Certified instructor description: An in-home walking workout that features two-minute, higher-intensity “power bursts.” The bursts include moves like jogging, kicking and skipping — higher-impact versions of the basic steps you already know. The bursts are designed to maximize fat burning effectiveness while helping to simulate the feel of an actual 5K outdoor race (about 3.1 miles). Leslie also boosts the intensity of her usual low-impact walking steps by using faster music and incorporating lots of arm motions. Throughout the workout, you’ll be motivated by Leslie’s chatty commentary and an on-screen countdown timer. ©2009. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option.

Leslie Sansone's 5K with a Twist

Thanks for good clean workout videos by Leslie Sansone!!!
I really enjoy this workout video, I have several of Leslie's workout videos and I enjoy them all, I switch up, so that if I need a challenge or I need something a little slower it's all there. Thank You, God Bless You! - posted by Darlene on 2/4/2012
Love it!!
I feel this video uses all the muscle groups and is a great workout. - posted by Kelly on 2/2/2012
Great video
I've been doing Leslie's videos for a number of years now. She has helped me lose over 30 pounds. I like this one because it's three miles long and has the jogging intervals which I love. It's also just Leslie and you which is a nice change. Thanks Leslie! - posted by Kathleen on 1/21/2012
Leslie Sansone 5K with a twist
I love Leslie's workout videos!! They're easy to follow and very effective. At 62 years of age, they're an excellent way to help me keep in shape. And the variety offered in collage videos is great!! As a video becomes too easy, there are so many more to choose from. These videos will keep me forever healthy, strong, and young in body, mind, and spirit!!! - posted by Linda on 11/26/2011
The Best Yet
I have over 20 of Leslie's walk videos and this is my favorite. It has basic walking steps, nothing fancy and I do the boosted walking by just walking faster and kicking higher/faster. It has a wall clock (which I think makes the time go faster!) and although I really like Leslie's lively chatter, I often choose the music only option, as I have played this tape so often that I basically know what she is talking about although she is muted. She really is tops in the market when it comes to aerobic walking tapes. - posted by Jo Anne on 11/10/2011
Flexible, Easy to use
Leslie Sansone's 5K with a twist is perfect for me. I appreciate that Leslie's workout attire is modest, as is the workout routine, so I don't feel uncomfortable about my in-laws walking in on my workout. This is also a great workout for me, since I can workout in the room with my 4 year old and 1 year old while they are busy with their toys/games. I can stop for a moment if I need to attend to the kids and jump right back into the workout without a great deal of confusion. I am also thrilled to find a workout that is simple, but motivating, with decent music and not so overwhelming with difficult moves or choreography. I have found that in my late 30's my joints ache more and I get sore after workouts -- more than I did in my 20s (and before kids). This workout is a better choice for me, so that I can choose 1, 2 or 3 miles, the level of intensity and tailor it all for my needs. This video helps me to keep moving, even if at this season of my life I'm not able to drop everything and do high-intensity workout for hours. I'll be looking into other Sansone videos in the future. - posted by Jenifer on 11/3/2011
A FAVORITE ALONG WITH 4 FAST MILES
This and 4 fast miles are my favorites. Why? Because she has the boosters (jogging) at the end of each mile. That is what I like. This one delivers. I do this one when I am shorter on time. I just love it. I wish Leslie would do a 5 mile that is just fast walking with jogging at the end of EACH mile like this one and 4 Fast Miles. Get this one. It's great! - posted by J.G. on 10/24/2011
Good prep for the real thing
I am 56 and wanted to run a real 5K. This video really helped get me ready for it and I didn't have to worry about training in bad weather! Of course, I eventually had to go outside and really run, but this was a great way to get to that point! - posted by Sue on 10/22/2011
Really Good workout
I have been walking with Leslie Sansone for many, many years now and I needed something new to add to my workout routine. This is a great walk and she has added some variety to it. I will keep buying her dvds and I hope she continues to add some challenging walks in the near future. - posted by Cat on 9/23/2011
My new favorite
I started my Leslie Sansone collection back in the days of VHS... and have to say that this 5k is probably my new favorite. I like the countdown clock, the intensity that makes you sweat and the setting. I'm not sure I enjoy her choice of music -- especially the song with that features the gym teacher whistle. One disadvantage of this workout is the amount of time that it takes to complete... I have to get up a little earlier than I like so that I can complete it before work... but the sustained cardio is probably good for me. - posted by Marsha on 7/29/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
