Certified instructor description: Well-cued and well-designed aero/tone intervals with lots of exercise and length options. You can play the entire program or select a shorter “premix” alternative (e.g. a 41-minute condensed workout or just 13 minutes of abwork). Jari’s no-nonsense exercises and consistent format makes it possible. You get six 11-minute segments. Each one starts with ab-toning classics like planks and reverse curls. That’s followed by multi-muscle weight training that shapes your upper and lower body at the same time. Finally, each section ends with intense, higher-impact aerobics (e.g. jacks with tucks, jump squats, speed skaters). Includes on-screen technique tips. Requires 3 to 10 lb. dumbbells; a jump rope is optional. ©2010. DVD has: 5 premixes (13 to 44 min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Jari Love's Extremely Ripped Boot Camp

Should Have Been Better
This should have been a five star workout, but there's too much wrong, starting with her awful outfit (she tugs on it!) and the set is too dark (you can't see them when they're on the floor). It isn't two workouts because there's no back/biceps in the second part. The exercises start before we even get to the section, and there's no beforehand demonstrations--she just assumes we know what she's going to do. And she barely acknowledges her excellent crew--there's no fun banter. Jari's usually great, but this is so sloppy. With proper editing (and new set/outfit designers!), this workout would have been so much better. - posted by Valerie on 5/4/2012
Boot Camp - Not
I do not care for this format. There is too much stopping and starting. Ques aren't very good it there at all. Seems Jari is more interested in other things. - posted by Cherie on 1/26/2012
Decent
I have to say I own several of Jari's dvds and this one is not my favorite. However, it is still a challenge. The workouts started off a little slow for me and I found them slightly boring...to start. As I went further into the routines they did pick up in intensity. I would say that the price is a bit higher for this dvd in comparison to many of her others and I am wondering why? I also agree, the production was a bit off. I didn't care for the couple of routines that started prior to the viewer even being advised of what was coming. I don't mean to say this was not a good workout, but I would recommend waiting for the price to drop for this one. You will sweat, but it's different from her others. I was slightly disappointed and will use this less frequently than her other dvds. - posted by Diane on 1/12/2012
Good interval training
This dvd and the new Get Extremely Ripped 1000 Hardcore are the top 2 in my rotation at home now. I have almost all of Jari's dvds, and continue to use all of them, but I really appreciate that these 2 recent DVDs increased the cardio difficultly and added variety. I also prefer these 2 far more than the Get Extremely Ripped 1000 which builds up intensity and makes it too easy to slack off on the cardio. I prefer Jari's interval training to the all-weight dvds, but still use the all weight training ones on occasion. If you like Get Ripped 1000, you'll like this DVD. My only complaint is the poor editing and transition into a couple of intervals. You are given no warning and just see the team doing the weights; I just rewind a little bit when this happens but eventually I'll anticipate this lack of transition. This doesn't ruin the DVD - just annoying a couple of times. Thanks, Jari. Please do more dvds like this one and Get Ext. Ripped 1000 Hardcore. - posted by Lynn on 1/5/2012
Boot Camp- Yikes!!!
This video is very hard-much cardio & not for anyone with bad knees. I have tried to do it a few times & I have to skip over some of the segments. Good for younger people. - posted by Shirley on 12/23/2011
My Body Still Hurts
I think I'm like most women, a little intimidated by most work out DVD's, but after a friend brought this to my place to show me how the ripped bootcamp had already started to change her body and she had only been doing it 20 days, I just couldnt pass it up! I now own most of Jari Loves video's and LOVE them, I like that I dont need alot of expensive equipment or have to go to the gym to get the burn I so often need, but am to tired or sick of traffice to get. This Dvd is for people who want results!!! - posted by Stephanie on 11/22/2011
Extremely Ripped Boot Camp delivers
This is a challenging workout, I was dripping with sweat by the end and felt a little sore the next day. Loved the length of this video and liked that it targets so many muscle groups. My only complaint: I found Jari's tips before each sequence a little annoying. - posted by Michele on 11/21/2011
Not As Easy to Follow
First, let me say that I LOVE Love DVDs!! This one? Good, tough work-out (5'3", 111 lb., burned 545 calories); HOWEVER, there's not enough time in between segments to get the correct weight and get organized, and by that time the group has already completed two sets of lunges. The suggested weights to be used at each segment doesn't appear until the exercise starts. I finally wrote down the list of segments and indicated to myself when to pause the video. Shouldn't have to do that for a professional video, especially conducted by someone of Jari's experience. Despite the above, I've made this workout part of my collection and enjoy when it comes up in rotation. My all out favorite is still Jari's "Ripped To The Core." I used to be a Firm devotee, but Jari's workouts have changed my body. - posted by Mo on 11/2/2011

Laurie is a great instructor too!
I loved that Jari allowed Leslie and Laurie to instruct a couple of the segments. I loved Laurie's soothing, yet encouraging voice, I had never heard her speak before. Her body transformation has also been impressive to see throughout all of Jari's videos. I also love Jari's sense of fashion, her mini-skirt rocks! Of course, her body is simply awesome, it makes me want to keep working out, to try to look half as good as her. Jari puts a lot of effort and dedication in her videos, it shows. They are all high quality videos. - posted by Vilmarie on 10/23/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
