Certified instructor description: An innovative mix of dance/athletic cardio followed by traditional body sculpting. The aerobic section is truly unique. It features alternating intervals of hi/lo aerobics and dance-based cardio. The hi/lo segments are taught by Jari — challenging sequences of jacks, jumps and turns. The dance intervals are led by a professional dance instructor; they include jazz, disco, Latin and hip hop (cleverly, the DVD has premixes that let you work out to only the hi/lo or only the dance moves). The ending toning section is classic Jari Love —gym-style exercises done with varied weights, body positions and tempos. Requires 3 to 15 lb. dumbbells. ©2010. DVD has: 2 premixes (52 & 58 min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus.

Jari Love's Get Extremely Ripped Body Rock

Good Workout
I like the hi-low segment. It is just enough for me-having slumped in my exercise for a few months. Not a big fan of the dance part but I do like the toning and the aerobic parts. This is my first Jari Love video; I will consider more as this is a really good workout. - posted by Sheila on 1/17/2013
Fun and Hard
This is a great workout. I like that you can choose to do just Dance, just High/Low, or just weights. I did the whole workout my second time using the video and felt like I had worked every muscle in my body. The Dance section is fun with easy steps. The High Low moves are very basic, but they really get your heart pumping. The moves reminded me of 1980's aerobics which I use to teach. I like the variations in the weight section. This is my second Jari video, and I really feel like her videos will change my body because she really does a lot of reps in the weight sections. I love Firm videos, but they never do enough reps when it comes to the weight work. Jari's videos are true weight lifting workouts like you would do in a weight room, but with the benefit of Collage, you can do it right at home and it is not boring like lifting weights in a weight room can be. - posted by Kristin on 12/30/2012
Wow!
Jari will get you in your best shape ever. Simple to follow but very challenging to keep up. I am 55 yrs old & a fitness junkie since I was 15. Jari's workouts have "changed my body". I believe I am in better shape now then when I was in my 20's & 30's. You want results you have to try all of Jari's workouts. - posted by Jane on 9/15/2012

Good Workout
This workout for me wasn't as intense as the others but still gave me good workout. I enjoyed the weight segment more than the dance segment. However, this is a nice change from her other videos and I would recommend this for anyone who wants something different. - posted by Cheryl on 12/17/2011
great way to switch things up!
I just went back to this workout after not having done it in a while.... wow! I forgot how fun it was! I love the dance/hi-low segments especially... really makes the time fly and makes cardio actually fun. I like that Jari stepped out of the box on this one and I also love how many workout options there are. 2 thumbs up from me! - posted by Keagan on 5/28/2011
Really liked this one
The cardio section was a lot of fun: There is a dance section, followed by Jari leading a more traditional aerobic interval. The weight section was typical Jari; well cued, effective, and well done. I thought it was a nice everyday workout. - posted by Sharon on 4/7/2011
Good and Bad --
The Good: The dance routine is so much fun. No, I did not get my heartrate in its training zone, but I enjoyed the dances and the professional dancers. Jari was motivating and had her usual kind demeanor. I also like the music. The weight work is OK - but I found I needed heavier weight for the bicep and chest work. I felt the burn in my triceps, so during the tricep pushups I did full body pushups. The Bad: Her moves are bad. The set is as always with Jari, way too dark. This is not an advanced workout for me. It is on a light day when I don't feel like I can get through a Cathe workout. - posted by Nona on 11/24/2010
Challenging weight section
I liked the weight section of this workout. I agree that the warmup is not the best, so I will probably do that on my own, and just jump straight to weights next time I use this video. Challenging pulses and pauses that really work to build up muscle tone. - posted by Barbara on 10/26/2010
really different
I like this one because it includes dancing which I love to do. If you can't follow some of her steps make up your own your in your own front room! It keeps you moving never saw time fly by so fast. I'd recommend it to any one if they really want something different! - posted by cathy on 10/24/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
