    A walk for every mood |
| I have owned this walking system for I don't even know how many years and I still love it. The first two 30 minute workouts are nice and easy for those days when you're tired or sore or whatever. The second two use aerobic intervals...you pick up the pace for 3 minutes three times, with rest periods in between, for when you're feeling strong and energetic. The last two walks incorporate aerobic and anaerobic intervals for when you're feeling super strong and energetic. I like to run during the anaerobic intervals (they last 1 minute). So there's a workout for every day depending on how I'm feeling. Each workout warms you up and cools you down too. I've listened to them so many times that I don't even notice Kathy talking anymore. She tends to be a little on the talkative side, but gives good tips on form. I also love that the workouts are 30 minutes in length. A must have for any walker. - posted by Barb on 8/31/2010 |

| I haven't bought any walking cds before-where has this been hiding? I got this because I needed some low impact cardio, but I had gotten bored with Leslie Sansone. Using this Kathy Smith system is infinitely better, easier on your body. Also, you will get results with firming up and losing weight that you won't get with Leslie Sansone. I spent dozens of hours and hours and hours doing Leslie tapes, but even though they were supposedly low impact, the constant pounding of marching in place does a lot of wear and tear on your knees. It did mine. But I never seemed to lose any weight no matter how long of a tape I did. I just ended up tired. Well, I'm a Kathy audio cd believer now. After using this system six days a week I lost 3 pounds without really trying. And the workouts are only 30 minutes each! There are several reasons why I gave this audio system 5 stars: 1) I lost weight- the cd really delivers on the promise of slimming down-my waist, stomach and butt were slimmer. Not only was I slimmer, but also I was firmer in my butt and thighs which I never got from doing Leslie Sansone videos. 2) Kathy Smith doesn't just throw you out there. She gives you instruction on how to carry your body, how to pace yourself, and how to have proper form. 3) Kathy has a soothing, non irritating voice, and she motivates you with positive thinking and positive imagery. But she doesn't go overboard in the least. She doesn't constantly chatter-she gives you instruction and that lets you go to walk and listen to the music. 4) Speaking of music! It's wonderful. No rehashed hits by a bad cover band. This sounds like original music to me. It's really well done and pleasant to listen to. Also, the music is not repetitive- it varies in style and pace. I never got bored listening to these cds. 5) The previous reviewer remarked how the pace varies back and forth on this set, and she's right-that makes a huge difference. When a walking cd is constantly at one pace like many of them are, it gets boring and almost robotic-like. Believe me, this one is not boring. It's fun. - posted by Stacey on 12/28/2008 |
