Certified instructor description: From the creator of the original Firm videos, you get six complete aero/tone interval workouts. Like the 1980/1990 Firms, you get endless variety and an ornate “mansion set.” The moves include lots of ultra-effective, aerobics-blended-with-dumbbell-toning (both as blends and as intervals) plus some Pilates and yoga. This six DVD-set is structured as three complementary cross-training workout pairs. The “base” pair is “Push Pull” and “Steamin’ Cardio. “Push Pull” has a body-sculpting focus with a few short, low-impact cardio segments. It works multiple muscle groups in both contraction and elongation with a fast pace and very fluid transitions. “Steamin’ Cardio” has a definite aerobic emphasis. It’s a non-stop fat-burner using everything from kickboxing and bootcamp to tall-step and “four limb” moves (it also includes a few short toning segments). The second complementary pair is “Strong Bear” and “Fast Cheetah.” “Strong Bear” is the most challenging of the entire set. Your heart rate stays elevated during the first half, while the second-half toning is non-stop. “Fast Cheetah” is the complementary opposite — it’s primarily fast-paced cardio exercises (both low and mixed-impact cardio). Note: both of these programs are different productions than Anna’s earlier videos with the same names. The final two workouts are body-sculpting focused. “Crunch Time” is extra-tough; it features a medley of Firm-style standing toning and four-limb aero/tone routines. It has lots of varied exercises that smoothly transition to keep you both mentally and physically engaged. “Floor Burn” is all toning and all done on the floor. It’s a blend of Pilates matwork and traditional floorwork (plus some floor yoga moves). Note: this KickButt series is slightly more intense than Anna’s similar “FitPrime” programs. Requires two sets of dumbbells and a high step (12-14 inches high). These programs are led by Heidi Tanner, Tamela Hastie, Kimberly Spreen and Keli Roberts (all teaching in the original Firm’s more “serious” cuing style). ©2005. KickButt complete 6-DVD Kit

Love the set
I love these six videos. If you're considering the four-part set, you should spend the extra few bucks and get the six-part set. These videos are the closest to the original Firms as they've made recently. These are better than the new Firms because the cuing is excellent, the music is great and goes along with the exercises perfectly, and the instructors are top-notch. The two videos in the six-part set that arent' in the four-part set are very good, especially "Crunch Time." It packs a great total body workout in 40 minutes. I really love "Floor Burn" despite its one flaw -- which is unusual in an Anna Benson video -- that one set uses a yoga block on one side but not the other. Usually the sets match better. Another issue I have is that the equipment lists on the covers don't mention yoga blocks. I wouldn't buy these, though, because a big dictionary or phone book would work, since the blocks are just for attaining body posture, not for support. I've used these six videos for over a month and have better muscle tone and feel great. - posted by Lilly on 7/20/2008
Good, but not advanced enough
I have to say that I really did like these workouts. I probably would have liked them more if I was a beginner. I enjoyed the music and all the instructors, however, being someone who works out 5-6 days a week and is trying to lose weight, these DVD'S just did not get my heart rate up where I wanted it or needed it to be. If you are someone starting out or are not someone who really needs the "burn" and does not needs to burn the calories, then these are for you! - posted by Pam on 2/27/2008
THESE ARE SOOOOO GOOD!!!
I just can't say enough about all six of these videos. With weights, these can be modified for most fitness levels. All six (in this set) are a great combination of all the elements... and blend cardio, yoga, pilates and weights...in a way that makes it challenging and fun. No it is not the old pastel colored mansion (tears welling up here) ...it is darker, bolder and more synthesized and (for better or for worse) modern...but I think if I squint really hard during the weight segments...I can almost see Susan Harris walking through the door. (tee hee) If you did these six videos M-Sat...you would see serious results in a month. :) Go and Kick some aging butt! - posted by Heather on 12/10/2007
Ana Benson Kicks Butt !!!
I love it!!! Love it!!! Love it!!! You will absolutely want to do every single video. The routine delivers results, the music is fantastic, the cuing is superb, and the instructors are pleasant. It does not matter what your fitness level is, if you want a GREAT body, get ALL six videos. Ana Benson Kicks Butt one more time! - posted by Gaby8a on 11/17/2007
Great set!
Whenever I start to lose my exercise motivation or don't know what rotation to do next - these are the workouts I do. They're that much fun. There's a good balance of familiar moves and unique moves, terrific music synchronization, and excellent instructors. And with the variety of having toning, cardio, stretching, etc., they're always interesting to do. - posted by Margaret on 11/16/2007
Excellent
I have 4 out of the six dvd's here- Fast cheetah, Strong Bear, Push-Pull, and Steamin Cardio. Steamin Cardio and Strong Bear seem to be the hardest out of these to me. I really like them all though! Beautiful set, cool music, very professional and safe instruction. They use proven movements and techniques. I am used to the terminology and the exercises because of all the firm workouts I have. They seem to almost be a little more concentrated and safer in the movements and queing. - posted by Tracy on 5/10/2007

Don't waste your money
If you are expected a good workout, like with the old firm exercises, this is not it. - posted by Tracy on 3/1/2007
KickButt 6-DVD Set
These workouts are very hard, but I enjoyed them. Even though I'm used to doing High Step aerobics, after doing the first rotation, I could barely walk. - posted by Amber on 2/13/2007
Great results
I am doing the old firm 90 day rotation but subbing these for the tortoise and the hare workouts and using debbie Rockers for Cardio and jari/cathe for classics and strentgth. I cannot believe the results I am just starting wk 5 and I have lost alittle more than 2 inches off every part of my body and lost 7 lbs and I didn't change my eating habits much. (I never eat right I am a junk eater) I cannot believe how much of a diffenece and I look forward to working out. Great set. - posted by deborah on 1/30/2007
Great If You Miss the Old FIRM
These DVDs are great if you like the feel and approach of the Original Firm videoes. The workout is serious, the music is varied and the set is interesting. These are a little easier than the original Firm, but do not sacrifice results. I have both the KickButt and the FitPrime sets and they are great. Highly recommended. I also like to add some straight cardio - like Leslie Sansone. - posted by Kathy on 1/18/2007

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
