Certified instructor description: A total of five workouts two aerobics, a toning, a stretch and an aero/tone interval program. These are older programs originally released on three VHS tapes. “Instant Workout” features three easy-to-schedule 20 to 22-minute programs. You get a total-body toning workout, a higher-impact cardio program and a standing/floor stretch. Nothing fancy, just a series of well-proven exercises. “March to Fitness” is low-impact fat-burning — from simple marches to a multitude of uncomplicated dance steps. It includes lots of movement and music variety (pop, Latin, 60’s, funk; instrumental, light vocals). “Starting Out” begins with an energetic mix of 1980s-style aerobic dance exercises. Then it’s down on the floor for a series of toning routines that also incorporate body awareness techniques. ©1987, 1991, 1993. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions.

Kathy Smith's Shed the Pounds!

Love 3 out of 6 workouts that this contains
The 3 twenty minute short workouts, aerobics, toning and stretching from, I believe the 90's, are why I bought this because I remembered them from back then. And, I still found them just as awesome. She has such a nice 3 min. Meditation time at the end of the stretch! And, the aerobics and toning are not so very outdated, they are still fun and great workouts but the rest I don't do and can't even watch for very long and for this reason I gave only 3 stars for whole dvd. But, if it were JUST the 3 modern 20 min routines, it deffinitely would have gotten 5 stars! Just glad they are still available. - posted by Nicoleen on 5/14/2012
Workin' Out to the Oldies
The workouts here aren't bad they just aren't great. They will have you chatting with your workout buddies about "remember the scrunchy socks, headbands and leg warmers. Some of the "assistants" are almost laughably enthusiastic. Kathy has better workout dvds. - posted by Julie on 2/2/2012
Good workout
The beginning workout is very light and elementary. The remaining two are good cardios. I like to use them when I am more limited on time. - posted by Bob on 1/5/2012
Old but effective
Old but effective, clear, intense, good workouts. - posted by Agustin on 2/17/2011
So happy!
I have been using these tapes VHS for years, they were damaged and I could not replace them. I was thrilled to see that these were the same routines that are now on DVD. Yeah! I love having many different routines to use so I never get bored. Thank you. - posted by Doreen on 2/10/2011
Nice
I use it if I am feeling sore after a tough few days. Loosens off the stiffness and its actually fun. Think its important to have a few fun tapes in the collection that are not expensive. Whether its for beginners or advanced junkies looking for an easier version these compiled tapes have alot to offer all levels. It allows you to pick and choose the parts you really want to do. - posted by luli on 3/13/2008
I really like this workout!
This is a fun workout, with so many options. The 20 min Stretch is well worth the 12.95. - posted by C.M on 1/14/2008
Well worth the price
The cardio portion of the "instant workout" section is different and fun, fun! The toning portion provides a good quick all over body workout, and the stretch portion is fabulous. Really like the March to fitness Section. I'm not crazy about "Starting out" portion, but it has it's merits. All and all it is not the usual fare and a good deal for the price. - posted by Lucy on 1/9/2008
Fun,Fun,Fun
I have so much fun every time I do this workout. The Latin segment on March to Fitness is really fun. After a stressful day the stretch workout feels great. - posted by Emily on 11/16/2007
Great classic workouts
I have two of these workouts on video tape, and those two alone are worth getting this. March to Fitness is a great short walking-type workout with fun music, and the stretch is one of the best I've ever experienced. I'm glad this is out because my tapes are getting worn out. - posted by CB on 7/29/2007

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
