Certified instructor description: Sixty solid minutes -- five "miles" -- of high-energy, indoor walking (for a shorter workout, you can always do fewer miles). Leslie makes fat-burning both easy and fun. The steps are super-basic. They range from kicks, sidesteps and "fast feet" to simple dance moves like cha chas and mambos. The workout is mostly pure cardio, but it also includes ten minutes of resistance band toning intervals within the aerobics (the band increases the fat-burning intensity as it strengthens your upper-body). As always, Leslie keeps you motivated with her playful commentary and enthusiastic attitude ("wow, it feels good to walk today!"). DVD also has a five-minute "Tone It Up" body-sculpting workout. Includes a 6-foot resistance band. ©2010.

Leslie Sansone's Walk It Off & Tone It Up

Motvating
This is a great and fun way to exercise without leaving your house. I have several of Leslie's workout videos that I rotate. Very pleased. - posted by Myrna Gomez on 4/5/2012
Great Workout!!! Awesome music!!
I own five LS videos and this is my favorite because it seems more intense than the other videos and the music is great. In the other (older) videos the workouts are great but the music is sloooow and I get bored. This video keeps you going and is fast. I can only fit in 3 miles (45 min.) a day, but I feel like I get a good, strong workout. I LOVE that you have the aerobic part and the toning of your arms with the band. LOVE LOVE LOVE this video. I mentioned this in a previous review, but I would like to turn down Leslie's voice so I can hear the music, beat, rhythm...at times she is louder than the music : ) But it's all good. I'm looking forward to some new videos from her. I would like to see her keep the basic but add some different fast paced moves to her routine and fast, rockin, hip hop beat music. - posted by Eve on 4/4/2012
Solid Walk Workout
Leslie Sansone has delivered another solid walk aerobics workout. You are treated to 5 miles with just Leslie. The music is pretty much the standard studio fare that has served her well for so many workouts. In this routine she briefly uses resistance bands for 3 of the 5 miles. The bands add a little intensity as well as interest. She also changes up the choreography a bit to vary the routine. Leslie as usual is inspiring and a pleasure to walk with. - posted by Bonnie on 3/27/2012
does the trick!
At age 55 I am not willing to give up advanced Cathe, Jari, Coffey-Meyer workouts but I sometimes need a longer warm up - I'm finding that a 15 minute Sansone Mile before attempting more grueling exercise sessions does the trick nicely! - posted by Susan W. on 3/25/2012
Enjoyable way to Walk Indoors
Effective cardio workout with a gradual acceleration. Easy on the joints. No complicated routines to memorize so one can breeze along with a good pace and no stumbling around trying to figure out the next step. I actually enjoy doing this workout. - posted by Rose on 3/8/2012
I didn't know I'd left the best for last.....
I'd already purchased 2 of Leslie's DVDs so I looked for more of hers in the catalog. When I bought the last 3 I hesitated about "Walk It Off & Tone It Up" - not being excited about stretching firm bands, etc. Consequently, I left this one still packaged in cellophane for a couple of weeks. Finally, I played it - just to watch and decided I'd give it a try. Well, it's become my favorite of the 5 I have. I really like Leslie's chatty manner and am exercising in a single wide mobile home....in what I call the "Family Room" as we have pets and their comfort comes first (meaning we have large pet pillows on the floor and sofa, heated pet window shelves and toy boxes). I'm very pleased with my last order. I have a few (ahem) trouble spots that need toning and this DVD, especially, seems to work on them. I continue to work with the others but right now, this one is my favorite. I've never been one to exercise and found the answer to my prayers when I "met" Leslie. I'll be 79 in April and find these workouts are perfect for me. I'm even looking for a wardrobe - I'm sure you've heard the jokes about wearing a pretty set of matching bottoms/tops to sit around and talk about exercising. This summer I'll be challenged to use the DVDs in our motorhome and I figure as long as I can walk in a straight line (in the aisle) I'll be able to continue with "walking and toning". My very best to you and thanks for the chance to make a big difference in my life. Mrs. B (Norma) - posted by Norma on 3/1/2012
Great Exercise CD.
This has to be my most favorite video of Leslie.I love using the stretchie bands. Some different moves than her other videos. SHe does a lot better when she is by herself. No as much giggly and talk. Good video to get. - posted by karen on 2/23/2012

Walk it Off & Tone it Up
I love this video! It's a great workout with the five miles or even just two or three. It's very flexible to my schedule and Leslie really keeps me motivated and moving!! - posted by Susan on 2/10/2012
A nice workout
This is the first time I've tried Leslie Sansone and I wasn't sure what to expect. I bought it based on the great reviews almost all of her DVDs got here. I wasn't disappointed. The time went by quickly and I worked up a sweat! I will try another of her DVDs, no doubt. - posted by sandra on 2/2/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
sample time graph
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
