Time graph for Leslie Sansone's Walk Away Lbs. Express
You get three progressively more challenging videos and Leslie’s special “stretchy band.” It’s all an aerobics/toning combo designed to both maximize fat-burning and strengthen your upper body. The aerobics are exceptionally easy to follow; anyone can keep up with these basic marches, side steps, small kicks and knee lifts. You’ll start with the “one mile” program and gradually advance to the more intense “three mile” video (it’s not only longer, but it’s also faster-paced with extended arm and leg movements). The stretchy rubber band toning perfectly complements the cardio; Leslie maintains the aerobic tempo as you shape your back, chest and arms with varied resistance exercises (e.g. in front, behind your back). Includes walking and eating guides along with the stretchy band (a long, flat rubber “sheet”). ©2002.

Heads up to Cathe and Firm fans
I usually do the Firm and Cathe and consider myself intermediate. This review is not to criticize Leslie. I admire her sense of mission and I like her personality. This is just to give a heads-up to folks who are comfortable doing Cathe, Amy Bento, etc. that this won't challenge you. The reason I checked it out was because I had seen a review of another Leslie workout that said "I'm a Cathe fan and I thought this would be too easy, but boy was I wrong." So to others who are curious, I wanted to pass along my experience--which is that my heart rate didn't get into the aerobic zone and I didn't break a sweat. But to those who love Leslie, more power to you! Enjoy! (P.S. I thought the production quality and the music were great.) - posted by Barbara U. on 10/15/2009
Review for 3 Mile Walk away the lbs Express
I did the 3 Mile Walk away the lbs Express without the "stretchie band" and added 2.5lb ankle weights on each ankle and 1.5lb wrist weights on each wrist and used 2lb dumb bells in each hand and I was dripping sweat at the 2 Mile marker, so if you like to a challenging walk workout this works! Jogging on the spot when Leslie picks up the walking pace increases cardio. A must have if you enjoy Leslie's walk aerobics. Its great cause you choose between the 2Mile and 3Mile workout without missing a warm up and cool down, enjoyed the high energy of the entire cast and music : ) - posted by Robin : ) on 5/12/2009
Review for 2Mile Walk away the lbs Express
After exercising to Leslie's workouts for the past 8 yrs, I find the "oldies" with the cast, are still the best all around format. I did the workout with the "stretchie band" plus I added 2.5lb ankle weights on each ankle and 1.5 lb wrist weights on each wrist which adds intensity and makes you sweat! Plus jogging while she walks increases cardio. I may even do the workout with 2lb dumbbells in each hand rather than use the stretchie which will create more intensity. Who says a walking workout can not be challenging? You can make it more challenging like I do : ) - posted by Robin : ) on 5/7/2009
3-Mile Express
I only have the 3 mile dvd and I love it. It took me a while to work up to the 3 miles and w/this video you can stop at 1 2 or 3 miles. I really get a good bottom work out with this video she does a lot of the leg curls w/the arms up in the air (you know the move) Hallaluah!! the band is nice as well, good total body work-out. - posted by Jess on 12/1/2008
A Good Leslie Workout
I enjoyed the 1 and 2 mile workouts best. The 3 mile one got a little boring by the end. If you are a Leslie fan then you will really enjoy this. - posted by Christy on 9/26/2008
Review for the 3 Mile Walk
The dvd I have only has the 3 mile walk on it, and it's one of my favorites of Leslie's. I gave 4 stars simpley because I don't have the other 2 dvds. The stretchy band section on the 3 mile walk is fantastic. On other videos I didn't get much use out of it, but this time, whew! Good burning muscles. It was a great feeling toning up with a burn without using weights. Would like to see Leslie use it even more. - posted by Stacey on 6/9/2008
FAVORITE IS 3 MILE ORGINAL
I LOVE LESLIES VIDEOS, YES THERE ARE ALOT MORE VIDEOS THAT HAVE MORE OF A CHALLENGE BUT THESE ARE GREAT. I MUTE THE SOUND AND PLAY MY OWN MUSIC TOO THEM. THIS WORKS TOO GET YOU STARTED. MAKE IT MORE BY ADDING TO IT AS YOU ADVANCE - posted by DIANNA on 3/8/2008
Great for cardio, not so much for toning!
Just tried the 3 mile express. I loved the cardio portion, but was very disappointed with the toning. I thought because it came with the stretch band it would focus on it, but you only spend about 5 minutes using the band. Will use it again for cardio, but will choose something else for toning. - posted by Allison on 10/13/2007

Keep em' Coming Leslie!
These three workouts I think are the best Leslie has ever made. They are so efficient and the stretchy band is so effective at toning muscles that I didn't even know I had. Thanks Leslie! You've done it again! - posted by Emily on 3/19/2007
This is the Best set from Leslie!
I love Leslie and all her workouts but I have to say her Express system is absolutely the best set yet. I love all the routines and I love using the stretchie band too! I recommend this one very much! This is practically the only set I do now! Thanks! - posted by Beth M on 3/14/2006

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
sample time graph
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
