Jessica Smith's 10 Pounds Down: Cardio Abs
not just about abs
Three workouts here... The first one will knock your socks off... I walked (well, staggered) away drenched and spent. The second is more about toning and overall body work. The third is concentrated truly on just the abs. All three pack in the punch in under a half hour. There is also a four minute Tabata workout as an optional-- four minutes felt like 30, but don't feel obligated to do it. Maybe after the last ab workout so you get a little sweat in. Jessica's makeup is a little distracting, but whatever. The quantity of the workout is typically excellent. A little more rough stuff in the third workout would have brought this one to five stars instead of four. - posted by maryhoboken on 2/26/2014
Absolutely No Dread Factor!
I really enjoy this workout. I work low or high impact depending on what my body needs on a particular day. The Cardio portion combined with the Total Body Conditioning is a great workout for me. I like Jessica's instruction: she gives good form technique, good cuing & upbeat music. I highly recommend. - posted by Janice on 1/15/2014
Jessica Smith is one of the best instructors. She knows how to get an effective workout done in a short amount of time. I am an intermediate exerciser and this workout seems perfect for me. I love the Tabata bonus. It's so fast and really does get my heart pumping. My abs are in better shape after doing these workouts about five times each. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone wanting to get their core in top notch shape. - posted by Susan on 12/10/2013
I only gave it a four because of the heavy makeup. Way too much makeup and distracting. Otherwise I like the different moves and the modifications. - posted by Sued on 11/30/2013
You can make this advanced
I have had this video for a while now, and though I don't do it very often, it is fun and you can make it the level you want. I consider myself an advanced exerciser and during the cardio segments I added impact to low impact moves and kept my feet continually off the ground. I just did this one today and I was just about breathless in 30 min. So you make it what you want. The toning section I find pretty thorough. I used 10 and 12 lb dumbbells and my arms and abs are pretty fatigued. the Tabata is fun and I added it to the cardio segment. I like the ab section and I am feeling it right now. So, I disagree that this is a beginner type workout. If you want a challenge, kick it up, it makes a big difference. - posted by Cam on 10/30/2013
Not Advanced but still good
I gave this video a 3 star rating only because I do not find it to be intermediate/advanced. I would say it is beginning/intermediate. The workout is fun, and super easy to follow. Another pro is that Jessica gives options on the levels of impact. I enjoyed the workout but may return the video because I want something more intermediate/advanced. - posted by Sue on 10/29/2013
I found this a challenging workout and was glad I chose lighter weights for a first time run through while I got the moves down. I liked the variety the video had to offer and Jessica was motivating. I'll be looking into more of her videos. - posted by Cathy on 10/17/2013
Nice Intermediate Workout
Jessica is a great instructor. This workout is long if done all together and she is by herself. So, that may sound boring but it is not because she has a great personality. She gives modifications throughout so a beginner can do this too. But, there is nothing advanced about this so it has to be done on a day when an advanced person wants a lighter workout. The title is true in that it is cardio and you do work your abs in many different ways. She has some traditional moves and some unique moves. You do not need a large workout space for this DVD. I really wish Jessica would make a truly advanced workout. - posted by Karen on 10/14/2013
Good but not advanced workout
|I loved Jessica Smith's Walk DVD, almost shelving it until I got to the more intense second section, the Power Walk. I loved that and did it many times on my weight loss journey.
This DVD also grew on me as I progressed. The first section is good and easy to follow if you are a not coordinated like myself. I didn't find it raised my heart rate as much as others though, maybe for me because of the constant changing of movements. She is very encouraging and her ab sections later are well cued and effective. Different moves so not boring, so many DVD's are just copies of another. I was surprised at the lack of cool down, but I didn't mind doing it on my own.
I think it said "advanced" because if you do the whole DVD it is a lot of exercise but breaking it up, I would say intermediate.
I haven't done the tabata yet, having a tabata-style DVD with Amy Dixon, but will when I want a shorter workout. - posted by Deb on 10/11/2013|
Great work out
This is a really great intermediate work-out. Jessica is motivating and makes it fun! The choreography was easy to follow and kept me moving. I feel like I get a really good abs, cardio and strength work out in 30 minutes. This is my second Jessica Smith DVD, but won't be my last. - posted by Maureen on 9/19/2013
