Certified instructor description: A solid kickboxing workout taught by a true martial arts expert. Ilaria’s precise cuing and well-designed structure makes it easy to master. She starts with the punches, then adds the kicks and finally introduces a huge variety of punch/kick combos (so you’ve already perfected the individual techniques before you begin the more challenging patterns). The combinations also smoothly build in variety and complexity as Ilaria layers in new moves (while maintaining a consistent intensity). The class exercisers are all veteran PowerStrike instructors so their form is always flawless (e.g. crisp punches, perfect kicks). ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Ilaria's PowerStrike 5

love this one: not too repetitive
I love Ilaria's videos. She isn't annoying, the music provides a good beat, and you don't even repeat the sequences on on both sides. Athletic, not dancey. Not too challenging; tons of fun! - posted by Joann on 1/29/2012
This workout is actually fun to do!
I have been working out with Ilaria's Bodystrike workouts for some time now, and absolutely love them. I hadn't tried the Powerstrike workouts however, as I am rather uncoordinated & didn't think I could get the punch sequences down. But I felt I needed to add some more high energy, yet low impact workouts to my kettlebell & Bodystrike routines. Unfortunately feet issues prevent me from doing anything high impact, that is if I want to be able to walk the next day. After reading the many reviews, I decided to try Ilaria's Powerstrike 5 & 6. I started with Powerstrike 5, as it sounded as though it was a bit less complicated. Admittedly I did struggle a bit with the punch sequences, but by the end of the workout I was already starting to get them, and have no doubts that I will have them down after a few more times. Having said that, I must say this was one of the most fun workouts I have ever done, plus I was sweating buckets! I must agree with other posters, in that the camera people need to pull back and stop the close-ups, so that you can see what the instructor's feet are doing. But I still give this 5 stars for the fun factor alone! And of course Ilaria is her stellar self & cues wonderfully. My only other real issues is that the routine is not balanced on both sides, which really bugs me. But I will resolve this as I do with my other workout videos, and just alternate which side I start on each time. This means that every other time I do the workout I am not mirroring what the instructors are doing , which can get confusing at times, but I find it to be a good solution to make sure I am balanced on both sides. I am looking forward to doing Powerstrike 6, if it is half as fun as Powerstrike 5, I will be a happy exerciser! And final note, my feet feel great, no pain whatsoever :-> - posted by Tracey on 1/16/2012
Meh...
I'm an advanced exerciser and I love kickboxing, but I just couldn't get into this. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't find the cuing to be exact or helpful at all, and though I could get the moves the second time around, the workout was just so boring. Ilaria breaks up the exercise portion so there's one long arm combo at the beginning and then mostly legs for the rest of it. For me this made it really monotonous as each combo felt pretty much like the last. Also, overall I just didn't feel terribly challenged in terms of stamina or strength. I much prefer Cathe Friedrich's Kick Max, which is much more challenging as well as being really engaging and dynamic. - posted by Gina on 1/13/2012
Felt it in my legs the next day!
I've been looking for a good kickboxing video for a while and this seemed to be it. The first I did it I wasn't all that into it because I couldn't do the double punches so it messed up the sequence. The second time I did it I finally got it down so did I feel it after! I was really into it and didn't feel discouraged. My thighs were sore the next day and I felt great! - posted by Michelle on 12/14/2011
Nope...
I love Ilaria, but this dvd has been sitting on a shelf for ages..I've tried doing it a few times but is too hard to follow...nope. - posted by aimee on 10/28/2011
Pretty good for light days
I have been looking at adding more low impact videos to my workout rotations due to issues I've been having with my feet. I have done workouts such as Insanity, and have a steady rotation of Cathe Friedrich, so I guess I'm an advanced exerciser. This video is a solid low-impact kickboxing workout. It gets my heart rate up a little and I feel like I've had a decent workout, good for a light day. Ilaria is a good instructor and I am really impressed with her. I really enjoy this video and it will be in my regular rotation. - posted by Eva on 10/27/2011
Wow!
This is a great kickbox workout, but is harder than it looks. This does become difficult to follow but if you have any other background, you can fill in and pick back up. sometimes tough to follow but you will be dripping sweat none the less! - posted by Missy on 10/6/2011
Boring
I feel like this video just does the same moves over and over. I found it painfully boring. To be fair though, I have never done a kickboxing video before, so maybe kickboxing just isn't for me. The instructor, is very inspiring, but there's no fun factor. - posted by Nanette on 9/16/2011
Love Powerstrike!
At first, was intimidated by this series. But, I eneded up getting every DVD available! Yes, the moves can be complicated. However, it is a lot like dancing. If you think about it too hard, you have trouble. WHen I learned to just follow the flow, I did great. I really enjoy kickboxing. and, I really enjoy her style. SHe is direct but does not try to be mean. And, I must admit, I really like her accent! - posted by Tina on 9/2/2011
Simple and Easy-to-Follow
I liked Ilaria's breakdown of the moves and didn't complicate things with complex choreography. - posted by Susan on 7/10/2011

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
