Certified instructor description: Four complete aero/tone interval workouts designed by the creator of the original Firm videos. Like the 1980/1990 Firms, you get endless variety and an ornate “mansion set.” The moves include lots of ultra-effective, aerobics-with-dumbbell-toning (both as blends and as intervals) plus some Pilates and yoga. This four DVD-set is structured as two complementary cross-training workout pairs. “Strong Bear” and “Fast Cheetah” are classic aero/tone workouts. “Strong Bear” is the most challenging of the entire set. Your heart rate stays elevated during the first half, while the second-half toning is totally non-stop. “Fast Cheetah” is the complementary opposite — it’s primarily fast-paced cardio exercises (both low and mixed-impact cardio). Note: both of these programs are different productions than Anna’s earlier videos with the same names. The final two workouts are body-sculpting focused. “Crunch Time” is extra-tough; it features a medley of Firm-style standing toning and four-limb aero/tone routines. It has lots of varied exercises that smoothly transition to keep you both mentally and physically engaged. “Floor Burn” is all toning and all done on the floor. It’s a blend of Pilates matwork and traditional floorwork (plus some floor yoga moves). Requires two sets of dumbbells and a high step (12-14 inches high). These programs are led by Tamela Hastie, Kimberly Spreen and Keli Roberts (all teaching in the original Firm’s more “serious” cuing style). ©2005. Click here to see the complete 6-DVD “KickButt” set. KickButt 4-DVD Kit

Didn't get my heartrate up
This 4 pack was offered at a special rate, and since there were good reviews I figured I would give it a try. I am intermediate to advanced, low-40's looking to lose weight. I like Kathy Smith, Jari Love- I like some cardio mixed in with weights. I like to feel like I'm sweating- then I feel like I am accomplishing something. None of these dvd's did that for me. I thought some of the moves were awkward. I used to like some of the new Firm video's- but I don't like these- they seemed outdated and stiff. I am going to stick with some of the newer video's coming out. I will return. - posted by Joanne on 10/29/2011
A "Firm" Believer since Firm I
I have been doing Firm tapes and now Kick Butt since the Firm I. I am almost 60 and still love the balance of weights and aerobics. I own almost every Firm and Kick Butt tape. I just got the Kick Butt 4-tape package and loved all the routines. I'm glad the original Firm producers are still producing tapes! No nonsense, complete workouts that can be modified for all fitness levels. Good instruction w/safe moves. - posted by Linda on 5/26/2011
Wish They Were a Little Tougher
I just received this 4 pak and really love it. Only if you factor in the other 2 of the 6 (Push Pull and Steamin Cardio) would I call this intermediate advanced. Crunch Time is the hardest (that was a surprise) Fast Cheetah the only one I'm disappointed in. Cardio should have been longer and harder. As for the Pilates/Yoga blended into each workout, a good idea for me. Always skipping flexibility. - posted by Robin on 5/13/2011
kick butt series
I loved them! definitely a real sweat, they go great with the firm tapes that I have. - posted by nancy on 3/7/2008
THESE ARE GREAT!!!
I bought these four in the 6 video Kickbutt set. These are great and I recommend them for all fitness levels, as they can be modified with weights. They are fun and do a great job combining cardio/yoga/pilates/weights. I think all of the instructors do an excellent job explaining and motivating. Love it! - posted by Heather on 12/10/2007
Fun, effective, favorites
I first had Steamin' Cardio and Push Pull. They were so excellent - fun to do, great music, good instructors, motivating variety of moves. I had to get the complete Kickbutt and Fitprime sets - and am so glad I did. A rotation with these videos is complete total body work for cardio, strength, and flexibility. In between other rotations, I keep coming back to this Kickbutt set - love it! - posted by Margaret on 11/18/2007
Good intermediate workout
I enjoy both the KickButt and the FitPrime. I wouldn't call either set really "advanced" in workouts. Sure, you break a sweat but the heartrate does not stay up for long. The upper body video has too many pushups and the lower body one is not tough enough. Other than that these will work you out without wiping you out. - posted by Heidi on 9/3/2007

Disappointment
I have been doing the Firm workouts for the last twelve years, and was excited to hear these were produced by the same lady. However, I really was really disappointed. The so called cardio is just moving around, I really had to add movement to try to get my heart rate up. The yoga is not really yoga, it is stretching. Some of the cueing is lacking, and it is difficult to tell which side you are supposed to be using on some exercises. These workouts would be o.k. for an easy day, but not a day that you feel like getting your heart rate up and doing some real work. - posted by Tracy on 3/1/2007
For All The FitPrime & KickButt DVDs
This review is for all of the 6 FitPrime & 6 KickButt videos from the Womens Health & Fitness Network. I only own 3 of the FitPrimes and 3 of the ones under the KickButt category. They're all from the WHFN and are designed by the Firm creators. You can only get them in bundles. In my opinion, these videos are outstanding. They're all similar in that they fuse together yoga, Pilates, cardio and functional fitness/strength training. Yet, they're all different from each other due to the varying amounts of each type of exercise, lengths of the videos and specific moves. I've never come across any WHFN video that I didn't like and I'm pretty darn picky and seriously research fitness videos for days on end before I purchase them. I favor intermediate/advanced workouts and incorporate functional fitness, regular strength training, lots of cardio and restorative exercises into my fitness regimen and I exercise about 6 days a week. I've found that these are terrific videos and the instructors are raved about by those who've tried these videos and there are many fans out there, despite the fact that these videos must be purchased in bundles. The most common compliments given are the set design, music (really great music thats synchronized with the exercises), the sound quality, picture quality, instructors and wide variation of moves in each video. The only thing that I had to get used to was the fact that each workout DOES require numerous tools, but household items can be substituted. I highly suggest that one orders The Firms 14" Firm step box/Transfirmer box. These are some of the best workouts I've ever tried and each has a video that compliments it. Do your research if you must, but I doubt you'll find a bad review anywhere. Also, note that the KickButt series is geared towards those under 35 who don't mind a lot of cardio and intensity and the FitPrime is geared towards those who are 35 and up or those who don't want to collapse after working out, but definitely want a good workout that incorporates functional strength training. - posted by L. Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
