Time graph for Leslie Sansone: 5K with a Twist
An in-home walking workout that features two-minute, higher-intensity “power bursts.” The bursts include moves like jogging, kicking and skipping — higher-impact versions of the basic steps you already know. The bursts are designed to maximize fat burning effectiveness while helping to simulate the feel of an actual 5K outdoor race (about 3.1 miles). Leslie also boosts the intensity of her usual low-impact walking steps by using faster music and incorporating lots of arm motions. Throughout the workout, you’ll be motivated by Leslie’s chatty commentary and an on-screen countdown timer. ©2009. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option.

Leslie Sansone: 5K with a Twist

Great Addition to my Leslie collection
I have several Leslie DVD's and agree that a few of the series are repetitive in their music, cast and feel; but I didn't feel that way about this one. I liked the music in this one and also the reverse counter - that's not in many of her DVD's and for me it's a great motivator! I thought mile 2 went by so very fast, and mile 3 had a different variety of steps. I didn't miss the cast - I can go either way with that and like that sometimes she is on her own. I also like that you can modify the boosts and not go up to high impact if you don't want to. I have knee issues now and cannot jog, but it's still easy to raise my heart rate with pumping arms and kicking higher while she is "boosting". Works for me! - posted by Teresa on 12/29/2009
Solo Leslie
While I agree that it's a rip-off to continue to use the same music and same steps and put out "new" DVDS, I have to say that I am in the camp that prefers Leslie alone. As another person said, she gets distracted when she's with a group. She still manages to be chatty by herself, but at least she's focused. - posted by Kay on 12/11/2009
Prefer One-on-One Options
Unlike others, I actually enjoy having DVDs with just Leslie. With some DVDs featuring her regulars, she gets chatty and distracted. You can get down to business when it is just her. And, yes, the moves and the music are basically the same. But, if you have used her videos in the past, you should be prepared for that. She does change things on each one but the foundation remains the same. For me, it makes it easier on those days when I want to just get the exercise done but I don't want to have to think too hard about the moves. I love the "boosted" walking segments and think that have helped me to move the scale in the right direction. - posted by Tina on 10/9/2009
Miss the other walkers
I don't enjoy the most recent DVD's Leslie has been releasing. It's really boring having only Leslie leading the exercises. I don't understand why she's doing this. Most exercise DVD's have teams of people - and this is for a reason - really not interesting with only one person leading them. I won't purchase any more of Leslie's DVD's that have her solo - and it seems she's coming out with just about only solo ones. What is it? It can't cost that much more to have a few other folks walking - and I'd think she could afford it with all the DVD's she's putting out these days. - posted by Karen on 9/19/2009
What's happening Leslie?
Wow, I love Leslie with her usual group of walkers, Linda, Johanne, Mary-Kay, Marie, what happened this time. I found this dvd so so boring....One, because Leslie is alone and the energy from the other walkers is not there. Secondy, PLEASE Leslie, change the location of your workouts...Most of them are in a dark studio, theres nothing around..so depressing...Please do new dvds with your walkers on a beach or outside somewhere nice and also could you please do an exercise dvd with let's say 1 minute of speed walking and then followed by a 2 minutes of jogging for 30 minutes. To me, that would be the perfect workout.I will buy all of them if you do this because I still love you and your walking-jogging workouts. Lola - posted by Lola on 9/8/2009
B-O-R-I-N-G
Leslie needs to either hang up her walking shoes or get some new moves, and new dialogue. I've sold all her workouts after 2003 - this is the next one to go and I won't buy any more until I can see a clip from one that doesn't look like a rerun. I find her older workouts from the 90's have a few more interesting and different moves, and they are not Hollywood 'productions'. They're more laid back, informal and her constant chatter isn't as annoying as it's become in the last few years. So if you still have a VHS player and can find some of her vintage tapes - try them. They're amaturish but alot more fun. - posted by Cassidy on 9/2/2009
Good walk to burn your way through!
Love this walk!!! I bump it up with weights and a weight belt oftentimes. Who gives a rip about camera angles and whatnot? The music is great, the energy is infectious and Leslie is Leslie. What else is there to say? - posted by Carol on 8/18/2009
Fun and Fast Walk
Leslie always delivers and this one is no exception. This is a fun work out and it goes by so fast. The production quality is not up to her usual standards but in this case, it just doesn't matter. Great music, great workout. If you are looking for a way of exercising that will get you results without pushing you to the limit, you will find that with Leslie's DVDs. - posted by Janine on 8/16/2009
Love the walk!
Why so much hatred for this workout? I don't get it. It's a fun walk that is easy to up the intensity by doing jogs instead of marches. Leslie is just like an old friend and I always love getting up in the morning and walking along with her! - posted by Marianne on 8/16/2009
Drives Me Nuts
The camera work coming up from the floor is just awful, and the images jump around from shot to shot. The music is the same stuff I've already got, and so are the moves. I do like Morning Mile by herself, with the emphasis on tummy, legs (and the addition of squats and lunges), and arms (where I do use handweights). So that one is good because it is different. This one is not. Also, if you have 4 fast miles you've got this one already, except 4 fast miles is better. I returned 5k with a Twist. The only twist is the screwed up camera work. - posted by Mary on 8/14/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
