professional instruction. The camera shots are better than some of her other DVD's and stay focused on the whole body of Ilaria so you can follow the routine. Give your self at least a month to learn the routine. It gets more fun as you do it!! - posted by Sandy on 4/8/2013
Love this Workout
I have just finished doing this great body weight workout for the first time and I loved it! You can really get into the zone and work on perfecting the movement patterns. My only gripe is I was relying on Ilaria to cue all the movement changes and because I was having such a good time, I did not want to miss any of the reps as this is part of the challenge. I look forward to doing this workout again so the combinations will be very familiar and I will get it all. Ilaria and her team are so convincing and inspiring. Keep producing more DVDs like this one please. - posted by Helen on 4/6/2013
Great kickboxing challenge
Yeah Ilaria! I was disappointed with the last Ilaria I purchased but this one and others have made up for it. If you like martial arts I believe you'll enjoy this one. All lower body workout with four sets and no breaks like tabata. It's starts with one move and then keeps adding on until you have the entire routine, which you than do for about 10 minutes. It's a fun routine that you have to concentrate on, so the minutes fly by. Really enjoy it. You will be sweating. - posted by Marcell on 3/28/2013
Tough workout
Ilaria is a no nonsense instructor and one of my favorites. This one will have your heart rate up in no time. I am a life long exerciser, but this kickbox sequence had my legs feeling like they weighed a ton by the end of the workout! This DVD has long sequences which I think puts her ahead of other instructors who host kickboxing DVDs. If you want a good workout, this is it! - posted by Maryann on 3/28/2013
Another good one for Ilaria!
Really like Bodystrikes v3. It was tough and also alot of fun. I have Bodystrike #2 which is also good and this is a great companion to that and Atletica v2 which I also purchased. Ilaria and team really seem to have fun with this workout and I was pleasantly sore the next day and worked up a good sweat. I have been seeing great results from Ilaria's workouts. Sometimes its a nice change to just get down to business with not so much talking from the instructor. Still love my Cathe workouts but these are nice when I like to switch things up. - posted by Ericka on 3/15/2013
Another no-nonsense workout from Ilaria
Ilaria's no frills workouts are tough and enjoyable. This one is no exception. I say don't change and keep 'em coming. - posted by Yvette on 3/7/2013
Love it!
I love this workout. Give yourself time to learn it and you will love it more. It is a sweat burning aerobic workout. I have been using the ballet videos and found this to be a great change up in routine to elevate my heart rate and burn calories. It is fun. I like the new age/techo music. The beat is great for motivation with little singing. Singing voices can be distracting so not able to hear the instructor. Her instruction is excellent and appreciate no excessive talking so one can enjoy the beat of the music. It is a routine that will not stress the joints but will provide a great burn in your muscles to feel like your getting in better shape. The camera shots are much better with only a few shots that hindered seeing what Ilaria was doing. Thank you Ilaria for sharing your talent to help us be healthy! - posted by Sandy on 2/17/2013
Best one yet
Love this workout!!! Really had me sweating and breathing heavy. The reps are alot longer and pretty intense. The best of the Bodystrikes series. - posted by Debbie on 2/7/2013

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
