Certified instructor description: Near-aerobic-speed standing moves plus challenging floorwork. Expertly cued by Kelly Coffey-Meyer, it features energizing, faster-than-usual music, and very smooth transitions. The first section intermixes upper-body dumbbell exercises and bench-enhanced lower-body toning (e.g. squats off one end of the step, done at a heart-rate-raising pace). The second segment is also fast-moving — weight-room-style floorwork, usually lying on the bench to improve body position. Both parts maximize effectiveness by alternating upper and lower-body exercises within a multi-set structure (e.g. three fast-moving back exercises, then three fast-moving leg/thigh routines). DVD has pre-programmed shorter options. Requires two sets of dumbbells and a step. ©2006. Formerly titled "A New You Coming". DVD has: 4 premixes (28 to 38-min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus.

Kelly Coffey's NYC Body Sculpting Workout

Not her best
I love almost all Kelly's workouts (you should definitely try her 30 min to fitness series), but this is a let down. This workout has poor cuing in many parts and, since it involves complex moves, is really hard to follow. Also, I consider myself and interm/adv exerciser and I didn't feel challenged by this. At the end of the I felt like I didn't get a good workout. My guess is that this is one of Kelly's early videos and that she was still learning. - posted by Sofi on 3/2/2012
Great Workout!
I love all Kelly Coffey-Meyer strength training dvds and this one did not disappoint. I have five of them now and they are all my favorites as each one has different moves and works the muscles in multiple but distinctly different ways. She uses heavier weights for a serious no nonsense workout. You will really feel this one. I love that she has premixes so that you can get a total body workout in less time. I strength train three times a week and generally use 12, 10, and 8 pound weights whereas she uses 15, 12, and 10. I can see a difference and know this is working. - posted by Donna on 12/13/2011
STILL A FAVORITE!
I have had this workout since it came out. Love it! I'm always sore the next day especially in my triceps. Kelly is no nonsense yet not too intense, cues are spot on and I love the multi muscle moves as well. The ab work is great. Just a great all around workout that stays in my regular rotation. I wish Kelly would come out with more TOTAL BODY advanced sculpting workouts as most of her newer ones are split sessions, or upper body and abs, or only lower body. I prefer total body with some isolation and some multi muscle moves and get it all in in one workout. This one is great. Get it! - posted by J.G. on 11/4/2011
It is great
I love her dvds. Even though she has many repetitions, they are not boring. I love her abs routine. - posted by Olivia on 6/30/2011
fun dvd
I like this weight workout I use pretty heavy weight and get great results. I love the different moves that kelly dose in this dvd. I feel the workout the next day. kelly always has great stuff. - posted by kara on 6/9/2011
Total Body Workout
This workout has cool music and effective lifting techniques. Fun to do and Kelly always keeps you motivated. Not very hard or challenging enough for me, but overall was a great total body circuit to add to my workouts. I only gave it three stars cause i was hoping it would be harder and was alittle disappointed. No real ab routine was included either. I still love Kelly's workouts! Her kickboxing one is awesome!!! - posted by Jennifer on 2/10/2011
Great Workout
All in all I really enjoyed this workout. She has some interesting moves I have never seen or done before. This workout is heavy on the Upper Body Toning, so if you want a lot of Lower Body toning this is probably not the best choice. I have added it to my rotation and look forward to doing it again and I will definitely try more workouts by her. Thanks Kelly. - posted by Niiki on 1/20/2011
so-so
I might have given this five stars back when it first came out but now, well, it's easy for me to see Ms. Coffey has greatly improved with her newer workouts. In this one, her cueing is a bit off and I didn't care much for the "chicken-wing" arm movements. The triceps certainly are massacred here though. - posted by Susan W. on 1/2/2011
In My Top 5 Favorites..A Great Total Body Workout
In about 50 minutes, you get a complete total body workout. I especially like the leg toning exercises. You just use the step or your body weight. Transitions are smooth and the time flies by. You can easily modify the difficulty level by increasing weight loads. Awesome! - posted by Diane on 8/21/2010
Another winner from Kelly!
Kelly is one of my favorite no-nonsense instructors. She never does anything cute and dancy, so don't expect that from her. She's an athletic-style instructor and she has a Jersey/Philadelphia accent, and she will give you a solid workout every time, especially if you increase the weights when you're ready and give it your all. I didn't find the cardio in this to be tough enough - it was mostly toning for me, but that's fine. You alternate between upper and lower body, which is good for your heart rate, your body, and your overall interest level. I love how she uses the step and the weights for doing leg and lower body work. I also like how she breaks up the sets and then goes back and repeats the main set of exercises. Keeps it interesting. I feel this in my legs and my butt today. It was really a fun workout, especially for muscle-toning DVD. Not boring at all. - posted by Jody on 4/15/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
