Time graph for Jillian Michaels' Yoga Meltdown
A unique fusion of traditional power yoga and hardcore body sculpting. Yoga purists beware — the poses may be familiar, but the goals, sequencing and “bad ass” attitude are pure Jillian Michaels. For example, Jillian knows that a classic yoga chair pose is similar to a squat. So, she has you “rep it out” — 15 full-range-of-motion repetitions that end with an isometric hold. That technique is repeated throughout the entire workout. So, while there are lots of genuine yoga elements, Jillian’s overall goal is muscle endurance (not “peaceful mind/body bliss”). The first workout is easier; the second has some tough balance and flexibility moves (modifications are shown). ©2010. DVD has: Programmable chapters, Spanish option, Region 1.

Jillian Michaels' Yoga Meltdown

I love it
I love this workout because it is challenging and short. Being a mother of 8 and a real estate agent, I don't have a lot of time. I try to fit the gym in everyday, but when I can't I do this in the morning. If I have a little extra time, I will do this in the morning and then head to the gym. I LOVE IT!! and please don't confuse me with someone that likes to workout, but only does it because it is necessary and this works for me! - posted by Michelle on 7/28/2010
felt the burn
I did it and it is really tough but you feel the burn working and a sweat. Way different from regular yoga, good workout. - posted by Gina on 7/26/2010
Overall, a good workout
I liked this video and both workouts. Of course, it's not a "true" yoga practice, but that's okay because I got the kind of workout I would expect from Jillian. She incorporated a nice variety of poses, including some balance challenges and twisting poses (my favorite parts of yoga). I am a solid intermediate/advanced exerciser (27 years old) and a new yoga instructor myself, and so I was pleasantly surprised that I began to break a sweat by the end of these workouts. My only critiques are that some of the twisting poses are done too quickly (increasing injury possibilities), more cues are needed when you're not able to look at the TV (e.g. downward dog position), and that the "crow" position seemed out of place in the workout. I feel that it would have been more beneficial to put a pose that more people can do and that isn't so time-consuming to attempt - especially since this workout is only 30 minutes long. Overall though, I liked this video and was happy with Jillian's workouts. She is becoming a favorite instructor of mine. - posted by Kimberly on 7/23/2010
Love it!
I love this DVD. It's short and sweet (well, sorta...it's tough, but I like tough :). It will not necessarily make you feel "zen" but it will definitely help you break into a good sweat, feel refreshed and lose some weight. Jillian could afford to be a little less "boot camp" in this video, though. I know this is power yoga, and a little more aerobic, but she could lose the drill seargent voice just for this one workout. I do like how she states that doing the yoga DVD was stepping outside of her comfort zone, and how she encourages everyone to step outside of theirs. - posted by Laura on 7/9/2010
I love it
I wanted something challenging but that I could also do every day. I like going to yoga classes but yoga DVDs bore me. This is fast paced and it burns a lot more calories than regular yoga. This is clearly not Jillian’s forte but that does not take away from the DVD at all. - posted by MJ on 7/7/2010
If You Hate "Yoga", Then You'll Love This DVD
I'm in no way a yoga "purist" and that's why I chose this dvd. It's fast-paced incorporating Jillian's tough workout ethic with some basic yoga moves. I've tried traditional yoga dvds before, and they did nothing for me. With this one, I felt challenged, and I was sweatin' bullets at the end of 30 minutes! I alternate this workout with Jillian's Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism DVD 6 days a week, and I lost 5 pounds in less than 2 weeks without drastically changing my diet! This one's a keeper! - posted by Patrice on 7/4/2010
I love it!
I've mostly done Level 1 and am already seeing results. I've slimmed down in the thighs and contribute that to doing this workout. I've now done both levels together a few times and think that makes a great workout. If someone loves traditional yoga, this may not be the workout for you. Jillian talks "coaches" you through the entire workout. If Jillian were to put out another DVD similar to this, I'd buy it! - posted by Lisa on 6/11/2010
Yes to this one.
I do several of J.M.'s videos at least 5 x's per week bc I see a difference. I had to do this one a couple of times to start to like it. The more I do it the more I see a difference. She is easy to follow and none of that heavy yoga - mind stuff. Level 1 & 2 are both a challenge. I did Level 2 one time so far and decided that I will master Level 1 first. She is always never boring and I like the workout w/her two "best buds." - posted by Wendy on 6/10/2010
Strong yoga workout
I enjoyed the workout...! - posted by Dawn on 6/10/2010
enjoy this dvd
I have all of Jillian's DVD's, and I tried this one for the first time this morning. I tried session one and really enjoyed it. It was a great start to my day, and tomorrow, I plan on doing session 2. This DVD doesn't have alot of the normal Yoga movements, but it is a fun DVD. I would recommend this DVD to try, and I think that you may enjoy Jillian's unique way of doing this video. It is fun :) - posted by Cinde on 6/8/2010

Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
