Certified instructor description: It blends the moves and grace of classic ballet with familiar fitness-style music and cuing. It’s totally focused on long, shapely legs — even the fat-burning aerobic segments tone your thighs and calves. Pliés, relevés, piques and chassés - the movements and terminology are all ballet-inspired. But, Leisa makes it easy-to-follow by introducing new moves at half-tempo and using straight-forward cuing (e.g. “now keep your heels together here”). Lots of optional turns and hops for added intensity and interest. The toning section is all standing “barrework.” A ballet barre or sturdy chair is required. Note: To maintain the "sexy" theme, Leisa wears fancy dress shoes ("character shoes") but she suggests you wear regular fitness footwear. DVD includes a 16-minute “bonus” workout; it also has a music-only option (no cuing). ©2005. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option.

Leisa Hart's Sexy Legs

really helped me tone my hips and thighs
I was ready to lose some post prego weight and was already starting to do so when I tried Leisa Hart's Sexy Series dvds, and I was sooooooooo happy I did. I firmed up my body and the Sexy Legs was a great program for me, it was fun, reminded me of my ballet days, I wasn't engrossed w comparing it to my professional dancing days, I was pleased it was fun, safe, and helped me tone my inner thighs and hips. You should try this video, it was a pleasant surprise. - posted by Dana on 10/7/2009
Fun Ballet Cardio
I'm not one to get put off by form as I've been a home exerciser for many years. And, I'm not a professional ballerina. I just love the workout because the cardio makes me feel graceful and is so much fun. - posted by Elaine on 1/19/2009
good cardio
I would also defiitely recommend this video to someone who is an intermediate exerciser. It gets your heart rate up and works your lower body. It is a different routine, and Hart may not be a NY trained ballerinist, but she is good enough to where it did not bug me at all. She is athletic and fit, I think some reviewers were being overly harsh with the form of the talent. I didnt expect a ballet training video, I got what i expected, a very good cardio workout. This is a workout you will enjoy if you are not overly charged about ballet. - posted by Kim on 11/15/2008
Beyond Horrible
I'm in total agreement with the ealier poster, in that I wish I could give this workout ZERO stars. Leisa's form on this is HORRIBLE, as is the form of several of the other background exercisers. Not 'dangerous' horrible, but she simply doesn't move like a dancer in posture or placement of the moves. One background exerciser appears to have had some training, but she just makes everyone else look that much worse. Seriously, this workout has no redeemining qualities...except maybe I burned a couple of calories putting in and taking it out of the dvd player? If you want a fun ballet-style workout Collage offers any number of better options (Jennifer Kries, Bernadette Georgi, Balletone, etc). This one is just plain bad. - posted by GymRatt on 10/11/2008
My least favorite
I disliked this very much. I love ballet, and have all the other ballet and barre dvds Collage carries (except the "attitude" ones): I recommend ANY of those in place of this one. This was "good cardio" but the form was very, very, very bad. Only one background dancer had good form. If you love ballet and are remotely aware of the importance of form, you will need to find something else. This does NOT look or feel like ballet. If all you want to do is hop around and get sweaty, this might work. I wish I could give it zero stars. - posted by Laura on 9/14/2008
sooo SEXY, sooo FUN
this is just a FUN, cool fitness workout. Leisa Hart is a doll, she is so fit, she's awesome. I loved the dance routines and felt so sexy doing the workout, not cheesy, very real, very fun. My dear hubbie loves my bubbly energy, and Leisa Harts SEXY dvds(i loved the Sexy Buns and Sexy Arms dvds, oh and Sexy Abs was so different, it was great!). - posted by Kelly on 5/28/2008
love it
I love this workout. I am advanced but this dvd has me sweating a lot! It is a very effective combination of fast-paced aerobic ballet-style moves with unique and tough toning - in a nice elegant style. Leisa Hart's presentation is very friendly and please don't be a dance snob and be put off by the shoes - half the time I do the workout barefoot but I see nothing wrong with doing a dance based workout in character shoes. Very fun and I'm getting excellent results in slimming down my legs that tend to bulk from other kinds of workouts. - posted by Ali on 4/6/2008
Good Workout
I would recommend this video to an intermediate exerciser. It definitely gets your heart rate up and works your legs and is very fun. It is unique. The only thing is she is pretty fast so it takes a few times to actually get her sequences, but it is nice to be challenged. - posted by Lori on 1/30/2008
ballet moves that work!!!, FUN!!!
i would not have thunk it, but this workout was very smooth, very well produced, and was fun. i didnt expect the moves to be so easy to follow since i was a clutz in ballet when i was young, but this was so well put together, it waw ideal for my body and i love the way it is graceful and professional, not a candybox type of workout that is old fashioned leg moves, this is new age beauty and was very good - posted by kelly on 1/12/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
