Certified instructor description: A challenging program that features innovative variations of classic body-sculpting exercises. Jari maximizes the workout's interest — and effectiveness — with diverse tempos, planes, pulses and positions (e.g. a similar move done standing, seated and on the floor). She also varies the range of motion, sequencing and rep counts (e.g. "eight singles, then four up, then four down, then three up..."). Most routines use a single exercise to isolate a single muscle group, but some sequences work multiple areas at once. It's tough, but Jari often includes "recovery" segments and shows easier modifications (e.g. no weights). Requires 5 to 10 lb. dumbbells; a step is suggested. ©2012. Note: The premixes are 42 and 45 minutes, not the "30 minute workouts" shown on the cover. DVD has: 2 premixes (42 & 45 min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus.

Jari Love's Extremely Ripped & Chiseled

Great Video!
I was skeptical when I first purchased this video but the instructor Jari Love does a fantastic job. The choreography, instruction, music and total workout is very well put together. I am a fitness instructor myself (just 6 hours per week) and I like to see what other instructors are doing so I have purchased many a video and this is definitely a good one! - posted by Sylvia on 5/15/2013
Hmmmmm
I finally bought a Jari DVD after not buying anything new from her for years. I was skeptical about the dark set, the hollywood lights etc. I finally took the plunge and bought this DVD. It's pretty good. It's same old encouraging Jari and she has two other regulars lead segments which is a nice change. She also has some new moves and the sets are different and enduring - which for me is a good thing. That said.... The menu is so confusing. I did the upper body workout today and it was actually one hour long!! I did the warm up (which isn't bad) and then hit the upper body premix. There was no back or chest on there so I had to go over to the lower body premix to find it??? That is just odd. And - why advertise 2-30 minute workouts when neither premix is 30 minutes long. The lower body is actually just under 20 minutes minus the warm up???? For the workout - I give it a 4 stars. For the DVD set up - 3 stars. Oh - and she moves very fast with the weights in many parts - too fast, actually. I just did my own pace during those moments. - posted by Cathefan on 4/13/2013
The old, wonderful Jari Love is back & is better than ever before
I have been doing Jari Love’s old dvds for 3 years now and I absolutely love them. I lost more than 40 kgs /88 pounds with her help within months. When I thanked her she even wrote me a wonderful personal e-mail. Unfortunately I did not like her next generation dvds that much and was going back to her old dvds even though I own her entire collection and faithfully buy her every dvd. I missed the old Jari. But her latest dvd “Ripped and Chiselled” has brought back that old Jari personality, style of exercises, motivation and moves that I love. This dvd has revamped and made one of her best dvds (Chiselled) even better than the original. I absolutely love this new DVD and I hope she continues this style. Well done Jari, this dvd is a winner.A+++ - posted by Lorelei on 4/11/2013
It's Ok
First I have to say that I am more of a cardio girl than a weight girl. I like that this got back to non-compound weight work. I am so tired of lunges with flys, squats with overhead presses, etc. So this fit the bill for more traditional weight work. I found the sets a little too long for my tastes. I often skipped to the next exercise at about the last set. I add this on to cardio. Some segments I did it all. But frankly, I was getting bored. I thought Jari and crew seemed uncomfortable with the camera and comments seemed awkward to me. I will take this one out occasionally as I think it may grow on me, but not really jazzed about it. - posted by Cam on 3/26/2013
My favorite new dvd!
I've been a fan of Jari Love for years but have to admit that I've been very disappointed in the last few she has put out. But Get Extremely Ripped and Chiseled is fantastic! It seems like a nice update to the way she used to be........good solid workouts with lots of reps to build muscle along with enough cardio to help burn the fat. The original Ripped and Chiseled has always been one of my favorite workouts and this will certainly hold a place along side it. I read a couple other reviews that asked for more stretching between exercises. I personally do NOT want anymore than is already in it. I'm on limited time and if I have a dvd with a lot of stretching between exercises I end up fast forwarding so I can do more of the workout. I also want to mention that the abs section with Laurie is great! Only 5 minutes long but it gets you, wish it were a little longer. Thanks Jari for putting this one out, it's great! - posted by Carmel on 3/2/2013
Bringin' the Burn
I was a little hesitant to get this DVD, as I prefer compound exercises (double duty, aerobic, effective) and this features more of an isolation (targeting one muscle group at a time)approach. I was pleasantly surprised as this was a great muscular challenge that managed to keep my heart rate up for most of the video. I loved the new moves. The first track, a hovering type squat with no weights, is very effective. The decline pushups are pretty tough too. Though some of the upper body tracks seem to go on and on to the point of risking injury. I skipped ahead on a few tracks, I was feeling some moves straining my elbows (I was keeping proper form, it was just too many reps). Some people mentioned the set and lights as a negative, but really, who cares? I am doing the video to get a great workout and once I get the form down I am too busy concentrating on my form to be scrutinizing the set. Jari did a great job, and she is getting better with each video. - posted by Sierra on 3/1/2013
Great Workout!
This was my first Jari Love DVD, the workout is challenging, especially the lower body for me. They use a step for part of the workout, I don't have one so I just do that part of the workout on the floor, or I use my fitness ball. The dark studio did not bother me, not sure why this is an issue for some. - posted by Carol on 2/28/2013
Jari Rocks
Yup I am a Jari fan and she does not disappoint with this workout. Tough and challenging and no stopping as you move from one routine to the next. I liked the fact that different levels are presented for each routine. The lunge routine off the bench really works the legs and gave me new goals! The fresh and challenging moves help break through any sense of boredom or plateaus. Thank you Jari! - posted by Deb on 2/21/2013
More of the Same Jeri
It is a fun and effective workout with fun people! I love Jeri Love and have attributed her videos to getting off of the stubborn last 10 pound plateau!! She's a winner! - posted by Jean on 2/14/2013
Challenging; but not my favorite Jari Love video!
I am a fan of the Jari Love videos (have the originals). This video is probably my least favorite. I think it is very challenging & it will produce results. The other "Ripped" videos have time between each exercise for explanation. I feel this video has too many distractions; all the lights & when she is stating how another member is doing the variations, the camera is still on all the members doing the regular variations. I will continue to use it, as it is challenging. I love to switch up all her videos to challenge my muscles with different variations. I am 41 years old & basically do only muscle toning videos (as my life is busy)! Strength training to me is more important than cardio, as with the strength training you do raise your heart rate & I also know the more muscle that you have, the more calories you burn at rest; not to mention that it is good for your bones & every woman looks better with toned muscles (no jiggle on my arms)! Yes, I would recommend this video, but if you are accustomed to her original videos, be ready for a difference! - posted by Amy on 2/14/2013

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
