Certified instructor description: Two well-cued body-sculpting workouts — the first focuses on compound exercises, the second on gym-style moves. It’s a combination that provides both interest and motivation. “Lean Machine” targets multiple muscle groups in diverse ways. For example: varying upper-body dumbbell routines blended with lower-body squats and lunges (or even fast, cardio-style movements). Other exercises integrate a core-engagement element to work your entire body at once. The second program, “Weights & Abs,” features traditional sets of no-nonsense weight-training (note: this workout is part of Jari Love’s earlier “Body Rock” video). Requires 5 to 15 lb. dumbbells. ©2010. DVD has: Wide screen.

Jari Love's Get Extremely Ripped Lean Machine

So many better ways to spend your money!
I own about 150 at home workouts and this was definitely one of the biggest messes I have ever tried. As many have said, it was thrown together in no logical order, a total mishmosh of segments with uneven counts and bad cueing...and gosh I have never done a workout where the cool down & stretch is in the middle. I don't even know what else to say except please don't waste your money on this workout! - posted by Candace on 4/8/2012
Not 3 workouts!
I'm new to Jari and just bought two DVD's. Get Ripped 1000 is awesome, hard and effective. But the Lean Machine completely confused me. There wasn't 3 workouts. It seems the 2 got combined into 1 choppy confusing didn't we just do squats workout. The bonus Body Rock workout looks really good though and is the one I'll be doing the most. The beginning of the 1rst workout is too easy and I needed a quick workout the day I tried it. I stopped after 30 minutes because that's what I had time for but it wasn't good and I was disappointed. The next 30 minutes looked better but wouldn't be easy to find so I doubt I'll use the first part of this DVD. The first part is a little cheesy as another reviewer thought. - posted by Debbie on 3/31/2012

Okay Video
This vid is a little too dancy for me, although I did make it thru. - posted by Shirley on 9/15/2011
nice and steady
it is an easier workout for me but I still love it I use it when I need a break from the heavy lifting videos. - posted by petra on 7/28/2011
not too challenging but just enough!
I really like this one because it is just the right type of exercise that I am capable of doing and i can still push myself harder everytime. Eventually I will graduate into the ext. ripped 1000 and bootcamp editions :D - posted by Janice on 5/31/2011
DVD issues but reasonable workout
I've done the Jari Extremely Ripped 1000 and enjoyed it so was happy to try this new one. There is obviously a DVD issue because there aren't 3 30 minute workouts. The 30 minute Body Rock weight workout is present. I thought it was the best short strength workout I've encountered. From the longer workout, there are 2 different outfits worn and the cool down occurs in the middle with none at the end... I think they are 2 different workouts that were supposed to be tracked in the opposite order. It would explain the repetition in moves, her referring to moves as if we've done them before, the lack of cool down. I do think the workouts were good overall, with most muscle groups being used (but not nearly as intense as GER1000). I am surprised that the DVD was released this way! I'm giving the Body Rock segment 5 stars and the other 3 stars... - posted by TLH on 4/28/2011
Good but...
I just love most of Jari's videos and they have taken me far beyond what I have done with other videos. That said this one is a little on the easy side. I will still use it for the days when I have less energy. I hate to be critical because I have so much improved my strength, stamina, conditioning and overall fitness using Jari's videos!!!....Lost weight too!! - posted by Jean on 4/28/2011

Hodge Podge
I love Jari Love DVDs and have them all. This is a great workout for sure, but it is certainly put together in a hodge podge manner. I agree - I already have Body Rock, so why would she repeat that segment here? She does miss one leg series in the first set, and her counting and cuing aren't perfect, but all in all, you do get a good workout!! - posted by Jiggs on 4/9/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
