Time graph for KettleWorx with Ryan Shanahan
A creatively sequenced series of progressively-more-challenging workouts. You’ll start with Level 1 and gradually advance to Level 6 over a six-week period (burning calories and building strength as you go). It has 18 primary workouts: six resistance, six cardio and six core. “Resistance” shapes your entire body with a huge variety of kettlebell-specific body-sculptors. “Cardio” features aero/tone intervals — an alternating mix of kettlebell toning and mixed-impact, non-kettlebell aerobics (e.g. jumping jacks, squat thrusts). “Core” combines traditional core exercises with innovative variations. You also get six additional “express” programs done at three levels. “Fast Abs” features extended corework, while “Fast Fat Burn” blends the cardio and toning. Everything is exceptionally well-produced and well-edited (often using the same video footage in multiple workouts). Expertly led by Ryan Shanahan. This is a 6-DVD set that has the 24 complete workouts plus a Kettleworx tutorial program. The set also includes an "e-book" -- a computer CD with 64 pages of diet and workout info you can print out. Workouts require a 5 to 15 lb. kettlebell. ©2008. DVD has: Wide screen.

I want more !
I've completed 3 six week cycles of the KettleWorx DVDs and I have lost over 30 pounds. Does Kettleworx or instructor Ryan Shanahan have other workout DVDs ? Because I'm ready for more! - posted by Heather on 2/20/2010
Body by Jake
I'm a personal trainer and I have tried every workout dvd. If you make the full 6 week comitment , KettleWorx will get you in shape in the comfort of your home. I also like Amy Dixon DVDs too. - posted by Jake on 12/17/2009
I got tricked.
I got fooled by the infomercial. Poor quality instruction on the DVD, does the instructor know what he's doing? The clips are constantly reused and the workouts are not challenging.. Truly disappointed with what I got. I would recommend that everyone saves their money and get a better product. I personally will not purchase anything else from this instructor. - posted by Steph on 12/10/2009
We Love it
Yahoo!! - LOVING the Kettleworx program! Three years ago we moved to cottage country - full time - and the only thing we missed was 'our' gym. So we went about building 'our gym' in our house. The elliptical and recumbent are covered in dust. We are busy with work and other activities and have always had fitness as part of our life -- but that has not been enough motivation to use the machines. Can you say BORING? We have just completed our first kettleworx week - we love it! ! - posted by Jane on 12/7/2009
Where's the instruction?
Where is it? It is seriously lacking in the DVD set, in fact the instructors form is also poor. The clips are constantly re-used and much of it is almost unbearable to watch. I would not recommend this DVD to anyone. - posted by Gloria on 12/4/2009
I am very happy with the 1st weeks results
I just recently purchased the kettleworx basic program. Last week was my 1st week working with the program. Wow!! It was indeed a workout!! When I did the 1st routine for cardio....I found out how fast a 52 year old woman can become out of shape. I had to take a few breaks in the 1st video. However, I continued with the 1st core workout on Wednesday and the 1st resistance program on Friday. I must agree with other testimonials that you FEEL very different just after that 1st week.....and remember I had trouble getting through the 1st cardio tape. Wow!! I believe I can feel myself slimming down already. I know this sounds bogus....but the kettlebells really are a different workout. Twenty minutes is not that long and you know it is working. You feel the muscles that you have just worked the next day. I am very happy with the 1st weeks results!! - posted by Cindy on 12/4/2009
Update on Prior Review
I did the whole six week rotation and had great results. I recommended this set here on Collage and to several friends. And, since Ryan introduced me to kettlebell workouts I am in his debt. HOWEVER, since Kettleworx I have tried several other kettlebell dvds and I must admit that Kettleworx is about the worst of the bunch. Much to my surprise, the 10 minute solutions kettlebell workout is great! I think that most people would be better off with 10 Minute Solutions, Amy Bento, or the Angie Miller Kettlebell Bootcamp dvds. Kettlebells are a phenomenal tool, and if Kettleworx gets people hooked then that's great! Kudos to Ryan Shanahan to bringing kettlebells to the mass market. But, the reused clips gets boring and he doesn't explain the exercises well enough to justify the price. Perhaps the reason I was so happy initially is because it was a gift? I still think that this set is okay, but for the money you could get a few other workouts that will do a better job and have more longevity. - posted by Ruth on 11/10/2009
Unhappy
Bought it for my mom for her birthday. She did not like it one bit, the instructor is unbearable. I would not recommend giving this as a gift to anyone, big mistake. - posted by John W. on 11/2/2009
Fun Fitness
My Mom does the Kettleworx DVDs and she is now very healthy. My friends and I started doing the workouts after school and we have fun using kettlebells , we also think the instructor is cute Yay kettleworx ! - posted by Jade on 10/28/2009
Liked it!
This was better than I thought it would be! I mostly used my 10lb kettlebell and sometimes a 5lb for lateral raises and tricep kickbacks. The 20 min went by really fast-. I really enjoyed a faster pace and cardio using the kettlebell- that is why they use a light one! I still used my 10lb mostly. - posted by Kathryn on 10/22/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
