Certified instructor description: Two well-structured programs for anyone who's just starting to work out or who “fell off the fitness wagon.” Kelly combines easy-to-follow exercises with lots of intensity options and sincere encouragement (“just 30 minutes, you can do this”). The first program begins with a varied mix of athletic-style cardio favorites (always offering a “base” move if you get tired or distracted). That's followed by an aero/tone segment that builds muscle as it burns fat. The toning workout features alternating sets of proven body-sculpting classics (e.g. curls, lunges, push-ups). It starts with standing routines and ends with floorwork. Requires 2 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2011. DVD has: Has 7 premixes (14 to 23 min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus.

Kelly Coffey's 30 Min. to Fitness: Start Here

Love this!
This is only the seconded Kelly DVD I've gotten and I like it a lot. The first one I got was Plateau Buster. Not because I hit a plateau but because I liked the looks of the workout on the clip. I love the premixes and will definitely get more Kelly DVDs! - posted by VSgirl on 4/11/2013

I have several of Kelly's videos but this one just didn't do it for me I couldn't get into it. - posted by Deb on 4/6/2013
Fabulous workout
I am 64 years old and wanted a workout that was somewhat more than Jane Fonda workouts for which I find boring! This is a great challenge and I love the pre-mixes. I can mix it up from one night to the other. Kelly will become my new workout teacher. This can start out small and built up from 2 lb. weights to 5 lbs. Love it! - posted by Becky on 4/2/2013
Fast & furious
I bought "Start Here" with the hopes that it would be a basic plan that would lead me from inactivity to fitness. Some other, more senior programs have been too easy for me. The 'Start Here" program would probably be better described as advanced beginner to intermediate. Movements are very quick, and there are a lot of fast-paced squats required - a problem for those with knee issues. Having said that, I will keep at it, because Kelly does great cueing, and the exercises - aside from the squats and lunges - may get easier after time. Her personality is great, and she is encouraging throughout. - posted by Erin on 3/25/2013
Enjoyable work-out
As an experienced exerciser I was pleasantly surprised by the aerobics section of this workout. There were several moves new to me, and it was invigorating to do something different. My heart rate definitely got up and I enjoyed the new moves. The sculpting section had a few too many lunges and squats for my taste (knee issues), but I substituted and did some abdominals. Would have liked to see more of those. I have many workout DVDs and tapes, and Kelly is definitely one of the best instructors. Good cuing, a friendly, encouraging attitude, without a lot of superfluous chitchat. I like her very much, and will check out some of her other DVDs. I think I will use this workout often, especially the aerobic part. - posted by Willemina on 3/23/2013
VERY GOOD WORKOUT
I have only been working out for a few months. My goal is to loose weight and tone as I go. I really like this workout. Kelly has a great personality. She is very easy to follow. She lets you know ahead of time what the next move is gonna be. Her words are very encouraging. I would recommend this video to anyone who wants a toning workout that's easy enough but yet hard enough to get a great workout in. I am drenched in sweat when I am done and that is what I love!! - posted by PENNY on 3/21/2013
i love Start Here!
this is such a great exercise dvd! i had to lay off exercising for over 6 months due to injuries... and when i wanted to get back in shape, i decided to try Kelly's Start Here. i absolutely love it! it was perfect on my first days of exercising - not too difficult and i was not constantly worried about re-injuring myself. all the moves feel very safe and i have been slowly ramping up my intensity level while doing this video. i'm feeling great and feeling stronger every day! Kelly is my new hero! haha. she's fun and cues the moves well. i like to do the warm up, the cardio section, and the weight section all on the same day. makes for a great workout! can't wait to try out more of her videos! - posted by Ariel on 2/12/2013
Get fit in just 30 minutes a day.
I love this video. It really fits into my schedule, almost anyone can find 30 minutes. This work out does it all. I will be buying a second video Kelly Coffey-Meyer. - posted by Sheryl on 2/8/2013
Great starter workout!!
Love it! I haven't worked out in awhile so this is perfect to get me started! Not too hard but not too easy! - posted by Patricia on 2/7/2013
Hooked on Kelly!!!
I've been exercising for several years to DVDs at home, but this is my very first Kelly Coffey-Meyer DVD. Loved it the very first time I did it!!! I am hooked on both the cardio and the strength workouts!! Kelly's instructions are excellent and well-cued. The routines are fun and include interesting moves that I had never done before. I will definitely be building a Kelly Coffey- Meyer library!!! - posted by Sheri on 1/25/2013

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
