Certified instructor description: An easy-to-follow aerobic workout plus a relaxing meditation segment. The cardio program burns calories and strengthens your heart with three diverse dance sections: Doo Wop, Latin and Old School Funk (using simplified steps like jazz squares, mambos and grapevines). Jane also includes lots of complementary arm movements that maximize the fun while boosting effectiveness. It's all taught add-on-style in a light-hearted manner with lots of friendly instruction (e.g. "feels like you're dancing barefoot on the sand"). The meditation program is quiet and relaxing; it begins with gentle stretches and ends with eyes-closed contemplation. ©2011. DVD has: Wide screen, Close captions, Region 1.

Jane Fonda's Prime Time Firm & Burn

Started Fitness Lifestyle 30 Years Ago with Jane Fonda
I am 60 years old, and have been working out for 30 years. Gratefully, I am still able to do intermediate/advanced cardio/strength workouts and they are what I usually do. The older I get, the harder I seem to need to workout to maintain. BUT, having said that, I do like this workout for those occasional days when I am looking for something a little easier. I must say, my heartrate does get elevated, but I make sure that I do the entire cardio workout, 30 minutes or so. I still enjoy Jane like I did 30 years ago, and of course, something about her brings back good memories. I highly recommend this for those of a certain age, looking for an occasional easier workout, or for your regular workout. - posted by BARBARA on 5/22/2012
Better than I expected
I have been 'doing' Jane since she was a young snippet and thought I would try her Senior DVDs. I began with the Walkout and just kept going. I am 65, and have been exercising pretty regularly for the past several years, and I found this DVD to be fun and challenging as well as interesting. The worst thing is to try to exercise while being bored to death! I think these last 2 of her DVDs - including this one - are just fantastic, and have just the right amount of difficulty for someone who has been exercising for a while and needs something new. - posted by Carol on 5/18/2012
Good
Easy to follow and Jane looks like she uses every day normal gals and guys. - posted by Beverly on 4/21/2012
Love this Workout!
I am 58 and have been working out for over 20 years. However, during the last year, I've found it more and more difficult to stay motivated - just haven't had the energy for the hard workouts. Jane Fonda's Prime Time has motivated me again! It's not so difficult that I dread doing it, but it does get my heart rate elevated. Love the music. Jane does it again! - posted by Karin on 4/16/2012
Back in the groove with Jane!
Most of my adult life I have been a regular exerciser. Now 63 years old, I have worked the past ten years at jobs that keep me seated at a computer all day. And I let my exercising lapse except for a (mostly) daily walk. The result: 40 extra pounds, and I just couldn't keep up the exercise videos I used to use. Well, Jane Fonda has changed all that! I bought all three of her new videos and she has me back in the exercise groove again! They are just the right pace - not so slow and easy that it feels like I am wasting my time, and not so long, fast, and challenging that I use the DVD once and no more. Jane has hit it just exactly right. Her gentle and personal understanding of the aging process and her genuine enthusiasm have helped me re-establish a healthy exercise routine. Heartfelt thanks to you, Jane! - posted by Barbara on 3/29/2012
A good workout
To be honest, I didn't expect such a great workout for seniors. I just turned 65 and do walk an average of 1-2 miles 3-4 times a week and am a rather rabid gardener but thought this would be a good alternative for me. And even though I do a brisk walk I did feel Jane's workout push me further and worked more areas of the body. Although it is listed as beginner, I think you will definitely get a great workout if you've been a couch potato for a while. Very impressed. I also ordered the "Trim, Tone and Flex" and was equally happy with the purchase. - posted by Kathleen on 3/15/2012

The Exercise Video I've been looking for
I am in my mid 50s and had a mastectomy a few years ago. It has been difficult to find an exercise video which I could do start to finish, given the type of surgery I had. I was so pleased when I found this one because it is exactly what I had been looking for - routines that get me in the 'zone' which are also gentle and easy to follow and perform. I especially like that the aerobic segments are separate so you can do one, two or all three. I am now exercising regularly and loving it! It's allowed me to enjoy a part of my life I thought I had to give up. Thank you Jane - thank you Collage Video! - posted by Margaret on 2/17/2012
Still Great
Great video for those of us getting older. Loved Jane's videos in the 80's and she still motivates me now that I'm in my 60's. - posted by Ruth on 2/16/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.

This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Specialty: Seniors
X
Workouts especially designed for older exercisers (e.g. featuring seniors participants or older music styles). They may include all three basic exercise types: aerobics, toning and stretch.
