Certified instructor description: A high-energy program that starts with aerobics and ends with abdominal floorwork. Like all Leslie's workouts, it's easy to follow and fun. But this is a little different — the moves are more varied and the impact/intensity options are higher (so you can really burn some fat). Leslie begins with her usual four basic steps. Then she boosts the tempo and layers in the new variations (e.g. "forward jog with a double twist," "jump rope arms with a hop"). Leslie shows the higher impact options while another exerciser demonstrates the low-impact version. The floorwork has two segments. One features flexion techniques like crunches; the other uses extension moves like "supermans." As always, Leslie is friendly, motivating and cheerful. ©2012. DVD has: Chapter menus, Region 1.

Leslie Sansone's Belly Blasting Walk

Absolute must have!
Such a great "Gateway Video" (as in gateway drug to more exercise). Perfect for all levels. Sometimes I will use it as a warm up before a run or do the full 5mile day with hand weights for a medium intensity session. Leslie Sansone is so positive, friendly, and motivating as is the crew. She has several sayings that have become my mantras in all types of situations. Good to use during bad weather or if motivation is really low. (as a reference, for more intense workout videos, I love Cathe Freidrich's CrossFire & Jeri Love's Get Extremely Ripped 1000 Hardcore) - posted by Marlo on 6/14/2013
Just Walk Belly Blasting Walk...
Love the ab work out whether standing or on floor...great video. - posted by Ginny on 6/13/2013
Great Workout!
I was pleasantly surprised as to just how much I love this workout. I have other Leslie workouts that I sometimes do on "easier" workout days, but purchased this because I liked that it seemed more intense than her typical workouts. I haven't done the toning sections for the belly after the main workout, mostly because I have other abdominal exercises I do on my own daily. This workout is easy to follow, and the intensity has been upped with more jumping and jogging and twisting to work your core. I absolutely love it. I actually mute the entire workout and play my own music while I'm working out, and the workout is still easy to follow even when muted. At the end of the workout I am sweaty and typically that does not happen to me after doing other Leslie workouts. I'm really pleased. - posted by Kaye on 6/12/2013
Fun and Effective
I love this workout! It is fun and I always feel like I am wearing an invisible girdle afterwards. The moves are simple and there is enough intensity to break a good sweat and burn some calories without damaging joints or dealing with the dread factor -- important at 59. Leslie's cuing could be better, but this should not be a surprise if you have used her other workouts. The walker who is supposed to be showing modifications does not do that, so you may have to make up your own if you want to do that. - posted by Debbie on 6/1/2013

Good workout but...
When I saw that Leslie Sansone had a new tape out, I intended on buying it over the weekend. I am a fan of Leslie and I have many of her tapes. The problem that I had with Belly Blaster is that Leslie announced at the beginning that one of the exercisers, I think her name was Briana, would do low impact modifiers during the booster segments. During the tape she did high impact along with everyone else, I think she only did low impact once while the others did boosters. This really bothered me because I love to exercise and I try to work out with tapes or walk outside everyday. However due to an injury that I suffered to my ankle at work, I usually only do low impact. When I do high impact for any length of time, it usually my ankle. If Leslie says at the beginning that one exerciser will do low impact modifications, that's what she should have done, there were at times that the low impact exerciser seem more active and animated during the boosters than the other people, as if doing low impact was beneath her. I love Leslie, but as I said earlier that this really bothered me so I think I'll skip this one. - posted by Janice on 5/27/2013

Another Great Leslie!
I really like this new and improved workout. While Leslie uses her four basic steps, she really tries to add on some new moves...with great results. A quick two miles and a good core workout. Bonus floor options are short but challenging. - posted by Cinthia on 5/20/2013
Another great video
I have most of Leslie's videos and have been extremely happy with all of them. I had to take a little time off from exercising as I had a knee surgery so it was great to get back into with this latest video - the belly blasting walk. I feel it's really helping me to get back into shape! - posted by Sheri on 5/17/2013

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Aerobics & Toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
