Certified instructor description: Four body-part-focused segments that combine classic toning with Pilates and functional fitness. It's all designed to fight the aging process as it strengthens your body to make everyday activities easier (and safer). Each segment targets just one muscle group: upper body, legs, abs or buttocks. You can choose a specific "trouble spot," or do the entire program for a comprehensive, total-body toner. As always, Kathy's cuing is clear and detailed (e.g. "see how we engage the abdominals to protect the lower back"). She also includes modifications and level options (e.g. lighter weights, smaller movements). Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2011. DVD has: Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Kathy Smith's Ageless Staying Strong

You'll be surprised - it WORKS
I wasn't sure about this - thought it might be easy, my great Kathy Smith with title ageless - did that mean easy? No, she delivers again. These are really good workouts and you will feel them with the benefit of short time on the clock. For the core and more. Can't go wrong. Kathy knows how to deliver and she does for those with busy clocks. You will feel like you've been to the gym. - posted by kathy columbus on 4/27/2012
Disappointing
Sorry, but if this is for aging baby boomers it's risky. I have many Kathy Smith workouts that are great, but this is just not for anyone that has any knee or back issues, and the pacing is just too fast. Lots of jumping. May be fine for those with perfect joints. - posted by Ginger on 4/19/2012
Oh what a feeling
I can't believe 15 minutes can make my body feel such a good workout. She really knows how to remind you of the correct form and direction. I'm so glad I picked this DVD to tone my body. I have been using Kathy's workouts every other day and notice the difference. - posted by diane pickens on 4/19/2012
You'll Feel This Surprise!
OK had done Total Body Turnaround and it was very good but a little bit lazy. Bought Staying Strong and it is not lazy! Have been working out for 20+ years and this one still has something new but it IS NOT beginner. If you've been working for a while but want a few notches up this is for you. It is SURPRISING. New moves new muscles. Really an intermediate to advanced and definitely advanced if you are over 65. Kathy, as usual, prompts you beautifully but pace is fast for what you are doing. Be prepared. Buy it - if you are looking for a notch up this is it. You will feel it. This has technique written all over it. - posted by kathy on 4/14/2012
Kathy does it again!
I have several of Kathy's workout videos. I wondered if she would be able to make another one that would be fresh and different, and just as challenging. Well, she has! I love how this video has fresh, new moves that really deliver a quality workout. (I'm 55 and have exercised for many years, including aerobics and weights, in a variety of styles.) - posted by Sharon on 4/9/2012
I love you
I bought this cd a few years ago and am doing the way you teach. Started to love doing it many times a month. Thank you very much and i love you. - posted by Uma on 3/31/2012
Fair is Fair
I liked the strength exercises with the exception that sometimes Kathy Smith's posture was odd at times. Sometimes she seemed to me as if she was waiting to go to the bathroom. At other times she slipped and did not keep her posture erect. There were also times where I felt she talked too much instead of counting in order to keep good form while performing the moves. - posted by Audi on 3/12/2012
Kathy is a five star instructor
Great instructions, great posture cues, a challenging full body work out and stretch in just the right amount of time. - posted by Barrie on 2/16/2012
Tough!
Love it! Kathy, you're the best. (Sometimes I get the feeling all the other videos are just copies of Kathy!) If you add heavier weights where you know you should, this workout is more Inter/Adv. What a great investment. - posted by Caroline on 2/7/2012
Kathy Smith -- you are a beautiful role model!!
I love the video. I also have another one by her, and I rotate them each day. Kathy Smith seems so sweet, and she is in such great shape. She also seems to truly enjoy working out, and it shows. I am 51 years old, and I have used both videos faithfully every day for a month and I can honestly say that you can feel the results within three weeks of doing them. I was in okay shape to begin with, so maybe that is why I was able to do the videos well after only a few weeks, but once you get the moves down, then you can really work them. If Kathy Smith gets tired doing them, then I guess they will always work for me, even after using them for a long time. - posted by Denise on 2/4/2012

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
